I don't think this is about sentiment, its more on trying to push what's not ripe to the market before its time.
Sentiments in term of players selection..what happened to the whole crew that won the tournament 2 years ago ?

While not even at least 4 players from the winning team of 2015 in this current squad ?
Re: Afrobasket 2017 by somehow: 7:01pm On Sep 10, 2017
Someone above said it was a policy approach, they pushed in 6 home based players which meant some known names must give space

Are you serious? Is the FIBA world cup 2019? 5 countries from Africa? This is not football o.
PDPGuy:

This tournament is not a World Cup qualifying competition.
There will be a separate WCQ tournament that will start next year and end in 2019. In fact, 5 African teams will be at the World Cup.

Oh i see..a policy to totally overhaul the team that won last championship. Seems they don't have the word 'continuity' in their dictionaries.

Why their policy shy away from building on existing structure ( formidable for that matter) but chose the path of total overhauling ?
Time shall tell how promising the policy is ..
Re: Afrobasket 2017 by somehow: 8:07pm On Sep 10, 2017
Pathetic. Their brain should have told them to input 2-3 home base per tourney till they achieve their threshold. Wondering who came up with this extreme policy.

Read the 1st post of this thread and you have your answer. Dalung, Musa Kida and Sam Ahmedu happened.

The previous coach submitted a plan for this tournament months ago. They had an election a few weeks to Afrobasket (actually 2 elections) and 2 different bodies emerged. Dalung backed one of the bodies and those ones threw out Voigt and his plans. A lot of the players were not happy and a few that were contacted declined. Diogu accepted perhaps because he did not play during the last tounrnament.

That is how we ended up with this team. The so called home based policy is just dumb. None of these clowns will go to a General Hospital to be operated by a 'Home based' doctor if he has access to Johns Hopkins in America. Not even the President with the billions spent on Aso Rock clinic. The top tournament in the continent is not where you develop talent. Grassroot work needs a long term development plan and the accompanying economic plan but these clowns don't really care about that. We have enough talent available to us to be the 2nd best team in the world and these jokers are determined to mess everything up.

The Women's victory was down to Sam Vincent and Mfon Udoka, but I'm sure they would try to take the glory.

The pairings for the quarter finals

Cameroon appears to be a better opponent than Tunisia(co-host nation) to me

Much better, but they won't be easy with this team we have. The good win vs Mali helped us top the group as we have the best points difference in the games between the 3 teams with 2 wins in the group.

Angola vs Senegal will the a great game to see.

Tunisia appear to have a clear path to the final, but strange things can happen.

I agree with you. Game between Angola and Senegal is likely going to be keenly contested. Present Senegalese squad looks more formidable than the Angolans. Seems only Senegalese and Tunisian won all their 3 matches.

Senegal should floor Angola and likely floor Nigeria too.

Their team looks more organised and composed compared to Nigeria or Angola

Nigeria win 106-91

The 3 point shooting 16/26 was crazy.

That gave us the game

Congrats to D'Tigers! I didn't watch the game, but making over 50% of 3-pointers is impressive.
