It's monthly
8% is your contribution
10% is that of your employer
This is how the contributory pension scheme operates

No, what it means is that if you are to be paid 55k monthly. Fg would deduct 8% of your 55k and pay it into your retirement savings account managed by your pension fund administrator (example stanbic ibtc or arm or pal pension). This is your own contribution. (Employee)
Now the second part is the one your employer (fg) would pay into your retirement savings account also. So if gross salary is 55k, then 10% of it is what government would get and pay into your retirement savings account. So in the end on a monthly basis government would be crediting your RSA with roughly 8k or 10k or 13k (which is a combination of your 8% and their 10%) as the case may be. And you would be getting alert for it from your PFA
Now your salary or take home would drop because of this deduction and other deductions like NHIS and Tax.
The money in your RSA cannot be touched by you till you retire or other conditions are met as prescribed by your PFA

From my careful and personal observation of those who were favoured with appointment letters at the commission, I was able to discover the pattern of selection of candidates across all the 36 states and the FCT. Those who applied for Education Officer or anything 'Education', had more people selected than any other position applied for. Some states shortlisted 15 candidates for interview under Education, in the end, like 10 candidates got appointment letters, and some that shortlisted like 19 candidates, had like 14 offered appointment letters.I mean under Education. The case is different for every other job positions applied for. If you applied under BPP or MFA or any ENGINEERING courses where only 3 or 4 candidates were shortlisted for interview, just know that it is only one person that will be given appointment letter. The performance of the interview MAY not even be used in the selection of the one person. The Commissioner may decide to pick the person with a PASS DEGREE ahead of the person with a FIRST CLASS or 2:1 and nothing will happen, even if the FIRST CLASS candidate still did better than the PASS DEGREE candidate in the interview. External influence may make them pick two persons from that list of 3 or 4, but it is very rare. And if you are the only person picked in a list containing only 3 or 4 names in a highly competitive job like this, then you are favoured. "Highly Favoured" is the better expression to use here.

8% of your monthly salary goes to your P F A, then the govt pays 10% out of their pocket for you. Everything amounts to 18% monthly .You are responsible for only 8% in regards to Pension.

You don't write acceptance yourself. Your ministry would do that, there's a template form you gonna fill.
