Thus says the Lord: “You, son of man, I have made a watchman for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me. If I say to the wicked, O wicked man, you shall surely die, and you do not speak to warn the wicked to turn from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood I will require at your hand. But if you warn the wicked to turn from his way, and he does not turn from his way; he shall die in his iniquity, but you will have saved your life.

Theme of the Sunday: How to Correct a Person. We should all think only about ourselves. Is this correct? No, because, as all the readings today tell us, we are responsible for each other. The first reading explains the idea with the story of the sentry who is expected to blow his horn when he sees danger. The gospel suggests how to correct one who has strayed from the way. The second reading complements this theme because it presents love for the other person as the rule that must guide all our actions.

Twenty -Third Sunday in ordinary time Year A. The Theme :Fraternal Correction. The first reading and the gospel made us to understand that sometimes strong love is needed to save one's soul from the damnation of sin(s) . In our Catholic pastoral and devotional writing, the expression "to save one's soul" is very common, Matt. 16-26. My dear friends, we are being mandated to care for the soul of our fellow believers. When one among us is living according to the flesh, which is always opposed to the Spirit, Rom.8:13. we must approach such individual to tell him or her clearly and tactically that his or her action or certain lifestyle is morally not acceptable amidst the people of God. God has warned us today that if we say it, we will certainly save our souls and our brother or sister's soul who have gone astray. Otherwise, the guilt will be contagiously shared. Friends, saving one's soul has the meaning of saving oneself entirely. And St. Paul states in the second reading that all these must be done based on altruistic love.
Be reminded that one reaches full salvation only when the body and soul are together joined in the joy of resurrection. Happy Sunday to you all.
