I have 500000 to invest in DJ business. As a matter of fact I am a decorator which makes clients easy to win but I have seen that DJ services is scarce in my locality; as someone with taste I sampled prices for foreign accessories but discovered it's way too expensive for me to carry. So my question is this, can I set up an averagely better crew with that kind of money? Generator and laptop is covered already
Re: Tips For Djs by ezzylee(m): 1:03pm On Sep 07, 2017
500k can be used to setup something decent.

You'll have to purchase speakers, mixer, microphones, a dj Controller.

Don't know how much speakers, mixers and microphones cost but you can buy an entry level controller for like between 120-150k (as seen on JUMIA).

My boss @haryomikun can help you further on this issue.

Hehe.. First off, ESHOIZA DJing is NOT A BUSINESS. it's a passion... If it's business to you, very soon you'll drop out of it.
Anyways to get started professionally, you need a scale of preference...

As ezzylee earlier said, you need to budget about 100-120k for an entry level controller... Go for the numark mixtrack pro 3 or pioneer DDJ SB2 on amazon or ebay. A controller or CDJ will make you look professional

Second priority will be getting an engine-mixer. If you buy the combined one it'll cost around 150k.. I'm not sure about that price though,,, its the second priority because thats what gives your gig sound quality... No matter how good you are if sound quality is off, you ain't gonna be hired again

Third priority should be getting about a pair of speakers. A singular speaker costs about 70k or thereabout. I once saw one on jumia for 86k but you know,,, these jumia guys try to cheat and stuff... Once you get those 3, you're good to go. I hope you really know the art of DJing and you're not just going into it hoping you'll get some money boom from it,,, because e get areas wey b say if you no sabi dem go throw you bottle o cheesy cheesy

Re: Tips For Djs by ezzylee(m): 12:12pm On Sep 13, 2017
Not an EXPERT on this area buh from the little research I've just done, controllers don't have in-built amplifiers.

It's either you buy a stand alone amplifier or you buy speakers with in-built amplifiers.

Yh bro.

That your 500k budget should be enough to get you hardware that's way above decent. As haryomikun said, customers would take you more seriously once you purchase these things.

Please what speaker - amplifier combination would you recommend for a good DJ set up
Laptop, controller is already available

Like what speaker can serve a typical wedding reception in a hall and what amplifier (ratings) can handle it.
Do I need subs?

I would appreciate your inputs
Thank you

I'm not too conversant with all those mixers, amps and the likes buh I know some speakers come with in built amps.
Also for the wedding hall, the amount of speakers you'll use all depends on the size of the hall. From research, all speakers except the bass speakers, should be mounted on stands at a LIL above head level for best sound quality.. .. . The bass speakers can be kept on the floor.

As I said I'm not too conversant buh I hope this little info helps you.

That's gonna be quite a big hall.. .. You should be looking at 10-16 speakers including the bass/subwoofers. You can add more if you want.

Again from research, your setup/arrangement of the speakers has to be top notch so as to get the best sound quality.

Haryomikun come and help out.

Jesus! You don't need up to that for an audience of 200-300 persons o cheesy

Kpata kpata 4- 6 speakers don dey okay; D

You can order for more sha if you feel like

Modified...............................

I just read through and saw he was talking about a wedding reception..... You'll need no more than two sub woofers with 4 speakers... It all depends on speaker quality sha. I've heard single speakers that sound damn loud and can disturb a whole neighborhood so really it just depends on the type of speakers you're dealing with. 2 sub woofers and 4 speakers would be okay/even more than okay IMO

Thanks bosses

So, now, down to prices.

Where/how can mans get good/great loudspeakers at good (low/fair) prices?
Would you recommend assembling the parts by a local dealer?
Or to buy 2nd hand?

It depends on ur area naa... You'll best get near your area as the transportation of the speakers and all can be a problem

Besides i once asked the cost of assembling parts by a local dealer and he called the price 150k for a single speaker. So i think the money for assembling could be high

i think you need mentoring even for a week. visit a
dj, follow him to work help him carry speakers and allow him to teach you the basics.
