Following the protracted industrial activity by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the National Association of Nigerian Students has engaged the body to acknowledge Federal Government’s offer and cancel the strike.

NANS influenced the interest, in an announcement by its National Public Relations To officer, Comrade Best man Okereafor, on Saturday.

The announcement peruses, “NANS is energetically engaging ASUU to consider the offer made by the Federal Government in light of a legitimate concern for Nigerian understudies.

“Indeed, even as NANS appointment might be meeting with Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, the National President of ASUU and his administrators one week from now on the resumption of classes in the colleges.”

I just called a staff Who worked with ptdf formerly (but his no more there), he said according to Previous years, the oss induction date for induction and other programs is usually organized differently from that of lss, but Hs not certain about this year. He advised to call their help desk which I did but its not going through. I advise we just keep calm and chill if we(lss) don't get the invitation message. Perhaps its not yet our turn.
Anyone(including oss) with useful info about lss could kindly update us.

Good evening everyone, First of all, I want to congratulate the shortlisted overseas scholarship candidates, thank God for your life and the efforts in not quitting, life is a race and one mustn't quit at all. I wish u success in your studies over there. Knowing fully well, the 2018/2019 ptdf scholarship will be out by the year end. I have some few questions To ask as I plan to register for the overseas study.
1. Is it compulsory to get an international passport card before registering for the overseas scholarship?
2. In the advent where due to financial challenges, I can't write the TOEFL, GRE or IELTS exam before registration. will that hinder my chances or it means I will get a chance in schools who doesnt demand for it.
3. What are the secrets for a successful application?
4. Hope a pass in one of my O level subjects I mean In my waec result won't have effect on my application though I have the needed grade for English Language.
Thanks and God bless.

7 Months after Induction, Yet no Pay! PTDF 2016 LSS Scholar Laments!

As one of the awardees of the prestigious PTDF scholarship, I felt welcomed and proud to be standing tall amongst some of Nigeria’s brightest minds during the three day (15th-17th July, 2016) induction ceremony held at the PTDF towers in Abuja. However, as the induction ceremony drew to a close, many of the local scholarship awardees(LSS Scholars) including me, noticed a dichotomy in the ways affairs of the LSS and OSS (Overseas scholarship) schemes were been handled.

While we were waved goodbyes after the induction ceremony, preparation and travel plans were being made for our fellow scholars to be flown abroad. Many of us understood the urgency in trying to finalize travel plans for the foreign scholars – as school resumption was due in September,2016. However, some of the LSS scholars too were in similar predicament – as it was mandatory for LSS applicants to be student or admitted into any of a few selected schools across the nation at the time of application (October, 2015), so during the time of induction many of the local awardees were close to the completion of their graduate studies in some of the nation’s most prestigious Universities in Nigeria.

It is sad to state that while many of the LSS scholars brandish award letters from PTDF, some have had their results ceased by their institutions pending when PTDF pays their tuition. Whereas, most of the OSS scholars have had their fees (tuition and living expenses) paid in part or in full as far back as November, 2016, despite the outrageously high Forex rate. Meanwhile, Students schooling in Nigeria can only hold on to a Pseudo-Believe that “one day PTDF will pay”.

We want to use this medium to urge those in charge to overcome whatever bureaucratic bottlenecks that has hindered the processing of funds for the local scholars for months and to bring to the attention of well meaning Nigerians the challenges we face. Otherwise, this scholarship may tread the pathetic path of neglect similar scholarships and youth empowerment programs have witnessed in past. The Presidential scholarship (PRESSID 2015) and Youwin Batch 3 are notable examples.
Hence, we need no more delay in the payment of our funds.

Sincerely,

Concerned LSS Awardee

I'll advice against it... To begin with, the mail sent to successful OSS candidates says "....You are therefore invited for the induction programme scheduled to hold from 9:00am 14th to 15th September, 2017 at the PTDF Tower.... ". Number 2 reason is that part of the requirements for documentation/verification before the induction is for candidates to present a printout of the email invitation for the induction exercise. In other words you might not be admitted for the induction without an evidence of invitation. Number 3 reason is the fact that certain category of applicants (phd split site scholarship) have not been contacted at all or names listed since the conclusion of the test/interview. This suggests that the selection process is still ongoing. You could add the above reasons to the invitation posted on ptdf website, which in my opinion is directed at oss candidates. My recommendation would be for you to hold on and see what happens on Monday if you fall under the LSS category. If you are for OSS do send them an email to know why you haven't been contacted.

Thanks

Hello...... don't always go for past question paper, it doesn't always work. I wrote the exams and passed without studying any past question paper. Just read all round about HSE believe me you will pass. I wrote HSE too and I can tell you I was sure of getting a good score after the exams. All I did was to pray that I'm among the top performers...and God answered my prayers. I don't know anyone but God did it for me. So just study and shun past questions. Though what worked for me might not work for you....wish you the best

1. no
2. you don't need to write dose exams. C6 in Waec is enough to secure admission in most UK schools
3. hard work, hard work, hard work and not forgetting prayer
4. C6 in English is sufficient. However when your score is tied, O level may b used in comparison for shortlisting
