Finally got to watch Homecoming. It was an okay movie, these are the few gripes I have about it:

You'd think that high school would present a ton of opportunities to challenge Peter's responsibilities, but they don't- tests and homework aren't a problem, the 'bullying' is nothing really (this version of Flash is really bad), and Liz forgives him at every turn. Along with Aunt May barely being a presence beyond "stay out of my room mom!" esque material, the arc Peter has is just, that he goes from being a screw up to not being a screw up. It just doesn't have the heart or learning experience of previous movies.
Aside from all that, the action isn't great, the music isn't great (Giacchino's other score on War for the Planet of the Apes is 1000x better), too many jokes evey 15 seconds, too much Iron Man (even though Stark himself isn't in the movie much, his presence permeates throughout the film, through Happy, through the high tech suit, the A.I., and the constant 'internship' front), and even Peter was so full of wide-eyed wonder that it started to border on annoying. I get that that's who he is, but damn. Finally, on a personal gripe, they give him the best friend 'support guy' in his ear, that I've absolutley come to LOATHE in current superhero shows like The Flash, Supergirl, and Arrow.
Spiderman Homecoming is not a bad movie, by any means, but I definitely expected better with him being in the MCU now. Maybe I really am growing out of this phase, but this just wasn't for me. The only thing I liked about it was Michael Keaton.

I still prefer the Raimi movies. Hopefully the sequel will be much better. This one doesn't beg to be rewatched biko.

Marvel is killing it! Thor Ragnarok is currently on 98% on RT. That's the highest for any comic book movie. Here's the Critic Consensus: "Exciting, funny, and above all fun, Thor: Ragnarok is a colorful cosmic adventure that sets a new standard for its franchise -- and the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe"

They're along it the best Thor movie, the funniest Marvel movie.... I didn't think I could get any more excited. I think we'll all look back at this period as fans and realize how incredibly lucky we were.

My only question is does anyone know the release date in Nigeria? I tried searching Silverbird's site but couldn't find anything
Looks like I'll defintely do a midnight screening...

Thor ragnarok review
Fun and entertaining, Thor at his funniest. But, there are times where things are going really fast, especially during the first act. Certainly, the best Thor film.
Re: Marvel Cinematic Universe by Kingrapha(m): 10:26am On Nov 02, 2017
Thor ragnarok is a joke delivery system..... if you are hoping for an epic, serious ragnarok story you'll be disappointed....
The villain was weak, but come on it's an academy award winning actress we are talking about here so her representation was on point...
its not the death personified we know from the comics, no real depth to the hela character.....

is the movie enjoyable?
yell yeah.... The joke delivery system works so well that it doesn't feel forced it's just entertaining and you're just going for the ride, Thor is a unique case, you kind try this tonal change and it will work for Thor, it may not work for Cap.
There's a joke like in every 2 secs but funny enough it makes it cool cause it's properly done and the director's approach fits Hemsworth.....

it was a good flick..... masterpiece? nah!!!! what was joss whedon smoking when he said that?

would i have preferred a more serious take on the ragnarok story?.. yes, but I like waititi's version too, it just seems enjoyable unlike gotg2 which I hated but let's not talk about that now.....

Pros
Enjoyable.
kind of cool visuals the cgi sometimes felt off.
cool fight scenes.
New characters, there's a cool rocklike henchman for Hela... that character was cool forgot his name I'll google it now...
I actually like the plot
LOKI

Cons
Underwhelming villain
Waste of planet hulk arc...
waste of the ragnarok title
didn't like the ending....

7.5/10 worth the watch and the best marvel entry this year....

Infinity war and black panther better bring the serious tone we are expecting....

Punisher is a violent slow paced action drama and I liked it*. But don't go in expecting action every 2 seconds. Plus, it has Shohreh Aghdashloo in it, which puts it in the awesome section by default. Love her voice (and yes she's also a good actress). Oh and for the first time in MCU Netflix history, Claire did not make an appearance.

*Yes, y'all know I really enjoy my slow paced shows (except London Spy).

Punisher definitely the best Marvel series this year. And the only one that actually met expectations.
