Oga is Dessers a Messi or a C7 Ronaldo?

Please it's afternoon, too early to offend the "Experienced One" gringrin

I don't quite get

Would I ask a player of quality compared to Ronaldo or Messi to be called up, and not make the bench??

Isn't this how we lost out on getting players of dual nationality to play for us?

If only you had narrowed the comparism to specific season you would have discovered that Burak Yilmaz at the time scored 33 goals in 34 games. He also bossed the Champions league with 8 goals in 6 group matches, emerging the top scorer at the time.
Yes he scored more goals than Ronaldo.

If his exploits were negligible Spurs, Athletico Madrid, Lazio, Fiorentina wouldn't have gunned for him. I can't recall a striker in the Championship attracting such interests from European clubs like that.

When our own Emenike emerged from Turkey, there was a long list of clubs across Europe who went in hard for him. Even when his form wanned, he still signed up on loan to West ham.

Last season I watched a few Championship games and to be honest the quality was poor. The usual stereotype English kicked and rush football held sway.

This is the paradox of the championship outside of the top 6/8 teams they are technically poor. Sometimes I find it shocking to watch. However, it's all blood and guts 100mph and police game extremely physical and energy sapping non stop stuff. The ball is hardly on the deck.

It's a different type of football but it's very difficult to play technical football in those circumstances. Thats why many top class technically proficient players become lost in the championship. You have to be able to mix it.

That's why you find quite a few premiership clubs falling to much lower opposition. Liverpool struggled over two legs to beat Plymouth Argyle with just one goal.

What that means is that if you can play good individual technical football in the championship then you will thrive in the EPL. Some of the best English forward players have come out of the lower leagues.

However because the European game is so much slower and with much more time on the ball most of the players struggle in the championship and EPL. With regard to African player thier natural athleticism enables them to overcome. No be potatoes dem deh chop na pounded yam.

It's difficult to really gauge interest because most English players don't want to go to Europe. There is much more traffic coming this way to the EPL.

Emenike is African and strong it's different that not withstanding I don't think he made any waves in the EPL. That's why he didn't last. The same problem is affecting Musa he can't cope with the EPL he just doesn't have the physical make up to thrive. Added to that limited technical ability.

My point have been the quality of the leagues. Championship has nothing on the Turkish league.

I will rather watch Trabzonspur play Besiktas than Rotherham vs Cardiff.

Ha ha ha Lol

I actually went to watch Burton Albion play Cardiff live. Burton played far better football but got bullied by the big thugs Cardiff had on the pitch. Player who stood out for me was Otis Mendes very technical, fast and strong can see him going to the EPL if he keeps consistent form.

It depends on what you classify as quality.

This use to be a problem for me as for me TECHNIQUE is King. But a lot of EPL and Championship managers want Stamina, Speed, Strength, presence ( tall) and garnished with a little bit of technique. That's what they will pay the big bucks for. So my preference is irrelevant, money talks you give them what they want.

Look at the two top players in Middlesbrough who are making waves. Asombolanga and Traore with Asombolanga being the most expensive striker in the Championship at £15 million. Look at thier attributes perfect for the championship and good prospect for the EPL.

Zambians love playing from the wings. Block the wings and mark out their wingers, then they will runout of ideas.

There is a way you mark to slow down a player.

Enoch Mwepu is just about their best player and he is not a winger. He is the main creative force in the team. In the U20 world cup Zambia could not beat a 10 man Italy after his injury.

Overweight' Carlos Tevez benched indefinitely at Shanghai Shenhua - Wu

Carlos Tevez is "overweight'' and will not play for Shanghai Shenhua again until he improves his fitness, according to the club's caretaker manager Wu Jingui.

Striker Tevez, who is reportedly the world's highest-paid player on £650,000 a week, has struggled for form in China and has only scored twice in 11 appearances.

The 33-year-old former Manchester United, Manchester City and West Ham forward joined Shenhua from Boca Juniors on Dec. 29 last year.

He has been recovering from a muscle injury in his native Argentina, but on his return to China has been told he needs to get in shape in order to play.

"I will not pick him right now. He's not ready physically. He's not fit to play,'' Wu told the South China Morning Post.

"He is overweight, along with [Fredy] Guarin. I have to take responsibility for the team and the players as well.

"If you are unable do your utmost to play, there's no point in picking you. I have coached lots of big stars, and my players are never picked on reputation.''

Shenhua, who are 11th in the Super League, named Wu caretaker after former Sunderland manager Gus Poyet resigned earlier this week.

He, Rainford Kalabaand a some others were dropped by the coach. I think the goalkeeper is the only starter from that match that is still on the team. This team consists of their U20 and CHAN teams.

Proud Rohr congratulates Salisu Yusuf, Man of Match Ezenwa

By admin -
September 13, 2017

Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has congratulated his assistant Salisu Yusuf and goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa on the country’s progress in the WAFU Cup in Ghana.

On Monday night, Nigeria overcame a chaotic build-up to beat hard-fighting Sierra Leone 2-0 to advance to the group stage of the sub-regional tournament.

“Rohr has called to congratulate the coach and also goalkeeper Ezenwa, who was Man of the Match against Sierra Leone,” a top team official told SCORENigeria

“He said he is very proud of what they were able to do under the difficult circumstances they arrived in Ghana.

“He has therefore tasked the team to do well in the competition, while reassuring them that his door remains wide open for any of them to fight his way into his team.”

The Nigeria vs Sierra Leone game was adjudged as the best in the playoff rounds of the competition.

Ezenwa was in goal for the crucial World Cup double-header against Cameroon earlier this month after he helped qualify Nigeria to a third straight CHAN.

Rohr has already hinted he will again be in goal against Zambia in another World Cup qualifier next month.

The home-based Eagles will take on Mali tomorrow afternoon in their opening Group A match.

Hosts Ghana and Guinea are the other teams in their group.

Super Eagles Drop To 44th In Latest Fifa Rankings, Africa's Top 20 RevealedNigeria were impressive in their last two World Cup qualifying matches against Cameroon in Uyo and Yaounde but that has not paid off in the latest Fifa rankings set to be announced by the governing body of football on Thursday.

The Super Eagles have fallen six spots and are now ranked 44th in the global ranking after losing 1-0 to Benin Republic in an African Nations Championship qualifier, a game classed as a 'friendly' by Fifa.

However, the national team made slight progress in the continental ranking, improving one spot to fifth ahead of African champions Cameroon.

Egypt retained their number one spot in Africa, followed by Tunisia, Senegal and Congo DR.

Our rivals to book a ticket to the 2018 World Cup, Algeria and Zambia, are placed 62nd and 79th respectively in the global ranking.

Germany have vaulted over Brazil as the best ranked nation; Portugal, Argentina and Belgium round up the top five.

Nigeria/Zambia: Eagles to Get Aiteo's N50m When They Reconvene for Zambia

The Technical partners of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), the AITEO Group, has promised to redeem the N50million it pledged to boost Super Eagles' World Cup 2018 qualifying clashes against Cameroon when the team reconvenes for its next game in October.

To boost Super Eagles against reigning African champions Cameroon, the management of Aiteo Group, Nigeria's foremost oil and gas company, pledged to given to the team N10 Million for every goal scored against the Indomitable Lions in the double header matches in Uyo and Yaounde.

John Mikel Obi and his teammates defeated the Lions 4-0 in Uyo before going to Yaounde to be held to a one-all draw game.

Speaking on how the N10million-per-goal pledge helped ginger Eagles to crush the Indomitable Lions in the ongoing Russia 2018 qualifiers, Executive Vice Chairman of the AITEO Group, Mr. Benedict Peters, expressed his happiness that the pledge spurred the senior national soccer team to consolidate its leadership of the Group B.

"Our ambition is to boost the performance of the Nigerian teams and return the country to the position of dominance in African football," stressed Mr Peters who watched both matches against Cameroon in Uyo and Yaounde live.

The N50million bonus to the team from the oil and gas giants, it was learnt may be donated by the players towards the treatment of the team's first choice goalkeeper, Carl Ikeme, who was diagnosed with acute leukaemia last July.

Mr. Peters added: "We are happy with the progress the Super Eagles are making, and are looking forward to having Ikeme return to action for the national team soon. This is our way of showing support for the team and the goalkeeper in particular. As a company, we are interested in the things that integrate and unite Nigerians, and we know that football is at the core of our national pride and international diplomacy."

The recent outstanding performances of the Super Eagles have been attributed to the financial stability the team now enjoys. Many of the team's key financial needs are being addressed by the N2.7billion sponsorship deal between the NFF and the AITEO Group which is ensuring that major outings of both the senior men and women national football
teams are extensively supported by the oil giant for the next five years.

He is mainly a right winger/right midfielder... didn't even feature in their last Two games but made the squad of invited players.

Guys to watch out for on the Zambian side are Enoch Mwepu (MF), Patson Daka (FW), Fashion Sakala- red carded against Algeria in the first leg in Zambia (Sir BascoVanVeli will tell you more), Brian Mwila (FW), Justin Shonga (Fw), Ernest Mbewe (MF), Kondwani Mtonga (MF), and Stophila Sunzu (DF).

Reps sure Eagles will thrash Chipolopolo to pick 2018 World Cup ticket
By Fidelis Ebu, Abuja

Super Eagles

Members, House of Representatives Committee on Sports have expressed confidence that the Super Eagles will beat the Chipolopolo in the crucial FIFA World Cup qualifier next month.

Danburam Abubakar, a member of the House Committee on Sports, said on Tuesday at the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretariat that the Eagles need not lose sleep over the Zambian national team for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup finals.

“Our players have learnt their bitter lesson against South Africa and everyone saw what the Eagles did to the Indomitable Lions of Cameroun. We are going to repeat same feat against Zambia,” he said.

Outside football, Abubakar expressed concern over the crisis dogging the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), which he said would be resolved by bringing the warring factions to a round table.

While reacting to the crisis rocking the NBBF board, Abubakar said the Committee would invite both factions involved in order to resolve the imbroglio before the November 30 deadline given by FIBA for the matter to be resolved.

“One of the motions to be tabled before the House would be that of the Basketball federation.

“We have decided to invite those involved in the crisis after our recess and bring them to the round table and our findings will be forwarded to the House during plenary session, where the matter will be discussed with the aim of resolving the whole issue,” he explained.

“It will not do us any good if we fold our arms and watch members of a sporting federation fight dirty, and an international organisation would come and mediate in the issue we are supposed to resolve amicably,” he added.

Aina Operates As Wing Back, Tomori Debuts, Ojo Assists As Hull Lose To Fulham

Hull City lost their second straight game in the EFL Championship on Wednesday night after they were beaten 2-1 by Fulham at Craven Cottage, with three Nigerian players starting the contest.

England U20 World Cup star Fikayo Tomori occupied the right side of central defense for the Tigers, teammate Ola Aina was deployed as a right wing-back and Liverpool loanee Sheyi Ojo operated from the wings.

The lively Ojo came close for Fulham but he was denied by goalkeeper McGregor, who clawed the ball off his head.

Three minutes before half-time, the Cottagers finally took the lead through Ayite, the Togolese striker was left with the simple task of tapping the ball in after an excellent delivery from Ojo.

Bowen equalized for the visitors in the 53rd minute and Johansen added his name to the score-sheet to restore Fulham's lead on 62 minutes.

Fikayo Tomori was the left back in a 4-4-2 formation following the introduction of Adama Diomande in the 82nd minute.

The Chelsea loanee was one of the four players nominated for Hull City's Man of the Match award, thanks to his imperious display on his debut.

Bobby Adekanye Debuts For Liverpool In 4-0 Demolition Of Sevilla In UYL

Nigerian-born winger Bobby Adekanye made his debut for Liverpool in the UEFA Youth League in their 4-0 demolition of Sevilla on Wednesday.

The Netherlands youth-teamer entered into the fray in the 60th minute for his maiden appearance in the prestigious youth competition.

Curtis Jones put the home side in front in the 23rd minute, before Herbie Kane doubled the advantage when he profited from a goal mouth scramble and it was 3-0 before the break courtesy of Jones' second of the evening.

Masterson wrapped up the victory in the 66th minute by producing a fine finish after controlling a free-kick from Woodburn.

Wednesday's clash against the Spaniards was Adekanye's second competitive appearance for the Reds across all levels since the season started, and he received a caution in the 83rd minute.

After the opening round of matches, Steven Gerrard's team top the group thanks to their superior goal difference over Maribor, who beat Spartak Moscow 1-0.

Magpies monitor Moscow target

Newcastle and Tottenham are continuing to monitor CSKA Moscow's Nigerian striker Aaron Olanare.

Scouts from both clubs were in attendance at the Stadium of Light in Lisbon on Tuesday as CSKA stunned Champions League Group A top seeds Benfica with a 2-1 away win.

Olanare, 23, is understood to be on the radar of several Premier League clubs, but Newcastle and Tottenham were following up on checks they made when CSKA beat Young Boys in the play-off round last month.

The Nigerian international is in his second season with CSKA, having signed on a free transfer from Chinese club Guangzhou Evergrande in January.

Olanare is under contract with CSKA Moscow until June 2021 and has been capped by Nigeria seven times.

PSG didn't only win but completely blew away their opponents. There were times in the match where Celtic tried to ask some questions of PSG's defence, but, the truth remains that Brendan Rogers men were thoroughly outclassed and out muscled!

Clarification on the deal between NTA/LMC

NPFL: 7 basic facts about the LMC/NTA deal

NPFL: 7 basic facts about the LMC/NTA deal

Lovers of Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) reacted with joy when the news of a broadcast production agreement between the league’s organizers, League Management Company (LMC) and Nigeria Televison Authority (NTA) broke out last week.

They have every right to be happy, as the just-ended league season recorded the lowest TV match coverage in the last four years due to renewal talks between the LMC and South African based company, Multichoice, owners of SuperSport kept under wraps.

The signing of the agreement by LMC Chairman Shehu Dikko and NTA’s Director General Yakubu Ibn Muhammed was the product of years of preparations by the LMC to control the production of the league content but in truth, not many understood the deal.

Beyond the euphoria of the announcement and expectation, ACLSports asked pertinent questions about the deal from LMC’s Head of Special Projects, Harry Iwuala and we arrive at these seven important facts.

Just like in EPL and La Liga, the LMC will now oversee the production and distribution of rights.
“There is going to be a private production company that will produce and distribute the images. In broadcast, online and on all platforms,” Iwuala told www.aclsports.com.

Previously, the broadcast right owners have always done the production by themselves, a burdensome approach. This surely means that there will be more buyers of the right (than one) and the content will be made accessible to all.

NTA will provide their 8 (eight) Outside Broadcast (OB) Vans, which have HD facilities for this purpose.
Many of the OB Vans were purchased at a high cost before the Under 17 World Cup in 2009 but have not been put to proper use. This new deal will see to the full utilization of these government resources and additionally, NTA staff and others that will join them will be fully mobilized.

Since it is their business, LMC will assist in upgrading of the equipment “for global competitiveness”.
“The operation of the company, as envisaged will rely on the services of international technical partners and domestic expertise to provide the much needed vehicle for the production of high quality programmes and events for broadcast in the sports and entertainment industries. This model is in keeping with proven international best practices in sports content production, distribution and broadcast,” LMC Chair, Dikko said during the signing.

Sequel to this, Iwuala informed us that “there is an ongoing audit of what is in the OB Vans, so once the audit is completed, we will find out what things that are not there and what things that needed to be upgraded.”

There will be production for all ten games, even if all may not go on live.

The availability of ten OB Vans across each match venue makes it possible and easy for production, but according to Iwuala, the only thing left is for the platforms to air the games.

He gave this illustration: “Channels TV could decide to buy the right to a match in Agege while another outfit might buy one in Ilorin.”

With NTA supplying the OB Vans, it is most likely that the government-owned agency will have access to broadcasting games live to Nigerians especially seeing they have stations in each state in Nigeria.

Games will now be spread out, more than ever before
“We will look at the issue of timing so that we could have some early kick-offs and midday kick-offs so that they will find space for the first games to end,” added Iwuala.

In recent seasons, the LMC have started innovations such as the Friday Night games, Double-Headers etc. It is expected now that these ideas will easily flow into the new broadcast regime.

The NPFL/La Liga partnership also extends to this broadcast production deal
The deal between these two leagues has seen some interesting developments over the past 12 months. An NPFL All Star team went on a tour of Spain last summer before La Liga backed an Under-15 tournament among NPFL clubs in April. Here is another intriguing detail.

“There are ongoing discussions with La Liga to have their production company provide technical expertise. The same company producing for La Liga produces for the EPL, so they are going to provide the technical expertise for the initial period,” Iwuala stated.

Win-Win Situation for viewers and buyers of the broadcast rights.
After the disappointment of the TV blackout at one stage of the just concluded season comes this cheering development and for the fans, Harry said:

“As a matter of fact, most times Nigerians complain that they can only see one or two matches in a week. Now is an opportunity for more games to be seen.”

SuperSport reportedly crumbled under the weight of having to buy the broadcast right and still bear 100% responsibility of the production cost, but for would-be buyers as from the next season, the production is taken care of.

We wait to see the actualization of these.

Just hope things works out well and realization of 10 matches in a week might come to pass...

I saw the upgrading of the 8 OB van fans of NTA to HD on YouTube which was done 2009 in Cardiff UK... Just hope things work out... This is the only game can unify us at this moment ... Kudos to LMC

Guys do you think its fair that the aiteo cup is being played in the same format like the FA cup(no neutral venues)?

Let give it to site and NFF and I hope this will bring more private sector into the game... And the transparency NFF promised them is working magic...

Zenith Bank too is part of them... Sponsoring u15 boys... All NFF need right now is our support...

The home and way fixture is a welcome development...

I want to see pepsi and coke coming back too.. They have one time or the other sponsor NFF... Just that mismanagement of fund made them back off...
