This country is a colossal mess. No one should be proud of being a part of it. only criminals with dual citizenship preach patriotism. I just watched videos of the uprising in Abia state and I cannot understand where we are heading. Others countries are determined to reconstruct their homes after the world war, and we are still here even after the Biafran civil war. the Hutus and Tutsis have healed, Sierra Leone and the RUF have healed etc. Nigeria is never meant to be and will never get it right.
For those who have made their ways out, stay there! This is not home at all.
It is a shame!
Our leaders are so ruthless. The only way out of this is a revolution. I don't know who can lead us. Is there any man left in that country?
where are you reporting from, within or outside Nigeria?

when nurses are on strike, they will tell me how they plan to operate..
what do nurses do that a doctor can't do?
Serve medications?Make beds?
Just tell them not to lock up instruments and equipments and go away wt d keys so we can see if anybody will notice their absence.

This is a blind argument, can the doctors continue to sleep in the ward with the patients and continue to administer drugs as at when due. This is a team of which none of stakeholders can arrogate the glory to herself.

That statement breeds strive.Every hospital worker is important but if one is absent ,others can improvise to fill the vacuum.

Abi, tell them o, d only thing that makes johesu strike affect the hospital is becos nurses lock up equipment and take d keys, lab scientists lock up d lab and take d keys, pharmacist lock up drugs and take d key. If they dont lock up everywhere, no one will notice their absence. The pathologist can do a far better job than d lab scientists, a 400lvl medical student can do a nurses job as well as the pharmacists job (watin pharmacist even dey do self, no b to read watin doctor write, cun bringam come out, anyone who can read and write can do pharmacists job). JOHESU is the main problem in the health sector, especialy the lab pple. Have u noticed that hospital mortality rates reduce when johesu is on strike.

Nursing procedures for critical patients(ICU) are done by doctors.

your hatred for other health workers will only give you BP. So Nurses are paid 40$/hr in some US states just to make bed and dispense drugs? Or the pharmacists that spent 5/6yrs in school is just to look up the name of a drug and give like a local chemist. Pathologist that don't know how a microtome works will replace the histoscientist or Resident doctor that can't differentiate between CLED and DCA media will carry out MCS? That is why the Nigerian healthcare will remain in shabbles when Doctors claim to know all, why don't you write to Federal Govt to scrap all other healthcare professions because you can do everything. easier said than done. those are just the neat aspect u mentioned, there are a lot you have not said if only you know the duties of a nurse. The hospital will be on a stand still if nurses go on strike..
what do the doctors do aside surgeries ? write medication on a piece of paper and walk away? ward rounds?

my guy i have been posted to icu b4 and i know what's up, what are u even saying, who care for those patients when the doctors are away, doctors chose to do those things because they are scared nurses will take the jobs from them, and such things only happens in teaching hospitals, go to private hospitals and see the difference. things like fixing of IV lines are termed doctors procedures, does that mean a nurse can't do it? am still a student and i can fix an IV line let alone a Nurse with years of experience. be it as it may, aside surgeries the doctors work are limited

My brother,a nurse or pharmacist can't fill d gap of a doctor.
When these ppl(paramedicals) are on strike,if they or their children get sick, they still make out time to see or consult a doctor even if on d phone.Na then U go see matron of 30yrs experience consulting a house officer who is d most junior doctor, less than a year experience.
They only form that 'I can do d doctor's job' wt d unfortunate members of d public.

When ARD, MDCAN or NMA are on strike are the consulting rooms open? Who takes over the consulting rooms? Why then will YOU take over premises of those on strike? No matter how you want to garnish it learn to respect others and do that which you are trained to do; not like they will pay you their salary for doing so smh.

It's because of this mentality our health indices are 187/191 very bad indeed. Jack of all trade.....killer of all

consulting rooms are locked because johesu members don't know how to use them, or do nurses want to start consulting patients.....on the other hand, doctors can use the lab, pharmacy and others perfectly well so why lock them.

Deep within you, you know the truth, if johesu go on strike and leaves d pharmacy, lab and equipment open, no one will feel or notice their absence, but if doctors go on strike and leave the consulting rooms open for johesu, hmmm, I pity the unfortunate patients.

Our health indices don't lie, you are just a true reflection of our 187/191. Yet you don't pity the unfortunate patients these doctors will attend to? Quite ironical.

If doctors can lock up consulting rooms during strike so do others when they are on strike and besides not like they take the keys home it's always submitted to the hospital management.

Well just learn to respect others no matter the divide you find yourself. Healthcare isn't a one man show as seen in MEDIEVAL ERA , now its a collective effort from everyone (patient centred system).

You are a brilliant human being, your post has intelligence written over it. I'm in awe of you, sir.
