Meanwhile this is the most standard road in the Southeast built by my man Okorocha and currently at 90% completion. That's one of the 10 lane highways he has cut across all of Owerri and as seen on this photo it can contain parallel of 5 cars on each side with underground drainage and solid pedestrian walkways. The streetlights are unique, beautiful and extremely bright like never seen in any part of Nigeria. Forget the targeted character assassination of my man and drive down to Owerri to behold what is called road infrastructure. By the time the intracity expressways are marked with road signs and lane reflectors the naysayers will be put to shame permanently.

Nice job on the underground sewage. In 2017 we shouldn't be building with open gutters! Nice streetlights too; It's my first time seeing those type of street lights.

The most transformed city in Nigeria within the last one year is Owerri. Owerri is changing so fast that an absence of 3 months brings you face to face to unbelievable development. While the media has been invested upon by opposition to tarnish Okorocha's image they unfortunately cannot change the truth as posterity will always carry the day.

Why is he banning Keke because he bought 200 rickety used passat cars for taxis?
The question id
1. Did everyone who rides Keke get a taxi? -NO
2. Will 200 or even 1,000 taxis meet the entire transportation need of Owerri city? NO!
3. Will Rochas create alternative jobs for them if they lose their Keke? NO
4. Will Keke riders force Owerri residents to use Keke if passat taxi were cheaper and more comfortable? NO!
4. Can Keke be useful in some untarred side streets where passat cars could never go due to bad road condition? YES.

So why is he banning Keke?
Afterall Keke is used in major cities of countries much more advanced than Nigeria.

Keke is even loved by tourists because unlike the local taxi which isn't airconditioned in a hot country like Nigeria, you can rent a Keke and see the entire town without sweating as you would inside an over heated typical car on Nigerian roads.

That's why I advice people to always get full information before using lies or half truth to judge. Keke were only banned on designated routes and not everywhere in Owerri. The satelite towns and inner streets are not inclusive. Private taxi operators are back after some years which will help give comfortable ride. The photo below was Owerri in 2009 before the advent of Keke and you can see there were blue and white taxis. Keke was introduced by Ohakim as palliative for Okada riders he banned and just like Cars cant access some Keke routes so is it for Keke with Okada routes. India is a suffer head country and should not be emulated by us.

love the way you promote owerri -good job. Even though I don't agree with some of your views, I must say that's only a blind man who would claim owerri hasn't changed massively(for good) this last 6 years.

Rochas does not have the right to ban Keke.

If Rochas wants to develop Owerri transport masterplan he should emulate other Governors in Lagos, Rivers and even Abuja building a light rail network for the city.

He won't even do decent flyovers talk more of light rail, yet he wants to worsen the people's misery by banning their means of decent livelihood.

For a dirty Nigerian calling India a suffer head country speaks volumes of how Nigerians are in denial about how much it had declined. Today, even President Buhari and Nigerian politicians go to India for healthcare. They wanted to buy made in India propeller planes from Indian air force. India has more than 23 cities bigger than Lagos, as for owerri, India has more than 400 cities bigger than Owerri. Yet, you compare your sorry Nigeria.

Rochas is simply an evil cancer that Imo people will deal with at the appropriate time.

See the latest economic comparison of Nigeria versus India.

When people say India is poor, it is in relative comparison to China, Japan, South Korea and other Asian countries in its neighborhood.

Nigeria has never been regarded as a wealthy country nor does anybody in this world think Nigeria is a better country to live in than India.

Go there and see the truth for yourself.

India is a very dirty and ugly country full of ritualists. If Nigeria wants to emulate any of those Asians it should Japan, China and Singapore but I prefer USA, Canada,UK or the West.

I can see that you always intoxicated before you type gibberish and rubbish here.
Useless Rochas banned keke even inside the suburbs of Owerri Town, Where are the Buses you earlier advertised here? Your Blackbuses
It is a pity you are mentally unstable cos the same India you are quoting is where your good for nothing Rochas emulated his nonsensical Ministry of Happiness from. Google is your Friend.

Next time you want to talk, get your facts from people on Ground.

There is no Rochas Bus running anywhere in Owerri town, yet he is impoverishing the unemployed youths in Owerri.

Rochas promised to build industries when he was busy cruising round the whole world under the guise of economic tour, after how many years from his so called sojourn, no Industry has been seen in Imo state, except hotels and beer parlour.

Owerri, will witness Unprecedented no of Robberies, Kidnapping in recent days to come. I beleive that will make you and your Master Happy.

Then , he will Kpuola you, as one of his statues.

As a spokesman of kidnappers and armed robbers if you like go and start robbery for you will die in the hands of our gallant security forces. Okorocha has given them grace 4 times since 2015 with the last one being this October hence there is no reason to claim unpreparedness. Nigerians like last minute rush and enforcement. It has been in the news for months now that New market is going to be demolished on 15th December but I can assure you that some traders there will remain thinking that they can fight Government.

Abagworo your a person with a misplaced destiny how can Rochas ban keke operators know fully well that the cars he made available can't be used to convey 10% of the owerri population some of those cars has already gotten spoilt and some comatose look at what happened tonight when people were seen trekking to their homes because of adequate lack of a transport system to convey them back home

By as early as February 2018 the vacuum provided by Keke ban will be filled up with private taxi not Government. If you have free car, it is time to make money from the transport boom about to happen. Okorocha is too advanced in thinking and perfected a new economy by relocating markets to satelite towns and expanding roads. Use your brain and try to reason it.

Please tell Rochas in his urban renewal projects, to include or make provision for tree planting, side pedestrian and closed sewage...all his reconstruction without these, won't make much difference, hence it will still look like a typical backwards 3rd world city. And again, it won't be a bad idea to start having underground electric lines.....tnx for your effort on this thread , even though I don't totally agree with some of your submissions.

Simply pay a visit to Owerri and don't depend on me or any of these online rantings. Owerri is the only city receiving international standard infrastructure today in Southeast. Just relax as more photos will emerge but pay less attention to those that have formed the habit of looking for ongoing works and posting same to discredit Okorocha's good works.

Reduced a whole state of 27 lgas to just one lga.

The other 26 lgas decay.

In Social Media show the transformation of the one lga by govt.

People from that one lga clap for the government.

A most badly-educated, insensitive and apolitical leader and his crop of equally-badly-educated publicists...

You can only succeed in rigging elections where you have some element of acceptance.

Ndi Igbo are busy shouting restructuring while south east governors are wasting time. South East governors should gear their efforts towards industrialization.

Our IGR is poorest in the south yet we are shouting restructuring up and down. The north is getting ready for it by establishing industries.

South West and some parts of South South have massive industries, which explains why their IGR is biggest in the south. The east seems to be the only region taking first position from behind.

And Okorocha is busy moulding statues and kicking against restructuring.

The biggest calamity of South east is brain drain!

If Nigeria is restructured today, it's going to take the east a long time to stabilize because our states depend largely on federal allocation.

For Owerri to thrive economically and bring in tourists,
Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport (SMICA) must receive international flights.

No tourist will enter Nigeria and choose to fly in our local planes to anywhere in Nigeria.

Kano and Kaduna international airports now share combined international flights with Ethiopian airline.
Enugu and Owerri international airport should jointly combine international flights in the same fashion.

That is the only way Owerri will truly boom and become an international city.

When Owerri starts international flights it will move to be one of the busiest in Nigeria. Presently Owerri occupies 4th in busiest Airports just behind Port Harcourt, Abuja and Lagos. However the Cargo Airport built by Okorocha is for perishables with very large refrigerated warehouses. When fully completed it will be the 1st real one in Nigeria.
