I dont know what my offense is on Nairaland. All my post have been hidden, i also had a tough time posting the pics of my MPPT. I believe according oga George, this thread hates solar energy.
As a result, i created a second account to enable me post my pics. abunafiu remains my number 1 username.

You can see my two generating sets resting in peace and my improvised MPPT hanger with improvised switch using "cutting wire technology"
My harvest for sunday......
Will post more soon.

same as abunafiu.

throw back Thursday on a Friday..LOL

remembering my morningstar days. when I was still on 24v system. I had 1200watts mono panels then.
it was fun sha.

fast forward to today, thank God almighty.
appreciate the frontiers for allowing us learn from them.
I dedicate this post to Chief George_D1

@dapsyra

If you can extract the api´s from the midnight classic website, then it is a piece of cake cause thats exactly how i upload to pvoutput.org. I pick the api´s from emoncms and upload to pvoutput.org

You´ll need a raspberry pi, install php on it, internet connection, schedule it on crontab and voila, you are up an running with your live data.

How does the pi connect to the internet. My plan is to have it rigged up to a data modem with internet connection. About 500mb of data should last 2 months for uploading real time to the net. It might even allow for sending remote commands from the internet if the cc supports it. With internet of things being the new IT craze. More and more devices would come with internet cloud connectivity built in.

I can actually capture the data directly from the Midnite Classic CC via Modbus using Raspberry Pi without recourse to the Midnite website. I have not just gotten around to doing it.

OK.

If you want to use the raw data, you may need a python program to automatically upload directly to pvoutput. But the easiest way is to pick from the midnight website if those values are available in api format.

Well, for the Raspberry Pi 3, it comes with inbuilt wireless and bluetooth connection. So just add it to your wifi at home and thats all.

Data usage is actually very small because it is in text/csv format say like couple of kb.

I will advice against opening your device too much to the internet less your CC becomes part of a botnet. Hackers are using all freely/non-secured IOTs to DDOS all around the world. grin

LOL No be only you brah!

At the end of the day, I want a solution that automatically uploads my LIVE production figures to pvoutput from my classics.
I have the PI 3, but it's gathering dust somewhere... I've loaded and wiped all sorts of images on it.

If the ICC Pranil mentioned can upload data from classics, then it's time to dust up the PI and put it to work again.

my problem with the home wireless solution is one more power hungry device. With a small usb data dongle connected to the Rpi you can have it do it's thing irrespective of an external wireless device. My home don't currently have a central wireless system because am yet to see the need in the age of mobile phone tethering, almost everyone has a data connected phone in the house. With regards to hacking.. changes are quite small. most consumer grade internet service provider don't give live IP to their customers. in fact you are access the web via their own giant NAT hence whatever ip you are given can't be routable anywhere but within their network and many of them (particularly MTN) have round robin IP address allocation system where by your IP address is always changing... Lastly every connected system should have a firewall.. block all then allow, configure fail2ban and enable automatic security update and you should be fine. most IOT devices are hopeless insecured even (and especially) wireless routers many of them carry out dated fimwares which have known exploits yet have not been patched. A Rpi in the hands of a capable person is a much more safer option IMHO

I would go with the Morningstar too. Apart from the already stated reasons, in the event that you want to expand your array, the second CC will make that possible without the need for a second CC as would be the case if Midnite were used. Since the Midnite is already maxed out, you will need to get another controller for future expansion.

Cheers

Mr Ogumo (the OP) is the proprietor of solardepotng.com and while based in Ibadan are easily able to deliver to any location of your choice in Nigeria. Based on prior reviews on this thread he is known as a reputable supplier but with prices on the steep side so you should definitely squeeze as much as possible in your negotiations. grin

Looking at the price he offers for the Magnum PT 100 vs US stores, it's actually already a good deal but if you prefer to wait two weeks then you can ship in directly from Amazon.com

https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01HZLTR0K/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1512198226&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=magnum+pt-100

If you go the direct import route you would wait on average two weeks to have the controller in your hands vs. one or two days with solardepotng.

I ship from the US every other week so if required I can assist with courier details e.t.c

Please also consider the availability of local knowledge and support going with the Magnum PT 100 vs. other comtrollers. Though a very excellent choice, I know of only one installer here (Richmond) who has installed the Magnum PT 100 and provided his reviews on it - most people here are Midnite Solar and MorningStar folks so the practical advise or support they can give will tend to be more in their area of experience.

Please house who knows where I can get a luminous inverter technician or repairer. The luminous inverter is already in Lagos. The issue with the inverter is that it reads voltage at the input and it doesn't change over automatically.

PLEASE I NEED SOMEONE THAT HANDLES REPAIRS

A trial will surely convince you. In terms of reliablity and durability, I can only talk for my products. We are doing our best. I can assure you that the only difference between our products and the popular foreign brands is the packaging.
I also know other Nigerian producers that are doing very well.
We have all the functions of a standard and quality inverter installed in our inverters. We are improving and using our resources to learn more technologies.

We were formerly using analog design.....later we started buying digital boards from foreigners ....Now we manufacture the boards and write the codes that runs them. We are improving...... We need you ........ You can trust us!
