She wrote in the US. Yes, OGP sponsored her.

Great! Was Ogp involved in US visa processing and flight? Or what was the level of Ogp's involvement.
Re: Nigerian Nurses And Midwives With The Dream Of Working Abroad Let's Meet Here. by ogwashiukwu: 5:51pm On Nov 22, 2017
She already had the b1/b2 visa two years ago before signing with OGP. For the flight, she told OGP the state in the US where her family members were based and OGP googled and found the nearest test center and booked her flight to suit her request.

Try to go through this thread, a lot of vital info about CES by CGFNS. Also your ability to practice after CES , Nclex pass etc. May depend on your immigration status. What type of visa you're holding, will you need adjustment of status ( if not on immigrant visa), will you need to come home for consular processing. Those are the things to consider as you start the process.

Hello, great minds!

These questions are for all that have successfully gone past cgfns credentialing stage.

1.) The combined results I'm currently using are not from the secondary school I attended. Reason being that, I had a deficiency in a subject in my secondary school NECO exams. I took two other WAEC external exams which gave me the grades that I needed in all my relevant subjects. Since I can't combine both NECO and WAEC, hence, the need to abandon my secondary school NECO result. I am now at the cgfns stage, the question is, what do I fill for my secondary school records? I don't feel comfortable filling my secondary school since I have no result to submit from there except my testimonial. And if I have to use the two later results, how do I fill the school since one of the exams was WAEC externals. I only had a centre where I wrote the exams. Please what do I do next? An urgent and sincere response will be highly appreciated.

2.) For all that experienced one delay or the other at the cgfns credentialing stage (sorry about that). Kindly tell us what we need to do or not to do (the 'dos' and the 'don'ts') at this stage in order to avoid your mistakes and errors that led to the delay. Note, the errors/mistakes may not even be your own making, may be from the SON/NMCN. Kindly tell us what we need to do right in order not to be a victim of avoidable errors and delays.

Thank you

MPVGoddess:

Cool. So my timing was on the mark!

Like you, I got an email from cgfns.

BUT

Still struggling with CGFNS verification.

They queried the documentation sent by the council.

The problems have to do with the nursing council back home having a policy of attaching their transcript to CGFNS documentation instead of filling the documentation the CGFNS sends.

I just hope you don't end up facing the same trouble.

Once that is cleared will be able to take the NCLEX exam

@MPVGoddess, @Barbie, @others, kindly help me with a reliable contact at the nursing council to avoid the above stated ancient practice of the Nursing council attaching transcripts to the verification form sent to them and they. end up wasting people's precious time.

A timely response will be highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Where are the resourceful people on this forum na? All the people the have crossed one bridge or the other should do everything possible within their might to keep the bridges intact after they might have crossed.

I am not un-mindful of the fact that many of us are busy and have tight schedules but I'll suggest we all make it a responsibility to visit this forum at least once a day in spite of our tight schedules to see how we can be of help to any member in dare and urgent needs here, hence the essence of the forum, I believe. We should all remember that we don't have our phone nos and this is the only medium by which we can interact and some requests may be very urgent like mine now. I believe being regular here is the only way to keep this forum alive.

My opinion pls.

@ Barbie and others, where art thou?

1. Fill in and Use the result of the school you finished from. Send the result complimenting your grade along, both will be received and kept in your record.

2. Use dhl/FedEx to send your documents. Get the 2 numbers to call Cgfns when necessary. Your civil documents are very important, no alterations.
Others can contribute from their experience.

Honestly im an emotional reck these days after hearing the news of my denial. I can't say im in the best mind frame to make a sound decision. PLEASE SOMEONE TALK TO ME!

AVANT apologized profusely. They said it was due to 'lack of leadership at the uscis'. My understanding from their mail was that there may have been some changes in immigration rule. They are to get some documentation sorted (i think Dept of labour doc or so) with uscis after which they would reapply for me. I also got to understand most of their application were denied, but i don't know if its avant only that is affected. They have not reverted to say when they are applying for me or specific timelines they are working with (very unlike AVANT).

I'm just so drained emotionally now. I'm seriously thinking of cbt. Its far less stressful

Just an advise to any nurse having emigration dreams..until you get ur visa/travel documents PLS DON'T QUIT YOUR JOB OR STUDIES, cos if the whole thing goes south you would have deep regrets.

This isn't a good news I must confess but all the same, you should look beyond the defeat and fire on.

Remember, an heavy weight Boxing champion emerged as a winner not because he did not receive any punch from his opponent in the boxing ring but because he refused to succumb and give up the fight after receiving those punches in the boxing ring. Persistence they said is the rule of the game. So, take this defeat as one of those punches.

I felt the same way you are feeling now when Canada denied me after a very long wait.

Never give up and set your eye on the goal at the finishing line. You will surely succeed!

It is well.

Once again, it's well with you. You are a winner come what may!

Thanks for the advice for other intending immigrant nurses in the house.

If u wouldn't mind, I want to ask if your I-140 was filled with a BSn or Nursing diploma? Just trying to figure out what the problem could probably be at the I-140 stage and to see how we (others) can avoid this disappointment if it is something we can avoid. Or is the problem peculiar to avant because I'm still as much bewildered as you are.

Even if you are going to try out the UK route, never still quit the US process since u are already licensed. At worst, you get another agent to file for u. It's never a closed case at all. Pls don't give up too easily on this. I can have a feel of what you are passing through right now, all the same, don't give up to the disappointment. My personal opinion! Let others give their own contributions pls.

Thank you.

I applied with a nursing diploma (doubly qualified) with about 6 years continuous clinical experience. I don't think the i-140 has got anything to do with whether an application is filed with a nigerian nursing degree or diploma. The important thing is that i have an active US RN license with supposedly a job offer and evidence that employer can pay.

I am wont to know if this recent development is peculiar to AVANTS or other agencies are affected. Any info with respect to this would be appreciated.

Thanks for your kind words.

There may be information Avant won't like to share with you, if it has to do with their operations. Like someone said, the worst is that you sign up with another employer, don't give up. It is not your fault, it is USCIS. If it were your fault, Avant would've come up with it in their email to you.
Also, I think there are different USCIS offices across the US (talking of leadership, according to Avant) , they may later file for you in another nearby USCIS office where they have jurisdiction.

I am an Avant RN. I can relate to your concerns and know many people that are facing the same challenges that you are going through now.
This is not specific to Nigerians or Avant. There are still a few persons whose petitions were approved. I guess USCIS do what they like.
Like others have told you, do not give up. Keep your dreams alive. I also want to add that you have to be very patient (I know how hard it is). Trust the process and trust Avant. They have your interest at heart and would not want to lose their investments. From what I have heard, they will resume filing from January.
The process may take a little longer but it will surely come through. It took 9 years from when I passed CGFNS to get here.
My favorite quote to all facing this situation is "in this process, patience is a virtue". Relax, my friend . Your time will come.

Credential Evaluation Service is a service by CGFNS for the purpose of evaluating your transcripts and license to ensure that it meets the requirements of the board of nursing to which you are applying. If you intend to register with the Colorado Board of Nursing, I suggest you go through their website to know what their requirements are.
