Hello, you don't necessarily need a Nigerian passport in order to bring your baby to Naija. You can get a Naija visa from a Nigerian consulate near you or apply for a visa on arrival. For visa on arrival, find below the procedure.
N/B: when applying for Visa on Arrival remember to attach the data page of both parents

@Nita3, have you gotten a response from the Nigerian immigration?

I think there are enough information from old pages regarding cheap hospitals. You should consider from oakbend in houston, doctores parati el paso, st francis or centinela in califonia, or Missouri. You can search from by typing in the search button any o these names while you hope for answers from the veterans and experts.

Dear All,

Please i have some questions to ask. I want to apply for my mum's visa to accompany me for birth next year. I got my visa last year for child birth and stated Houston as my destination and contact address, I have since gone and return. Now considering LA for 2nd journey.

1. Should my mum's contact address be the doctor's address in LA, like i did for my Houston trip and used the dr's address since i am yet to conclude my accommodation plans for LA?

2. I am applying for B1/B2 visa for her. Hope i am correct?

3. Duration of stay is 10 weeks. Is that okay? for someone going on visit to assist with baby, and not child birth itself.

4. For the question, "are there other persons travelling with you?", can she include myself and and my toddler traveling with her even though we already have our visas?

5. For contact person in the US, can we use the Doctor's contact's details?

6. Under occupation, pls is there is an option for retired? Cos she no longer works.

7. Now for the concluding part on confirmation on who filled the form, can i safely pick that she didnt fill it herself but filled by her daughter,me?

Apologies for the lengthy questions and hope you find time to answer me, thanks.

1. Yes she can use your doctor's address since accommodation plan is not yet concluded

Let all your info be directed towards this current journey not your previous one. She can also go with receipts and oher docs just in case.

2. B1/B2 is correct for her
3l. She is traing with you to assist you sure the total duration she is going to stay is what yoy should write wherther its 10weeks or 3 months
4. Yes she should include you guys. she is travelling with you guys despite you guys having your visas already ( Let her also go with your data pagr and visa pages
.
5. Yes you can use doctor's detail.
6. Check well you would find a suitable option like home maker or something...

7. if she can read and write. let her go through the form and know what is there and then she can go with completing it herself. If she cant read or write Go with your option.

I agree with almost everything that was said above, the only thing i have issues with is the using of Doctors contact as your mums contact in the US,because as it is,your mum does not have any dealings with the Dr. I would advice you to book a hotel accommodation for her on booking.com and use the hotel address for her contact in the US. You can do this by using your debit card and chose the option of payment when you get there, note that nothing would be deducated from your card untill you get there, you can also cancel a day before the actual date, but if peradventure you don't show up and also fail to cancel ,then money for one night's accommodation would be deducted from your card. I think this is a neater arrangement .

Dear Lagos NIV, But we have seen accounts of people here who are asked by the CBP for evidence of sending a change of intent letter to the embassy? So it appears it does help in some cases even if it does not get into the system.

Perhaps I should share my own experience, even though dated. I got a 1 year US visiting visa in August 2012 after I was turned back from Chicago in 2007 and my visa cancelled. I was not pregnant on any of these occasions. I traveled in September 2012 and got pregnant subsequently. To avoid any stories, I applied for a visa interview in Lagos. When I told the visa officer my story, that I was not pregnant when I got the visa and I planned on using the visa to give birth; he looked kind of perplexed. Bottom line, he said my visa was still valid and I was free to travel with it. I didn't even have any doctors correspondence, budget sheet, etc at the time because I didn't know about all that and was not asked. The VO said he will note it on the system anyway but it's up to CBP to allow me in or not. In addition, he said he'll extend the validity of my receipt, so that when my visa expires, I could use it to renew! Got to Chicago in May 2013, they harassed me a bit over Dr Akere, though, but I was allowed in!

LagosNIV:
Hello kokorita -

You have two options. Your first option, and my recommendation, is to apply for a visa without using dropbox, have an interview, and disclose your current intent to have childbirth in the US during the interview. This is the safest option, as your intent will then be documented in the system, and you are much less likely to be turned away at the Port of Entry while heavily pregnant after the expense and the long flight to the US. Your second option is to continue with the dropbox visa that you have, and bring all the necessary documents to the Port of Entry. CBP has the authority to allow you into the US at the Port of Entry based on a valid B1/B2 visa and your documents, and some people are succesfull in doing this. Some are not.

I want to emphasize this point, as I see it being discussed here often. Sending a "change of intent letter" has no effect. It does not go into the file or into the casenotes, it does not get to CBP in any way. The only way to ensure that your changed intent is documented is to apply for a new visa and have a new interview.

When filling our application for dropbox, we omitted one of the countries visited but it was an oversight....how do we remedy the situation #thanks.

Thanks a lot, but booking a hotel in LA for 10 weeks for child birth coupled with we that are also accompanying her on the trip does not look like a good/solid arrangement for accomodation, in my opinion.

Still looking out for Accomodation arrangement but doubt if I can conclude it this week b4 I submit her application.

I don't think this is a big deal in my opinion. You've gone to the US before and this is what matters most, since it's a visa renewal.

The suggestion was just for you to have a convincing address for her to use for the visa application and also have an accommodation print out to show for visa interview, you can cancel it anytime after you have made a more permanent arrangement

@Nita3, Pls what about if the baby mum wants to attach only her passport data page in the Visa on Arrival application,Will it still work with only hers alone without attaching her husbands own?
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 5 by Nobody: 11:08pm On Sep 12, 2017
As I said, some people are allowed in by CBP at the port of entry without declaring their childbirth intent as part of a visa application, and if mothers want to run that risk, that is their choice. I would guess that in your case, the VO who you were talking to opened up your old visa case and added a note to it while you were at your interview. I think the bolded part of your story is what made the biggest difference for you. My advice remains, to minimize the chances of being refused entry by CBP, the best course of action is to apply for a new visa.

Good morning house, thank God for this thread. Kudos to everyone who's kept it going. I was here 2 years ago and received a lot of guidance on my 'missionary' journey and I'm happy I was able to give back afterwards.

I'd like to know if anyone in the house has ever had to or knows anyone who had to attend a 'follow up' interview after a drop box application and how it went i.e docs required etc. It's my first renewal after I had my baby in 2015 and I didn't overstay or owe. I have my zero balance statements for all the major payments and I have called the 2 providers whose zero balance statements I do not yet have. They have agreed to send it to the US address where I stayed. I reckon I'll also need employment docs and statements again, which I'm putting together. I'd appreciate a guide on this.

While I was applying for the renewal in early August (visa expires Sept 22nd), the intention was to visit in November and write my CFA exams but a week+ later, I found out I am pregnant-still getting over the news, but I thank God who is perfect in his ways.

Although the pregnancy is still early, I would like to mention it during the follow up interview even though giving birth in the US would be an option B for me (I'm considering another country because of earlier plans for school). Would this pose an issue, given that I didn't mention it (I was not aware) at the time I completed my ds-160 form?

Would appreciate your thoughts, comments or experience sharing on this.

Thank you.
