Hey,
The next day after you give birth the hospital birth registrar would visit you with details needed for the BC. After you leave the hospital you should get it latest 2 weeks from your local county office.
BOmum:
Please mothers in the house that used HNWMC how did you go about getting the birth certificate and how long did it take. A quick response will be highly appreciated

It's $190.

Do you mind sharing you visa and POE transcript with the house? And ur cost breakdown in California, for all to benefit from? Nothing much to read from u other than requests, ma.

Lol. That was rather harsh grin ..you could have asked nicely

I had a valid visa before now.
POE was quite straight forward.

Poe: passport pls
Me: handed over d passport
Poe: purpose of visit
Me: To have my baby
Poe: Have you been to the US before
Me: yes thrice
Poe: do you have family here
Me: my sister
Poe: is she a green card holder or citizen
Me: Citizen
Poe: how much do you have on you
Me: 8k dollars
Poe: it costs way more to have your baby in the US
Me: yes I know. I have some cash in my credit card and my husband will also support if there's need for extra cash.
Poe: do you have proof for all these?
Me: hands her my statement of acc, mail correspondence with hospital, husband's payslip, return ticket to nigeria.
Poe: hands back my documents, ok ensure you have your receipts when next you come around so you not denied entry.
Me: ok
Poe: Good luck with your baby and enjoy your stay in the US.

There is a lot of info on giving birth in LA on this thread- do a quick search and then ask questions for clarification if you have any.
Hi Fyorgyn! If can assist me with this question. I'm currently in LA. I saw your post where you talked about collecting bc
1. The lady you met in hospital for the bc, was it after you have given birth. Becos I want to pay at the hospital and I was told that it takes 2mnths to get the original bc, that u can only collect the temporary one. Haven't given birth yet
2. You sed the circumcision was beautifully done, who did yours?
3. The peadiatrician that saw your baby after you left the hospital. Pls can I have the contact n how times did you visit.
Thanks in wait for your response

Guess that's about it.

Please for emphasis sake u mean 5500 includes epidural, doctor, prenatal appointments, and anything delivery entails including tests done on d baby and so on. Then one more visit after the baby is born.

What about hospital bill? Or this is all plus hospital too. If yes then it seem like a good deal. Also do you have an idea the cost of accomodation for 2 months within that visinity?

All is included plus hospital bills. Yea its a very good deal, but it would be increased in some months time. So if you booking, would advise you do so now.

You'll have to check online for accommodation cost cos I don't have to get one. But California's accommodation is quite on the high side.

Hello Everyone, In the Spirit of Giving back, I got my ticket in May, which made it quite Cheap compare to Now......I got to MMA and I was first miss lead my the Delta attendants on the weight of luggage to be checked in. I was told 23Kg per bag so i had to remove some stuffs out waiting for my hobby to come carry them back home... so when my hobby came and he asked why then he spoke to one of them saying this is a Business Class ticket why 23kg..... then they said oh sorry, I was shocked because i showed them my ticket..... Anyway, after checking in and clearing with Custom..... Went straight to the Business Class Lounge which was nice and i enjoyed the meal...... I was told it was time to go the plane... anyway when i was about boarding, The lady attendant that gave me a wrong information came and said Madam, you have been selected amongst a few passagers to be searched for extensive search and i said Okay... which one be extensive search again.... anyway thats how they use a small leaflet to touch my cloths, finger shoes and bag.... anyway the other lady now looked at my ticket and said oh you are business class and i said yes... so she apologised and i said oh no, you are doing your job... I think they must have been looking for me in the waiting area and maybe because they did not see me they might thought abi i don go swallow with my Big Belle... hahaha... anyway I no mind sha, so we boarded and lagos on a 12 Hours straight Flight and it was a smooth flight, I just couldn't eat any of there food......Got to ATL and first, i had the electronic filled out information then Proceeded to the CBP.

Me: goood Morning
CBP: Silent ( Did not answer )
Me: then I kept quiet and waited for him to talk
CBP: Passport Please
Me: Handed over my Passport with the Ticket
CBP: why are you here
Me: To Have my babies
CBP: When was the last time you were here
Me: 2015
CBP: Who is going to pay for the bill
Me: Myself and my husband
CBP: what do you do?
Me: I manage and Hotel
CBP: Do you have family in the US
Me: Yes but i'm not going to them
CBP: So where are you going
Me: To see My Family Friend
CBP: Where
Me: Houston
CBP: How much do you have
Me: 9500
CBP: Is that all you have
Me: Yes
CBP: Are you sure you don't have more?
Me: No i don't have more
CBP: Stamped me in and said nothing else but he kept shaking his head like I did something wrong
Me: I collected my Passport and Waka Sharp Sharp

I proceeded on a long walk to look for my luggage before proceeding to my connecting flight.... then while i was waiting and looking confused an police officer came to me and said madam do you have a minute, I said yes please, so he asked if i was okay and i said yes i'm fine.... just trying to figure out where i'm connecting my flight....My luggage was heavy and i was tired.
So he asked...

Po: why are you here?
Me: To have my babies
Po: Babies?
Me: Yes Babies
2nd Po was passing by and he made a comment..... Congratulations and he smiled and walked
Po: are you connecting a Flight?
Me: Yes
Po: Where Pls
Me: To Dallas but final destination is Houston
Po: Have you made plans with a hospital and doctor
Me: Yes i have
PO: Can i see
Me: Yes Sir, then I showed him my phone picture first, so he can see the receipt of payment for the Dr with the Zero Balance
Me: Then, I showed the Printed Communication with the Dr
PO: then he said this message says you are 11weeks
Me: I answered that was back in Apr or May, Check the date
Po: Oh Oh, you started communication quite early
Me: Yes, My husband likes to Plan ahead
Po: Congratulations Madam
ME: Thank You

Good evening everyone
Please a quick one . The hospital am using is in Houston tx and I stated during the interview that i will be staying in dallas .
But am planning to go through indianapolis airport cause am thinking of using indiana hospital now the host is more receptive
Just wanted to know if that won't give a red flag
And any details about indianapolis poe will be appreciated. Thank you

It wont be an issue. Just have your onward ticket to Dallas whether flight ticket or train or bus and you are cool.

if you plan to stay in Indianapolis first just have hotel or accommodation plans handy too.

Used to make payments overseas from your bank. Mamas and papas use it to pay for hospital bills if your provider accepts it. Your bank will tell you more...

Hello house
Please planning to travel with emirate to Dallas , though my final destination is Indianapolis . I read in some post that the journey is longer compare to other airways not really safe for pregnant women
Please reviews on emirate flight from past missionary mothers will be appreciated. Thanks

Will be using st Vincent hospital in Indiana. Looking forward to post my experience here since there's no much information here for hospitals in Indiana
Wish me luck grin cheesy

I used Emirates to Houston at 35 weeks plus and had no issue. For the return journey, the layover is more than 8 hrs but there is a complimentary accomodation by emirates. While its a bit longer compared to some other airline like BA, its not entirely bad. On safety, it depends on how far gone u re and if u dont ve medical issues like swollen feet etc when u re on the same spot for a long time.

Hello everyone,
This is going to be a long post but I hope someone would learn from it like I have from other posters.
Flew AirFrance, LOS-CDG flight was ok though plane was like 100yrs old undecided
AirFrance 10hrs layover in Paris gave me time to check-in to Yotel (airport hotel) and sleep comfortably.
Nightmare started before boarding CDG-NY flight.
Flight was over booked and 40 people had to be offloaded. Volunteers to go on next flight 3hrs later were requested with a 300Euros compensation.
I eventually took compensation cos the delay would have caused me to miss my NY-ORD local flight and I would have needed to buy a new ticket.
Anyways got to NY around 10pm exhausted and requested a wheelchair. Was wheeled straight to immigration point (no queuing)

POE Conversation
Elderly black man, nice and asked me not to stand up from my chair.
Me: Hello (I smile)
POE: (smiles back) Hello. Can I have your passport? What are you here for?
Me: For holiday and have my baby later in the year
POE: Are you an immigrant?
Me: (Confused) No
POE: Asks me to 10-thumb print and was about to stamp passport
(This is my 4th US visa since 2008 with about 12 US trips so far so figured he didn’t have issues with me)
POE: Ma'am you'll have to go to the office
Me: OK no problem.
Was taken to the office and waited about 3mins
Office POE (Mexican): Looked and me says hello ma'am can you walk?
Me: Definitely
Office POE: Ok pls step forward. He sees me wince as I get up. Smiles condescendingly and says "Lemme guess why are you in America?"
Me: I am on holiday and having my baby later in the year (December)
Office POE: Looks at my passport and say "What did you tell them you were coming to do when you got your visa?"
Me: (knew what he was implying) I got my visa a long time ago (August 2016)
Office POE: That's not what I asked you
Me: Ok I said was coming on holiday. It was my regular dropbox renewal.
Office POE: So why are you using it for something else? (Didn't travel to US last year due forex drama)
Me: Well I am currently here on holiday. Will be going visiting in Chicago, North Carolina and Dallas before going to Houston later next month (I have tickets for all these trips already)
Office POE: Yes but did you inform the consular about that?
Me: Yes but I was told it was not necessary to inform them since I got my visa long before I conceived. (I didn't call but I knew from this forum)
Office POE: Really? They said so? Who did you tell?
Me: The US embassy in Lagos
Office POE: I know…where?
Me: Walter Carrington VI (am slightly annoyed at this point and glare at him)
Office POE: So why can’t you have your baby in Nigeria?
Me: I want the best medical treatment I can get
Office POE: So you don’t have doctors in Nigeria?
Me: We in fact have very good doctors in Nigeria but do not have the best infrastructure. They can only work with what they have
Office POE: Ok so do you have contact with a doctor in the US?
Me: Yes. (hands him my printed correspondence, proof of deposit to gynae and estimated bill doc sent me
Office POE: Why did you pay only $1000?
Me: Because my gynae fees are only about $3000 and I was asked to deposit a minimum of $250. However, the rest of the fees are directly to the hospital who I have contacted already. But due to the hurricane, I have been unable to process any payments as they have bigger emergencies right now.
Office POE: How much do you have?
Me: $12000 right now. $4000 in cash rest in my BOA account (I tried to show him my bank statement)
Office POE: So how do you intend to survive till December?
Me: I am only paying hospital bills and shopping for baby as I am staying with family. However, my husband will send me $xxxx every month extra till December
Office POE: (With sarcasm) and where will all this money come from?
Me: From earnings of course. We work. (I am calm but obviously ticked off at this point)
Office POE: How much do you earn?
Me: Show him husband's payslip and my business profile etc...
Office POE: (barely glancing at it) So you want to spend half of all your earnings on having a baby?
Me: (looks at him incredulously cos I don't know what he was calculating) Half? That is not up to half
Office POE: Ms xxxxx, you are very well spoken and seem to be an intelligent woman. So let’s do the calculations
Me: Yes I am an intelligent woman. I just showed you my husband's payslip and my business docs and that is not up to half plus we have two other businesses which I run (We do the calculation together and he was wrong in saying half)
Office POE: (He asks to see cash and I show him) He pauses and says I am worried that you seem to have come on expedition to America and with no concrete plans about the birth.
Me: I just explained to you why I have not made any full payments. There is a hurricane in Houston which I cannot control. In fact I have made alternative arrangements with McArthur OBGYN in Dallas in case there is an emergency before I get to Houston.
Office POE: My problem is you people… (I interrupt him and say which people?)
Office POE: (He says can you let me finish and I say ok but you need to allow me defend myself too) Foreigners come into the country and don’t pay their bills then become a liability to the US govt. You…
Me: (I cut in) What have I said to make to believe I am one of them? I showed you money and bank statements, documents to prove I have a birth plan with a doctor which you barely looked at. I definitely showed I have more than enough money to pay my bills and I have no records of breaking the law in any of my past trips
Office POE: (he flips through my two passports and see a lot of travel) What is the longest you’ve stayed in the US?
Me: 1 time was 4weeks, all the rest were between 1-3weeks
Office POE: So who is in Chicago, NC, Dallas?
Me: Family
Office POE: So since you know all this, why didn’t you pay for medical insurance?
Me: (Looking confused) Medical insurance? I don’t live or work in the US. How?
Office POE: Yes you can get medical insurance (in retrospect, I now realize he was baiting me)
Me: (at this point I was thinking toh, wo send me back if you want am tired) I honestly don’t know anything about a non-resident paying for medical insurance. You are just giving me new information. I have medical insurance at home and they will cover part of this bill too
Office POE: (he nods at the officer sitting next to him and thumbs up to someone behind me. I guess they had all been watching my body language) Ms xxxx I truly wish you all the best with your baby. I honestly dont mean you any harm. Pls just ensure you do the right thing and pay your bills. (he smiles and stamps my passport)
Me: No problem. I will. Thank you (was too tired to smile back)
Office POE: He gives my passport to dept of agric and they wheel me to another office
Agric officer: How many bags do you have? Do you have food?
Me: 1 bag. Only bouillon cubes. Beef flavor
2nd agric officer: Only one? Are you not Nigerian? No yam, egusi, indomie, dry fish etc
Me: (smiling) none of that. Just bouillon cubes
Agric Officer: Then this would be easy (everyone in the office is cracking jokes with me at this point asking me to stay and gist with them and all)
They scan my bag, give me my passport and wish me all the best with my baby.
The wheelchair guy insisted on taking me to my taxi. Since I had missed my ORD flight, I was sleeping in NY. Gave him a $20 tip for his help (plus he had seen my $4000 earlier, so didn’t want story. As a sharp Lagos girl, I had gone into the toilet and put the envelope inside my sokoto NY at almost midnight abeg I cannot shout). He kept saying God bless you.
Here ends my long, drama filled waka. Sorry it is so long but put in all the details cos it might help someone. Even when the POE officer is being difficult, stand your ground and be confident cos they are trying to break you in case you are being dishonest.
All future preggy travelers, wish you all the best grin

For the NICS bill, I had a $600 budget for it based on prior research. There's no way of knowing what the bill will be because you're charged based on the services your baby gets (this is what the NICS lady I spoke with over the phone and the lady who came in to do the hearing test said).

Getting the zero balance from Baylor was not easy at all. I called them DAILY! If what you meant by automated bill is the $30k+ bill they sent me, then yes. I had to keep calling to tell them I was self pay and pre-paid the flat rate fee which they confirmed and kept promising to send my zero balance. I kept on calling daily. I still got the $30k bill like two more times before I left the US. Didn't get my zero balance letters until like 2-3 months after I'd come back to Naij. So just keep calling them if you're in this situation.

Let me know if you need any more info

hello everyone,
1) Please when filling the ds 160 for a toddler accompanying his mother, does one select the b2 visa also or the b1/b2 visa option?
2) Also for the contact in the US option, since the mother has no relatives there, the doctor's office was chosen as a contact, my question now is does one still choose this same contact for the toddler in his ds 160 form.
Thanks

1. B1/B2 for your toddler.

2. Use your accommoodattion provider e.g your hotel. the vo at least expect you have plans for accommodation. USE the doctor as last resort because its you seeking medical attention not your toddler.

Success.
