CHAN is different from WAFU cup na. U do know these guys had matches on Saturday and will only arrive an hour before the match so why are u adding pressure on them?

Who is adding pressure on them? Are they not expected to beat Sierra Leone?

What I am concerned with is our FIFA ranking. I have not confirmed but I won't be surprised to see these WAFU Cup results as part of September or October rankings.

Lose to teams like Sierra Leone and Gambia and watch our FIFA ranking plunge.

Take not of the bolded. CHAN and WAFU could fall into that category.

Men's Ranking Procedure

The basic logic of these calculations is simple: any team that does well in world football wins points which enable it to climb the world ranking.

A team’s total number of points over a four-year period is determined by adding:

The average number of points gained from matches during the past 12 months; and
The average number of points gained from matches older than 12 months (depreciates yearly).

Calculation of points for a single match

The number of points that can be won in a match depends on the following factors:

Was the match won or drawn? (M)
How important was the match (ranging from a friendly match to a FIFA World Cup™ match)? (I)How strong was the opposing team in terms of ranking position and the confederation to which they belong? (T and C)

These factors are brought together in the following formula to ascertain the total number of points (P):

P = M x I x T x C

The following criteria apply to the calculation of points:

M: Points for match result

Teams gain 3 points for a victory, 1 point for a draw and 0 points for a defeat. In a penalty shoot-out, the winning team gains 2 points and the losing team gains 1 point.

I: Importance of match

Friendly match (including small competitions): I = 1.0

FIFA World Cup™ qualifier or confederation-level qualifier: I = 2.5

Confederation-level final competition or FIFA Confederations Cup: I = 3.0

FIFA World Cup™ final competition: I = 4.0

While that would be a brilliant suggestion, we all know Rorh to be a bit stiff when it comes to his selection.

Dessers is an intelligent player, I don't care about the league he's been playing or currently playing, the quality of goals he's been scoring tells a lot about him.

He doesn't necessarily needs to play any part in our next game, let him be in camp, start building relationships with players and staffs.

I'm pretty sure the energy from the team would rub-off on him in a +ve way and then it'd be difficult for him to make a U-turn.

Oga is Dessers a Messi or a C7 Ronaldo?

Please it's afternoon, too early to offend the "Experienced One" gringrin

I don't think regional tournaments count in FIFA rankings oo.. Zimbabwe won the COSAFA cup this year and it didn't reflect in their ranking.

Enyeama Is Free To Return But He Won’t Dictate His Role In The Team -Rohr Warns

Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Gernot Rohr has suggested that former captain of the team Vincent Enyeama won’t replaced present captain John Obi Mikel if he returns to the team.

Enyeama’s return has been on for some time now, but issues escalated when first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme was diagnosed with Leukaemia leaving the team with Daniel Akpeyi who failed to convince in the 0-2 loss to South Africa.

Shortly before the back to back World Cup 2018 Qualifiers against Cameroon, Rohr revealed Enyeama has agreed to return to the team but said the 34 year old is currently injured and having issues with his future at French side Lille.

The coach suggested that he will be back as soon as he is fit and also sort out his club future, however he has also added a new line this time around by dropping a hint about how he will handle Enyeama if he eventually returns.

“On the case of Enyeama, I want to say that he is welcome to the Eagles any time he wants”, Rohr said.

“Every Nigerian player playing regularly for a good club would be welcome to the Eagles, but I will not accept any player, who wants to dictate his role on the area or position to play”.

Zulte-Waregem Peter Olayinka Is Upstaging Bonaventure Of Club Brugge As Hottest Nigerian In Belgium

At the start of the season in Belgium, the one name on the lips of every football fan in Belgium has to be Nigerian forward Dennis Bonaventure of Club Brugge after his splendid start to life in Belgium.

Bonaventure arrived Club Brugge from Ukrainian side Zorya, and immediately got down to business with five goals in his first seven games for the team, including four in the League and one in the UEFA Champions League Qualifiers.

However the 19 year old progress was halted when he picked up a thigh injury that has kept him out of the team in their last three league games including the weekend game against Royal Excel Mouscron ,which they lost 2-1.

In his absence fit again on loan Gent forward Peter Olayinka has upstaged him as the hottest Nigerian player in Belgium at the moment with three goals to his name for his loan side Zulte-Waregem.

Olayinka scored his third goal of the season on Saturday in their 2-2 draw against Kortrijk, a tally which takes him to just a goal behind Bonaventure.

While Bonaventure has one assist this season, Olayinka is presently in the race for king of assist in Belgium with six to his name from six games this season.

one thing is for sure, Nigeria is only getting these positive results due to the influx of premier league present stars and past stars such as mikel, moses, ndidi, ighalo, iheanacho, iwobi. we need more, im sure we have kids getting coached in the top academies around the world, we have the likes of tammy abraham and aina the chelsea defender just to name a few.

WC Qualification Africa:

Zambia can shock Nigeria in Uyo, says coach Wedson Nyirenda

Samuel Ahmadu

Correspondent

The gaffer is delighted with his side's double over Algeria in the race to Russia 2018, and feels they can upset Gernot Rohr's men in Uyo

Zambia coach Wedson Nyirenda believes his side can secure maximum points against Nigeria in next month's 2018 Fifa World Cup qualifier in Uyo.

Chipolopolo completed back to back wins over Algeria to climb to the second spot with seven points in Group B.

And the gaffer insists they inch closer to their Russia 2018 dreams as he has shifted focus on conquering the Super Eagles who need a win to earn a qualification ticket.

“We managed to grab the six points. The team has done very well. We are getting closer to the dream,” Nyirenda told Caf website.

“The north Africans are not an easy side but the boys went on and fought for the six points. We will now focus on Nigeria. They are a good team and will desperately want a win.

“I have a big team that can pick a win [against Nigeria] and that is what I'm planning for."

A Nigerian team that just recently took part in 2-legged CHAN qualifiers.

No need to defend them in advance. I will be happy if they beat Sierra Leone but I will also bring out my stick if they fail to do so. What is the standard of the Sierra-Leonean league that the NPFL cannot raise 11 players to beat them?

Siasia's boys landed 3 hours ahead of their first game in the last Olympics and they came all out flying. No excuses to beat Sierra Leone today.
