'i'm sorry i failed you once again Ngo, i didnt satisfy...'

Lolo quickly covered his mouth with her hands 'dont mention that again Igwe. You've done nothing wrong. I should even be the one apologising. Knowing fully well about your health i still insisted we have sex. I'm so sorry. We're too old for that'

She rested her head on his shoulders and he held her tightly 'i love you Ngo. I love you so much. All i need is for you to reciprocate that feeling. Or are we too old for that too?'

Ngozi laughed loudly and pinched his bulging stomach 'without being told, you ought to know i love and care for you Igwe'

'thanks Lolo'

***
SEVEN DAYS EXPIRED.

Everyone gathered round the palace. Even the crown princesses, being Dike's wives were all around, all dressed in a blue native attire with Dike on a white tux.

The palace compound was full to its brim, with people still standing outside the gate peeping to hear what the Great Dibia had to say.

First of all there was breaking of kolas, exchange of gins and greeting of the ancestors.

The Great Dibia sat in the middle of the palace, white chalks around him as he incantated.

'the spirit of the living gods of our land, i plead that you deliver your message to your servant for everyone is eager to hear you speak. Convey your reasons why the Igwe should vacate the throne today through me. What abominations has caused it oh gods of our land?'

He shook his staff and there was a loud noise.

Then there was silence. The people's heart thumped with anxiety. What was the abomination?

Even Freda was around. But she didnt sit with the Chiefs. She was supposed to be standing but someone was humble enough to send her chair.

'the gods say that kingship should be removed from the Ikemba family' The Great Dibia said and everyone's mouth dropped in shock 'they've been sexual connections between both people that are strongly related by blood in the family. That we all know is a great abomination in our land. The gods are so angry that such a thing would happen with the royal family. Even Dike cannot be crowned king, nor any other member of the family. Royalty is thereby removed from the heads of this family. The Igwe thereby is to submit his crown to the shrine where it would be kept in safety till the next 21days when a new kind would be decided by the gods and crowned'

He paused and cleared his throat 'every benefits given to each and every member of the once royal family shall be taken back. The palace guards and maids, the titles, everything. The crown prince, Dike Ikemba is to submit his wives who is going to be given to the newly crowned king to be married to. However, he is only allowed to choose one and pass on the remaining six. And then the gods would choose the seventh one for the newly crowned king. The gods has instructed that the palace be empty within now and the next three days with everything belonging to every member of the once royal family taken along with them. The Lolos now have a decision to either remain with the Igwe or leave him. If the later becomes their decision, then the gods would choose another husband for them. Only the gods are allowed to handle that part. And lastly, even though this is unusual, the Chiefs of the Igwe's regime should resign as new Chiefs would be selected for the new king. This has never happened before and should never happen but that happens to be the message of the gods. I am, but a humble messanger of the gods. Every order is expected to be carried out with expected efficiency. Failure to do all these shall result to death being the repercussion. I take my leave.

'this is really confusing! My God! Who slept with who in this family? I need answers right now!' The Igwe thundered. He was holding a family meeting and every member of the family was in attendance. Everyone could practically feel the heat around.

'am i speaking to deaf fools?!' He thundered angrily again.

'dad, slow down, your health is...' Dike was saying.

'you shut up you animal except you have something tangible to say' The Igwe cut short.

'na so' Wache snorted.

'Igwe calm down and let your son speak. He speaks for good reasons'
Ngozi said.

'even you Ngozi, except you have something to do with the incest committed in this royal family and you want to speak up, do not speak until you're asked to!'

'are you trying to say i'm the one who committed the incest? That perhaps i slept with my son?' Ngozi rose up on her feet angrily.

'i cant remember anyone saying something like that here Ngozi, so sit down and shut up right now!'

Ngozi stilled in shock. The Igwe had never spoken to her in that manner before.

'mum sit please' Ijeoma whispered to her mum when she noticed she was about to say something in return.

Ngozi swallowed her shame and lowered herself on the seat.

'who did this? Who is responsible for this! We're going to be practically ostracized from this community because of two members of this family who couldnt keep their organs in check!'

'but my lord, have you ever considered that this might be just be a very big misunderstanding? Maybe the gods....' Chinwe, the Igwe's third wife was saying.

'are you trying to say the gods are lying?' Wache fired.

'no...'

'then shut up! Except maybe you and your daughter did some touchings that no one knows of' Wache hissed.

'Wache watch your tongue'

'i will if you dont bring up unnecessary topics that isnt going to help us in any way!'

'nonsense'

'now both of you shut up!' The Igwe fired at both of them 'if you dont want yourselves banished from this community at once'

'and who's going to banish them? You?' Mma, Chinwe's only rebellious daughter 'you seem to have forgotten that the kingship and power to make decisions has been removed from your hands. You're nothing but a commoner now, you have no right to speak to anyone in the manner you like'

'will you shut up Mma! You're talking to your father!' Chinwe scolded.

'he's not my father! The moment he chose to banish Ikenna, the love of my life from this village simply because he caught both of us together, he ceased being my dad!' Mma retorted.

'if you speak one more time Mma, i'll spank the hell out of you this instant!' Ijeoma warned.

'you'll do nothing. You're just the firstborn of this nonsense family, nothing more nothing less. And you'll do nothing to me!'

When Ijeoma rose to hit her, Chinwe quickly stood up to her daughter's defense 'in as much as i dont support my daughter in this you still have no right whatsoever to hit her, so back off!'

'this is what we are saying in this family, confusion, immorality and rascality everywhere!' Wache clapped her hands 'mothers are raising irresponsible kids and still support their kids. Just look at Mma that they caught in the bush making out with that...that...that dirty Ikenna that i cant even begin to describe how he is. That foolish pickpocket of Umuzulu. Of all men in this community, Mma had to choose that fool as the love of her life, tufia! The gods forbid nonsense. It is all these kids that are making the gods angry with us. That is why they are removing the royalty from our family. But nsogbu a dia'

'but nobody called you in this matter Wache. Your kids aint any better than anybody here' Chinwe said.

Ijeoma quietly sat down. If there was anything she hated, it was having to be involved in family matters.

'everyone should keep quiet. No more quarels please' The Igwe said 'i just want to settle this issue once and for all. I never intended for any problems. I just want to know who committed this attrocity. Please just speak up if you know anything about it'

Shivani swallowed. Nobody in this room understood what was happening. She alone knew and she wished she could really do something, or even say something.

'please i beg you all, if you know anything about this, then please speak up. The first step to solving a problem is actually knowing where the problem is coming from' The Igwe pleaded.

'i have something to say'

Everyone turned to the hallway. Freda was standing there 'pardon me for intruding. But i have something to say'

wow! this punishment harsh o. why remove the kingship from the family? Dike should've been the one denied the kingship even though it was not his fault and moreover he had no interest in becoming the king right from time. Anyway, that's my opinion. chumzypinky, thanks for the update.

Hehehehehehehe, see the way Igwe is barking like a goat angry, anyway sha, wetin concern Dike undecided, he never wanted the kingship before, i dont even know who to blame, is it Freda for not telling Mia who her real father is?, or Igwe for being insatiable?, or Mia for being wild and wanting Dike?, abi na Dike for having sex with someone you know nothing about.
