I have been following this thread for long and also doing some little publishing on kdp but I got stucked in the area of formatting my book
I preview my book before Publishing and noticed some not so good result
Pls help a brother on how to format
Note:i am good with Ms word but publishing on kdp requires kdp style pattern
Pls help on the type of formatting and probably software or app to use

bro, if u a are good in ms word you don't need any special software. Format your document and save it in .doc (2003) format* and upload.

I wrote the answer and posted but somehow it seems my post did not appear.

And @helpfulposts, thanks for your answer. You got it right.

Yes just do your writing with MS word, save as a .doc or .docx

Then upload to Kindle to do the conversion. That is all.

Sometimes the free version of Copyscape may fail. What I advice is that you still run your works through any of the Copyscape alternative sites. That way you become double sure it is 100% unique. You can get someone on Fiver to rewrite the contents for you.
You can also run the contents through a Re-writer software. After that you check for grammatical errors and still do some
manual rewriting.

Just do whatever you have to do because this works. The first book I wrote sold over $100 the first month and continues to sell even till now..

But after preparing my book and using the previewer on kdp.. .i noticed some mismatch ...thats why am asking the questions
Or will kdp still do proper rearrangement after the preview

Forget about this kindle previewer tool, just format according to the kindle standard, save it as .doc and publish your book

I do not use a software to rewrite. I do it manually and that works all the time.

I would suggest you take your time and rewrite the whole book yourself. It's overwhelming, but it's worth the effort at the end. If you cannot rewrite it yourself, get a writer to help you.

I had one that I personally coached on writing; now he's a boss on Fiverr, I can't ask him to write for me again as he's always busy. So I found two new people. I was looking for best sellers categories on kdp to follow your instructions from your eBook. i couldn't get the table of contents from one of the bestsellers ebooks i had interest in, i couldn't even see the description.please how do you go around this because the table of contents and description will be a guide to me on the aspect of keyword research. How do you go around this.

hamlak thanks for this thread. I knew about publishing on Amazon a year ago, but not till of recent that I started writing for publishing. To be precise, I started the publishing journey on the 1st of September 2017 and I published my first book on Oct 12. Right now I have 6 books but haven't sold a dime.

Is this how it was for you at the initial stage when you started? I feel like giving up but hell no. What do you think?

To rewrite, take it paragraph by paragraph starting from the first page. You read a paragraph and
then rewrite it in your own words. Do that till the end. It is hard word but pays in the end.

Yes when it comes to filing your bank, select USA as your bank country. You do not
need to be resident in the US to do this on Amazon.

If you cannot see the TOC for a particular bestseller, move on to the
next book. Some books of not have a Table of content especially if it
has a small number of pages.

To get relevant keywords that people are searching, you can use the
tool at this page. You may need to register free to use this.

Maybe it is a new requirement to have your bank info in place before publishing since Amazon
is going to phase out the cheque payment method next month. I think they want to be sure they
would be able to pay you once you publish and make a sale.

Do not let this stop you. You can sign up at www.Draft2digital.com/oke and publish to 8
different places including Amazon from there. Their system is easy to understand. Just upload
your word document and they will do the whole thing for you. Check them out.

You can start there and eventually when you sort out with Amazon, you can publish your book
with amazon directly. That way you earn more in royalty. I think it is about 10% difference if
you go through D2D, but D2D will make things easy for you.

You need to get a government issued ID as soon as possible.
