Must you work with your first degree? Studying Anatomy, Physiology or Biochemistry is only a means to an end.

In the US, they are a prerequisite for the study of medicine or Dentistry. There isn't a physician who didn't get drilled in the basic Med sciences.

U must be joking. What am I supposed to do with a degree? Fry bourns with it?

Honestly, you guys have spoken my mind, you guys just told the OP the bitter truth.

I have been a graduate of microbiology for the past 5years, you can't believe that I have never used it to work in my field before.

Not that I have not been seeing jobs, but the experience they request for, is like walking from Nigeria to Chicago.

Sometimes, I always think otherwise, I have been to the last stage of an interview before in an FMCG coy, but was turned down on two occasion that I don't havr experience in my field.

Even, I was turned down to work as a lab scientist in ministry of health, just because they said, a microbiologist without medical licence can't work in the field.

Infact, these days I don't even go near most of all these my field again.

I prefer applying in other field, where what they needed is what you can bring in not really your certificate sometimes.

OP, to be honest with you, please go for medical lab science, or you go for better lucrative course, leave biochemistry and microbiology out of the page.

Majority of my friends we finished together and some that also finished as biochemist are now working in bank, some access, some uba and some first bank.

wo my dear if dey are not going to employ u go into fashion designing Bfor been jobless will make u frustrated..... u know u can't just sit n not do anything

You guys are busy condemning Biochemistry and microbiology. How about anatomy or physiology? Those two are the worst courses in the world. Most especially anatomy. It's as hard as a nutcracker and yet as useless as a used tissue paper dumped inside the toilet.
physiology is still better.. But that is if and only if if you study till PhD, my brother without a PhD in physiology, one is as ordinary as a jambite.
Re: Biochemistry Vs Microbiology: Which One Has More Job Opportunities In Nigeria? by arinzos(m): 10:24pm On Sep 12, 2017
Biochemistry and microbiology are just dumping grounds for those that didn't make it into College Of Medicine. When i was in MCB,we were 310 in class.I just look at the class sometimes and wonder where all these people will fit in.BCH and MCB is not worth it in Nigeria.just go for professional courses, not that these courses will make you rich oh just that they will give you a head start.

Shut up already. U must be very insecure to think like this. Physiology is as useless as the P in psychology. Stop giving yourself vain hope. U are doomed!!!

If you no u wanna go for microbiology, Biochemistry, anatomy or physiology, be very sure u have financial support till PhD level.. Or better still make a first class @ b. SC level or at most a 2.1 (so that u can work in a bank).

But if u make a 2:2, and u have no financial support till PhD level, then you are on your own o
