Same with me . My boy is also 9yo and he has already started JS1. Born 26/9/2007. He jumped from Prim 2 to Prim 4. Then took State common entrance in Prim 5 and scored 72/100. His immediate older bro entered sec at age 10. Am in Abia, from there too. When Abia wins WAEC nxt time some people will start blabbing about miracle centres.
That was exactly the case with my child.

have you heard about skipping classes or double promotion? A child could spend just 3 years in primary and 3 years in secondary school. It is called intelligence.
My 9 years old child is starting JSS1 this September. In 4 years time when he leaves secondary school and enters higher institution at 13, don't come here and shout "ojoro".

Allow that boy's brain to fully devlop. There are disadvantages to this.

That is where your expectations will be cut off............... No school will accept a 13 year old into universities
in Nigeria? No. The girl we are discussing in this topic didn't achieve this feat in Nigeria. There are definitely many options abroad.

That was a harsh remark to make of someone's child
well, in your own case, your destiny has probably jumped ahead of you to embrace someone else.
My boy is exactly where his destiny has placed him.
Entry ages were based on average. Proper who truly want to go far in life are never limited by age requirements. Gowon became a head of state at 29, even when his country's constitution stipulated over 40 and he became the longest serving head of state in Nigeria in a single term..

Well, when Access Bank places a cap on the age (24 maximum) one can apply for her entry level positions, you cannot blame the parents. Coupled with the strike situation in our varsities.

guy, he is definitely not wasting 6 years in secondary school. Maximum, 4 years. I ain't bragging. I am a teacher and I know my boy knows things that some ss3 students don't know.
I responded thus earlier on because you sounded as if it was strange that 18 years is already studying for her PhD

Good for your boy, but I can assure he does not know all of what ss3 boys know. You can imagine a precocious ss3 student that did not skip class.

That is not even material, what I am saying, it is really not a big deal for an 18 years old to have scholarship to phd particularly when we have a 19 years old with a PhD.

For what ever it us worth there is no basis rushing your kid let them enjoy their childhood. I have a precocious child at age four that can read any thing but he is not rushing any thing he will enjoy his childhood like I enjoyed mine.

Mechionu ngi. You guys celebrate mediocrity, there is no big deal in graduating at age 18, in a sch in us.it could have been a feat in Nigeria, but us where there is no strike and a session is not one and half years due to ASUU strike.

It seems there is something unusual about Igbo ladies & women...they project the Igbo attributes better than their male counterparts. Just checkout out the list....Chimamanda Adichie, Dora Akunyili, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and now this budding star Nkechi Chidi-Ogbolu. As for the men, the names that come to mind are Evans, Kanu Nnamdi, Orji, Mbaka, and those Alaba & Ladipo spare parts boys.

Welcome to my part of the country.
The university she's going to is in Saccromento the capital of California. There are many Nigerians who attend that University.

Welcome to U C Davis.

It's definitely not a lie in the United States. Didn't you read that she took the SATs at 13, well that meant that she was too Intelligent to go to High School, that would be a waste of time so they skipped her to college because of her high SATs scores.

For normal students the SAT tests are tests that they have to take in order to graduate after 4 years of highschool but baby girl was so smart that she took the tests at age 13 and passed with flying colors so what would be the point in her going to HS.
Now she has graduated from Howard and has received a scholarship from UCDavis to work towards her PHD. Bless her hard working heart.

Let me correct you on this, in the United States when a child graduates from College not Highschool at 18 it's a very big deal. To do so would mean that the child entered the University at the tender age of 13/14 and that's rare.

Then you are holding him back intellectually, his mind should be stimulated. Imagine that your child has the intellect of a 12 year old and you have him stuck mentally in a classroom full of 5 year olds learning what 5 year olds are being taught. He can still have a good education as well as a good childhood.

With little I know about education a child doing well with cognitive intelligence but badly with spatial and emotional intelligence will wait for his brain to be well cultivated before moving to the next class.

A graduate at 18 in US is not a big deal, there are several people that graduated below the age par, the gifted students at least and the last time I checked they have over 100, 000 thousand of them in us.

Check the list of Tesla members.

Personally I know a girl of 19 years that was called to the Nigeria bar as a lawyer at the age of 19, that is after spending 5 years plus at oau due to strike and a year at law skul, she went to Harvard for her llm and was the third best graduating llm student.

What you people celebrate is not worth celebrating there are several people blazing trails and not reinventing the wheel cos the person of your tribal lot.

She has done well but she has not blaze any trail.

My statement about the girl isn't tribal, I'm American not African. You seem to downplay the girl achievements because she's not of your tribe. Just give this girl time, she will shine just as the Tesla group, as a matter of fact she's already shining, give props where props is due.
