The funniest and most expensive joke I have heard from Nigerians doing menial jobs in the US. and earning between $1,500- $2,000, is claiming that they are richer than bank managers in Nigeria. I guess they make their money in America while spending it in Nigeria. This stupid joke need to stop. A Nigerian doing menial job in the US. at best can be compare to someone receiving 80,000 Monthly in Nigeria in purchasing power. A Nigerian doing odd jobs for 10 yrs will still be paying rent while a 10 yrs bank manager would have long built two to three houses with a lucrative investment. Nigerians in America need to stop converting currencies because it is clearly stated that if you earn $12,000 annually in America you are living in poverty

You are correct in your submission.

I dont argue blindly so i am adding a link so everyone can view. Only 15% of Americans have $10,000 in the bank. Even most cant come up with $500 and i am talking about first class citizens not Nigerians who can be classified as third class immigrants.

Why we love America, because it's a civilized place to live in, you don't see it citizens practicing JUNGLE JUSTICE, the basic amenities such as light, roads etc are available for the common man.
Do you know how ashamed I get seeing my POLICE collecting bribe in public?
or how AREA BOYS beat up people in public and nobody can stop them, everybody just looks.

Oh, why don't you compare a more useful thing such as the educational sector of both countries?

Even Nigerian companies will prefer to employ a USA undergraduate to a Unilag Professor, why because, since 1960 till date, where can you find the black man in the history of invention with our current educational system.

Graduates here cannot even produce anointing oil.

if money is your only criteria, well you are wrong, we all know ALL FINGERS ARE NOT EQUAL... so don't compare yourself with anybody but hustle and make it

Edited: We also love America because they have fuel.

I agree, so many Americans don't have up to $10,000 in their bank accounts that's a fact. But so many Nigerians don't have a saving at all, let's not even quote figures... grin

Pidgin2 has definitely gone to recruit her fellow people who have been constantly rejected by Walter Carrington.

There's really no need to lie to ourselves.

While America is no bed of roses, someone doing menial jobs in America will definitely be well of than a regular banker in Nigeria even if the persona doing menial jobs spends his entire money in the US.

The fact that after paying taxes, one can get uninterrupted power supply, good roads, great food is enough to discountenance whatever arguments you have. In America, the dream is not necessarily to own a house there but to live a comfortable above average life. Here in Nigeria, the dream is to build a house, whether in Sango Ota, Mowe or one obscure village where you will probably be kidnapped, robbed or killed.

Let's not kid ourselves, really.

True. Cost of living, taxes etc.... Paying for gas, cable, insurance, food (this one can take up to $200 a month), rent (depending on wer u live, $400-$700 a month)... Phone bills, and not to talk of miscellaneous...

After spending a month in the mid-west (which is far cheaper than NY, Cali and co) my eye open o.
Lol.

After all the expenses, who will want to pay tithe? Most people don't. Cos the money isnt even enough. Just a few dole out that 10% .

Sorry dear, American visa is nothing. Maybe 20 yrs ago but not in 2017. When someone points this truth counter the topic and not the individual. Can you compare someone doing menial job or even a Registered Nurse in America to a bank manager in Nigeria. Come on let's be frank and honest.

Please remove RN from your list....
Specialist nurses/ nursing practitioners earn as much as 10 thousand dollars a month....
Even in the us, that's good money, putting u in the upper middle class echelon....

Utter nonsese and rubbish.. WTF! At a certain stage in life, its not abt what you earn, but the life you're raising your kids to have. In most of those worlds, knowing ur root, your children get the best in education and life and become ten to fifty times more successful than their parents.. In Nigeria, nothing. your children are raised with their future bleak. Their futurre stolen by idiots called politicians and they too start craving of leaving the country when they become of age to go do d menial jobs

It will take an American hustler 20yrs to save for a 20% downpayment for a house. Thats just 40kusd for an average $200,000 house. It will take him another 30yrs to pay back the loan of $160,000 excluding interest. Thats 50yrs to own a single house. Enough time for even a bricklayer and shoemaker to build two houses in Nigeria

The truth is Nigeria is where the money is ,there should be no controversy about that BUT when it comes to living a normal life within limited resources then abroad is the place. This is why many ppl even prefer to have their vacation outside nigeria. A person with 2500 a month can live a normal life with constant water and other basic amenities within his little but for one to enjoy such in nigeria the person will spend through his nose

Same thing I have been telling people everytime but they don't agree. You can only do the conversion when the money gets home.

In Lyon currently, even earning €30k annual salary means you will live a basic life. Same as someone with a 80k salary in Nigeria. Earning under €20k means you are living under the poverty line. Not even with a tax rate of 30%.

Don't think about owning a car or raising a family with a €20k salary in Lyon. I'm sure it's either you are homeless, sharing a room with such a salary in Paris.

And yet, I see these same people flashing all over Facebook but people back home don't know.

you are the most sensible critic i have ever met here besides me...Perhaps it's because you are exposed though ..I don't know you could check my chats, there was a nicompu here that accused me of being envious bla bla when i tried to explain same thing you just explained here..Nice one bro..

I completely agree and I'm even around to further answer any questions...I know alot of things about living abroad..And like a told a pal yesterday i have never been a fan of depending on salary..If you live abroad and depend on salary and u claim u living high...U are a liar...My childhood friend here is a doctor and he earns 33k euros annually ofcourse is on high tax cuz he isn't married and no kids..
