Good morning house, thank God for this thread. Kudos to everyone who's kept it going. I was here 2 years ago and received a lot of guidance on my 'missionary' journey and I'm happy I was able to give back afterwards.

I'd like to know if anyone in the house has ever had to or knows anyone who had to attend a 'follow up' interview after a drop box application and how it went i.e docs required etc. It's my first renewal after I had my baby in 2015 and I didn't overstay or owe. I have my zero balance statements for all the major payments and I have called the 2 providers whose zero balance statements I do not yet have. They have agreed to send it to the US address where I stayed. I reckon I'll also need employment docs and statements again, which I'm putting together. I'd appreciate a guide on this.

While I was applying for the renewal in early August (visa expires Sept 22nd), the intention was to visit in November and write my CFA exams but a week+ later, I found out I am pregnant-still getting over the news, but I thank God who is perfect in his ways.

Although the pregnancy is still early, I would like to mention it during the follow up interview even though giving birth in the US would be an option B for me (I'm considering another country because of earlier plans for school). Would this pose an issue, given that I didn't mention it (I was not aware) at the time I completed my ds-160 form?

Would appreciate your thoughts, comments or experience sharing on this.

Thank you.

I would like to ask you some questions before i comment.
Was the visa you are renewing (.i.e. your last visa) a medical visa? If not,did you use it for the purpose for which it was issued before using it for birthing?
If the answer to both questions is yes, then again it might just be a routine thing or their reason for inviting you could be as a result of something totally different from anything you are thinking. I shared here some weeks ago of how someone very close to me applied for a drop box renewal after coming back from a birthing trip and was invited for an interview and we all thought the invitation was in connection to her giving birth in the US,but alas! the issue was not even mentioned,it all had to do with an unnecessary lie she told on her 1st us visa interview 10yrs ago that she had forgotten all about that came back to bite her in the a**, of cause her visa was denied .
You are already on the right track preparation wise, just prepare as if you are going for a fresh interview with all the burden of proof, and in addition don't forget to take all your receipts and zero balance. Just be open with the visa officer and tell him the way it is,that the purpose of the trip is for you to go and write your cfa exams, but you just discovered that you are pregnant and that you just might have the baby there too,but you haven't decided yet,so that he'll put is down in your record in case you decide in future to go that route,it will be on record for all to see. All the best

Dear All, Good day. I have been a silent guest on this forum for a very long while and it has helped me tremendously. I really want to give back a little from my experience so far.
I am currently in the US to have my baby and I would like to share my POE situation at the Houston POE which I arrived last week.
First and foremost I want to inform us all that the immigration officers are on this page and read it all the time. They specifically mentioned this page to me and asked me to inform the house that they are with us. Not to scare anyone as I presume they may even be amongst us giving some input and guidance to us. He laughed at the change I intent letter we talk about here. I had it handy based on what I read here but i didn't even need to show it to him especially since he had laughed about how silly he thinks it is. My saving grace was that I had applied for the visa for vacation when I wasn't pregnant and I mentioned when asked that I will use it for child birth in future if I get pregnant. He saw that in my record. pls note that i was specifically asked this question and sincerely i thank God i was otherwise i may not have volunteered the information myself. However the Immigration officer at the POE says some of us will say we were not asked and it doesn't really matter we should have declared from the onset.
Secondly please always say the truth. No matter the cost. When you lie it apears like you are unscrupulous and can't be trusted.
Thirdly, let's not be scared of saying we want to give birth in the US. Both the consular officer and the immigration guy told me it's very legal to give birth in the US of you can pick the bills. All that is required is that you demonstrate that you know the bills and can comfortably pick them.
Finally please always always pick your bills and have your itemised receipts and zero balance handy. it's really unfair for us to use the Medicaid or other health insurance in the US. The citizens are taxed heavily for these services and getting it is like stealing literally. pls let's not do that . Sometimes we can be cohersed and tempted to do that even by some hospitals and doctors but don't fall into that trap. And as the nice guy I may at the POE adviced pls don't sign anything while in Labour. you may not be cordinated enough to read through properly. God bless.

Evening house . Noticed there is nothing much on indiana hospitals here cry
I need info about the hospitals and also experience at poe for expectant mums it's urgent please traveling in 2 weeks
Thanks

Like i alway say givingbirth in the US is not an emergency and its serious business that must be handled seriously. However you can still achieve a lot in 2 weeks

Indiana might not be well frequented however you can be a TrailBlazer for others.
I believe you have a family or friend there the reason you want Indiana. If so ask them to give you names of hospitals or call them for you.

Yoy can also Google hospitals and doctors in Indiana and start calling and mailing them.

Also do have a second plan in case Hospitals in Indiana end up been too pricey. Texas and Chicago are well frequented options by mamas on this thread

Congrats another baby is coming on the way.
As long as you sincerely did not know before submotting your application for renewal- drop box. You might be called for an intervew and many have used dropbox without ben called.

If you are called simply package your previous birth receipts to show them . Also let them know that this visa is first for Your CFA Exam and that you r in your first trimester and might also go back for the child birth.

If you are not called. just ensure you first go for your CFA exams and when its tim for birth and you decide on US. get your corrspondence and go. then pay your full bills without taking any form or medicaid whatsoever.

I am sure you woud be very okay

I had my baby on the 27th of December at Baylor, Scott and White medical center, White Rock, Dallas

Costs were :
Hospital - $3000 (They charge $4300 for c-sections) ...paid weeks before birth
Doctor - $2500 - (He charges $3350 for c-sections) (Paid weeks before birth)
Epidural - $1000 (Paid weeks before birth)
NICS (neonatologists/pediatricians) - $555.70 (Paid over the phone by card after discharge)
Group B strep test (Labcorp) - $94
Extra bills from hospital for baby's jaundice treatment - $427 (Paid over the phone by card after treatment)
Follow up visits for baby at Irving Pediatrics - $75/visit (We went at 1 week and at 6 weeks)

Got my daughter's birth certificate the day after she was born at City Hall in Downtown Dallas. The day I had my baby, the hospital brought the birth records paperwork for me to fill out and asked me to send one of them in by post. When I saw that the address was a Dallas address, I had my husband take it there instead of posting it. I think this helped in having the birth certificate ready in only 24 hours. Even the staff there were quite surprised. Cost $23/copy

We booked an appointment for the 30th to get her passport at the regional passport office in downtown Dallas which we collected about 2 hours after we did the application. Cost $165

Left the US on Saturday, 11th February on British airways. Paid for my baby's tickets with BA miles and it cost me about 4000 miles and $88 in taxes and surcharges.

All's well that ends well. I'm willing to answer any questions anyone may have that I can help with and haven't covered here.

Which did u do.. Visa or visa on arrival

Thanks @Babatwi.

To answer your questions, it was a B1/B2 visa. It was my first US visa and at the interview, the purpose of travel was to give birth-same hospital, same doctor. All bills were paid and there were no complications.

My renewal application was in early August.

As recommended, I'll prepare for the interview like it's the first with my exam registration docs as well. Then pray for God's favour and wisdom.

I appreciate your feedback.

Thank you.

Hello all, below is my testimony (Poe experience).

Got to Newark at about 7.45pm and proceeded to immigration. The family before us was sent to secondary inspection. Hubby n I were scared but we kept praying.
Dude came back and asked for our purpose of visit and we replied 'vacation and childbirth'. Asked if we were going to stay in an hotel for 11 weeks cos it's going to be expensive but we told him we have booked intown suites which is way cheaper. He asked us what we do back home n we responded. He then stamped us in, B1 and asked us to proceed to baggage claim.
No document checked. Twas just God all the way.

I must say this forum has been of tremendous help to me. Thank you so much guys.

Hello, you don't necessarily need a Nigerian passport in order to bring your baby to Naija. You can get a Naija visa from a Nigerian consulate near you or apply for a visa on arrival. For visa on arrival, find below the procedure.
N/B: when applying for Visa on Arrival remember to attach the data page of both parents

Thank you. Please how much do Visa on Arrival cost?
