Hello house. I know this thread is not for NITDA Scholarship but I just hope that I'll get help/sugestions from Nairalanders here.
I was success in the last year's Aptitude test(PhD category) and will soon be invited for Verification but my problem is that i don't have an employement letter as a University lecturer but I have secured an admission into my programme already.
What do I do?
How do I get this letter? I've applied to over 40 different universities no positive feedback.
I'm at the verge of losing it all.
I've tried all I could, even applied as freelance lecturer in some private universities to no avail.

I will really appreciate your kind suggestions.

The test was obj. 100 English language questions and 50 HSE questions. However, the nature of the questions depend on which exam body is conducting the test. What I read mostly based on past questions were history-based questions (history of oil discovery, nnpc, ptdf and various acts establishing them), lol and behold non of those came out however. The English will be fine especially if you have done GRE before. But for the HSE, basic knowledge of chemistry, environmental hazards and general safety approach in industries and various risk identification symbols(all theses u can google online) would help u a lot. And most importantly be calm and precised and PRAY for ur victory. All the best!

Is being a university lecturer a criterion for the scholarship, if yes. Then, do one of two things:
1. Go to a private uni, book an appointment with the VC. Tell him in simple terms. A temporary appointment would do, no compensation is required. You'd even volunteer to lecture one month for free upon returning from studies.

2. Apply the same technique to a state university. But, go back to your state of origin and see the VC of your state university. It'll work. You should have come to seek advice before now. This is September already.

I got a mail requesting for my admission status. Non since then.

Me too.since the admission status email no other form of communication from PTDF.

The admission status email is not a sufficient prove that one got the scholarship.

From all indecation LSS will not be part of the induction, I believe they will contact us when they are through with the OSS. If you got the email asking you your admission status i believe you are successful.

Thanks a lot. It is not as easy as you've presented. I've been to lots of schools and seeing the VC has been a quest to eternity. In some schools even with a letter from the Chancellor it wasn't possible to see the VC. It was treated like a piece of scrap!

I believe they will contact us at the appropriate time, with or without induction we can go and collect the award letter.

The lady that collected your application said interview have being proponed till next month.you will be contacted via mail..check your email..

Not exactly sure why I'm being DM'ed as regards PTDF past papers. Just to be clear, I don't have such or know where to get such. Personally, info not think much comes from these past papers. Thank you.

What if you applied for OSS? I believe even if u're considered for LSS it would be to Local school referred by ptdf. They wouldn't be a need sending email to ask if you got admission, cos u didn't apply LSS afterall

If you apply for OSS and your name is not on OSS list and you got the email then most probably you have been converted to LSS or split. Let's hope they say something on LSS soon coz let's of things are not clear for LSS especially split.

There's nothing that's unachievable. I have had occasions to be with two VCs - federal uni & state. if you're persistent enough, you'll get whatsoever you set your mind on.

Here's a secret, ask for the name of the VC's secretary. To go pass security, tell them you want to see the secretary. Be polite to him/her and state your mission. If you can get the secretary's no, it's even better. Discuss before coming.

As I mentioned your state university is your best bet. Demand for a part time appointment and a promise to come and teach for free even if it's for a week upon returning.

This thread has gone quite cold. I believe this is largely due to the creation of a whatsapp group page dedicated to successful OSS candidate by one of the candidates. I am inclined to believe some supposed successful LSS candidates have also migrated to that group. There is a small group of candidates who are in the category of PhD Split site. I wish to ask that we organise ourselves to keep ourselves posted on any developments as regards this category. Thanks
