Sammiejokes: Tier 2 requirements You need: Sponsorship Certificate: you need a valid certificate of sponsorship for your job (your certificate of sponsorship reference number) Appropriate Salary: you must show you’re being paid an appropriate salary for your job. You’ll usually need to be paid at least £30,000 per year or the ‘appropriate rate’ for the job you’re offered - whichever is higher. You can be paid less - for example if you’ll work as a medical radiographer, nurse, paramedic or secondary school teacher in some subjects or as a pre-registration nurse or midwife. English Language: you must prove your knowledge of English (IELTS, UK NARIC, etc) Personal Savings: you must have personal savings so you can support yourself when you arrive in the UK; a bank or building society statement or letter that shows you have enough personal savings (unless your certificate of sponsorship shows your sponsor can support you). You must have £945 in your bank account for 90 days before you apply. This is to prove you can support yourself. You don’t need to prove this if you have a fully approved ('A-rated') sponsor who can give you at least £945 to cover your costs for a month if you need it. Your sponsor must confirm this on the certificate of sponsorship. In your case yes. Each dependant must have £630 available to them whether they apply with you or separately. This is in addition to the £945 you must have to support yourself. You must have proof you have the money, and that it’s been in your bank account or your dependant’s bank account for at least 90 days before you or they apply. You won’t need evidence of your savings if you have a fully approved ('A-rated') sponsor or certificate of sponsorship stating that your sponsor will give each of your dependants at least £630 to cover their costs for a month if they need it Travel History: you must show you can travel and your travel history over the last 5 years; expired passports or travel documents if you need them to show your travel history. A current passport or travel document to prove you can travel - you need a page in your passport that’s blank on both sides for your visa Tuberculosis test: have tuberculosis test results Police Check: provide a criminal record certificate from any country you’ve lived in for 12 months or more in the last 10 years, if you’ll be working with vulnerable people. You’ll need to provide a criminal record certificate if you work in Education - teachers, education advisers and school inspectors; Healthcare - nurses, doctors, managers, pharmacists, dentists, ophthalmic opticians; Therapy - psychologists, speech and language therapists; Social services - social workers, managers, probation officers You must provide the original plus a photocopy of every document you provide. A friend of mine went through this process in November 2016. It takes about a week or so to get the visa approved. His wife was a doctor in Nigeria and they traveled together with their 3 kids no problem. She started work immediately and earns about £60k plus a year. He was a banker in Nigeria and got a job with Lloyds after about a month £30k a year. |

Hi everyone. Am a newbie here but have seen all the informed posts on the platform. I just want to ask if anyone has been in my situation before. After a protracted battle, I won a settlement appeal in July for my son to join me In the UK. I got an email from Sheffield 2 weeks ago asking us to submit his passport at the TLC which we did immediately. Since then we've heard nothing. Does anyone know how long it usually takes at that stage? I was hoping that my son will start school with his mates as they've resumed school here already. Does anyone know how longer I need to wait please. Many thanks and God bless. |

buddymetro: It varies between 4 to 12 weeks. You need to also get your local mp to apply some pressure on them. |

readynow: My wife got a letter from her payroll depth and HR. Both stated her year of employment, Type of employment, role and salary plus the HCA (Home Care Allowance). All was printed on the NHS trust where she work and was signed. It also stated who to contact. |

Dear all, please I am desperate and been crying since yesterday. I think it was an error or lack of preparation on my part but please don't judge or crucify me. I just need a way forward and I need your advice. My husband is on a tier 4 doctoral extension scheme. I applied first to join him in April but was denied because we submitted fixed deposit funds instead of liquid cash. We liquidated applied in June but then we were denied again because we didn't submit emails and chats and also tuberculosis certificate . My husband visited me in nigeria during that period so I got pregnant. We applied again with the tb certificate which was stating that I was pregnant. But on the application form we didn't state the pregnant. I was granted the tier 4 dependent visa and travelled on Wednesday. I was refused entry and put on an airplane back to Nigeria based on the attached. I was told I didn't indicate I was pregnant on the UK application form and secondly I want to use the nhs funds. Then I think I goofed. I stated that I will leave the UK before giving birth that I wouldn't give birth in nigeria. Please based on the attached letter, what do you guys advise I do? Will I be baned or refused future visas to join my husband? What's the implication? Please I am so desperate and need your advice on way forward. Thanks all

cindylee: Sorry to hear the unfortunate twist of events. The implication of this is, your were denied entry & deported. They simply assumed you wanted to do a Buhari, without paying........ (they viewed you as a health tourist). Which was further confirmed by the call they put through to your husband.... Your return ticket did not help matters either. If you reapply - ¬ NB : The main issue I envisage is that, it would look like your original intention was to give birth in the UK and the original deportation was a valid rejection... It might be best to give birth in Nigeria, then put in a joint application afterwards (mother & baby). On the application, obviously mention the deportation and the circumstances around it...... My Oga's at the TOP might have a better suggestion..... |

Lexusgs430: Thanks so much for your response. I have been researching and found out that nhs does not constitute recourse to public funds of you are on a dependent visa. My husband wants to appeal, what are our chances? Where can we appeal this decision? Can it even be appealed? Finally, will this hamper future application as in denials? Please help as I am desperate. I don't even want this to affect my baby as I have not been able to sleep since. Thanks all |

@ Justwise and all gurus in the house. Please advise on way forward. I am thinking of going by Lexus advice. Have my baby here in Nigeria and apply later. My husband just got a job that will be willing to sponsor tier 2. Should we wait until he changes his class of visa? Will I be denied future applications based on my refusal? What are our chances against appeal? What are your suggestions generally? Please forgive any typos or excessive demands. This thing no easy abeg. |

cindylee: The biggest problem was not mentioning the pregnancy. It would be deemed deception and a way to engage in health tourism (which is a hot potato in the uk at the moment). If he appeals, I bet you before the case would heard, the baby would be about a year old.... On appeal it could be reversed, but still balls to the same conclusion...... Take care of yourself and the baby, that's the most important issue at the moment....... NB: On further reflection, what is he appealing? The visa was granted, but denied entry at the POE. Going down that route would involve a solicitor's engagement, because you would be suing the home office, for denying you entry. The cost implications could be prohibitive. Hence my earlier suggestion........ |

Lexusgs430: Thanks so much. You can see that by this time in Nigeria I am still awake. The issue is disturbing us especially me. One thing I am afraid of is future application. Will this hamper my chances of going or join him later? Will I be banned or refused going forward? If he is on a tier 2, can I apply and won't be rejected based on this circumstance? cindylee: It is obvious you are very worried, the main reason why all details must be disclosed during the application process, because any discovery of the untold, could be viewed as deception. You are not the only person that has fallen fowl of this lack of disclosure, loads of undeclared ladies also have been deported, from various parts of the world....... You would not be banned. You simply need to explain the historic events, whichever path you decide to go..... NB : On a lighter note, how was UK breeze and air? You sniffed it for a few hours.......... 2 Likes |

Lexusgs430: Lol. You think that was what I was thinking of? I have been to visit him four times when we were dating and once when married. Na to officially join that's the problem. I was actually detained and interviewed again when I kept on insisting that my tuberculosis certificate showed I was pregnant and she went to meet the chief immigration officer to make a final decision. If I would not be banned, then I would just wait until I have my baby and I gets his tier 2 visa. Then apply again and see what happens. |

cindylee: I had similar kind of situation in 2006. It was a dependant visa back then. I was to join my family who migrated a year before, so when I was ask questions, I stupidly told the immigration guy I was still schooling in Nigeria, anyways long story short my dependant visa was cancelled but I was allowed to stay for a week. Six months later I applied for a family visit visa and d rest is history. It doesn't affect u from entering into the UK again, allow your hubby to move to the other visa and applied with that. |

cindylee: I do think you can reapply again if you want to or just wait till after giving birth and your husband has switched visa category. To reapply again now you need to make prenatal arrangements with a private hospital and provide such evidence. After birth, you simply apply again as a dependent and ensure you mention that you were refused entry previously and why. As long as you are upfront with everything you shouldn't have any problems. |

justwise: February 28, 2018. He got a new job in September and is waiting for his certificate of sponsorship. I am really concerned if it will affect future applications like a ban etc. Secondly, how do you advise I go about my situation. Thanks @ Justwise |

cindylee: I just managed to read that attachment now and i can understand why the immigration acted that way, unfortunately you and your hubby made a lot of mistakes. Personally i think you should have your baby in Nigeria and reapply when your baby is old enough to fly. Reapplying now judging by the situation will be a bad idea |

Nairalanders please you all should help me to thank Jehovah God the most high for his faithfulness and mercy. I got my spousal visa today!!! My joy knows no bound. I want to thank all the wonderful people in the house who have helped keep the forum alive, giving practical advice and direction. May God bless you all. I've always said it that you can never go wrong when you follow all the great advice coming from this house and backing it up with prayer. Thank you all once again. Please my timeline. Spousal visa (non priority) wife 8th June........ submitted my biometric 19th June....... Hubby sent supporting documents 28th June....... acknowledgment email from Sheffield 8th September........ decision made email from TLS passport sent by courier the same day. Been that it was a weekend I got the passport on Monday 11th September and behold my visa was granted. My advice to all about to apply, take your time to read this tread from the very beginning and make note. It is a time we'll spent 3 Likes |

cindylee: No ban. You were simply refused entry on grounds that you might incur costs for the government. If you had made alternative medical arrangements or your husband had said so then you wouldn't have been returned. Bans are usually reserved for criminal acts like submitting false/fake documents. If you are banned that letter would definitely include a statement to that effect (Paragraphs 3.6, 3.7 of the immigration rules). However, in every future you must mention it, explain briefly the misunderstanding and apologise. It's probably best you wait till your child is born and able to travel and your husband has switched status. |
