well with 250k you can get a nice two bedroom in most states in Nigeria

That amount won't get you a room self con in Abuja, Lagos or PH which can't even measure with any city in America in social amenities. Stop the exaggerations. Do you even live in Nigeria? This country is hell and you are here talking trash from statistics you got from the Internet.

Do you know what the average bank manager earns atall?

Allow me educate you, seems like you don't..A Masters/PhD bank manager earns atleast 1.2 Million Per Month... You can't compare this with the yankee hustler..
people in America are not thr to count bridge they hustle tight and they hv what to show for it, my friend earns 700$ per week that's 2,800$ in a month he pays 200$ for accommodation only African food is expensive thr with 2-5 dollars u can eat good food, he pays his tfair with 1-2 & including cents.. Most of this guy's sends thr savings to naija to either build houses or other investment because they know they can't be thr forever... How many people earns 500k in Nigeria and u will still hv to buy fuel every night, average salary for naija graduate is 50k that's if u even get the job

back from ghost modegrin

Bro one thing you don't understand about America is that they don't have African man mentality where you save millions in the bank (bank doing business with your money and making cool cash). Americans enjoy life as if rapture will happen tomorrow, they already have everything running smoothly for them. So why saving? Forget about the issue of money in the bank for Americans cos they don't give a f** about that.

over & outgrin

It will take an American hustler 20yrs to save for a 20% downpayment for a house. Thats just 40kusd for an average $200,000 house. It will take him another 30yrs to pay back the loan of $160,000 excluding interest. Thats 50yrs to own a single house. Enough time for even a bricklayer and shoemaker to build two houses in Nigeria

You're too mechanical. The opportunities the American hustler is exposed to will almost never come across the path of even the Nigerian bank manager. You're talking about the unsmart hustler. See there's something called credit ratings, with good credit ratings alone, hustlers go into housing, real estate, and more and they do fine, they buy stuffs at low prices and sell in short term making enormous savings...You've not met the smart hustlers, in just 4 years, they become mega millionaires..Trust me, i know folks in the biz...

Stop kidding, it all depends on the individual. I have a friend that prior to completing his 4 year course built a 2 storey apartment, sent his dad a late model pathfinder, has car, lives in a good apartment from 3k dollars monthly salary. First he saved to buy a taxi, drove it after school hours.

You can live on a thousand dollars a month in the states, rent inclusive. It depends on the individual, I have a friend in London that works in her dad's company, earns thousands of pounds monthly but complains that it's not enough all the time. When she came to visit me in Accra, she ate KFC everyday, transport to every place on uber, I saw why money is never enough for her.

Sorry dear, American visa is nothing. Maybe 20 yrs ago but not in 2017. When someone points this truth counter the topic and not the individual. Can you compare someone doing menial job or even a Registered Nurse in America to a bank manager in Nigeria. Come on let's be frank and honest.

I understand your position but I think you are not looking at it wholly. Let me use Netherlands for instance someone doing a menial job and earning 1800 Euros per month life's value is even better than that of a bank manager in Nigeria. Yes, the residual income of the bank manager is higher likewise his physical assets.

But what the guy in Netherlands takes for granted; security, social welfare, access to affordable and world class health facility, ability to send his children to the best school in the country without sweating about it is a luxury to the bank manager.

Yes, money wise the bank manager has more residual income but the life of the guy in Netherlands has more value than that of the bank manager so the question is how do you measure quality of life based on money in your bank account or free and easy access to the things that makes your life comfortable? The choice is yours and it is different for everyone.

It is the plain truth. It is impossible to save 10kusd annually in the united states, even those with a paying job of $75,000 cant save that much. Do you know what it means to have $100,0000 in cash in america? 85% of americans dont have it and i am even talking about first class citizens

Americans would rather save like mad for a 4000 USD vacation.
They don't joke with that at all.
There's too much added stress in nigeria for the average Joe, no electricity, poor healthcare- sorry is your case of you fall ill, air pollution everywhere, all sorts of unmonitored dangerous processed foods, body creams that people use.
There's a reason the life expectancy of Nigerians is much lower than the Americans and other westerners. They live till old age, and actually live life. We just continue to hustle till death searching for what is lost.
In your comparisons, you should have compared a bank manager abroad to one in Nigeria, a Dr abroad to one in Nigeria, a manual worker abroad to one in Nigeria.

The funniest and most expensive joke I have heard from Nigerians doing menial jobs in the US. and earning between $1,500- $2,000, is claiming that they are richer than bank managers in Nigeria. I guess they make their money in America while spending it in Nigeria. This stupid joke need to stop. A Nigerian doing menial job in the US. at best can be compare to someone receiving 80,000 Monthly in Nigeria in purchasing power. A Nigerian doing odd jobs for 10 yrs will still be paying rent while a 10 yrs bank manager would have long built two to three houses with a lucrative investment. Nigerians in America need to stop converting currencies because it is clearly stated that if you earn $12,000 annually in America you are living in poverty

There is more to life than naira, kobo, dollars and cents.

Once you figure it out, you will understand why the U.S. Embassy is one of the busiest embassies in Nigeria.

Anyone living in US who comes in here to debate this issue with you is a slowpoke.

For the fact that you are comparing the life of a bank manager in Nigeria and a menial worker in USA says it all. You just gave a backhanded compliment to bank managers in Nigeria.

they only tell us what they earn , they dont tell us how it is spent on bills , imagine paying for a fortune for one bedroom apartment for a month . same amount can rent a 3bedroom apartment for a year in Nigeria .

The system keeps everyone in an endless pursuit of elusive dream. In America you really dont own anything. Even after paying off your mortgage and you stop paying property tax, you house can still be taken away from you.
Cant the person keep his or eyes simple? Is it a must to buy every new thing?

I know you are trying to make some good points about living in America which I agree but calm down with the exaggeration. It is rare to find an 80k salary earner in Nigeria afford to rent a comfortable two bedroom flat. I am talking of the Nigeria where real major business and social activities take place (in the context you are giving) like Abuja, Lagos, Port-harcourt e.t.c not Osun, Yola, Maiduguri e.t.c

You are very very very wrong
