I got a lawyer but the case was called before my lawyer arrived and i told the court registrar but he said thats non of his business. He insisted that i must be jailed because i'm not settling him. Can you imagine?

Your story is not complete. For a court to jail/fine you, it has to first find you guilty of something. What crime were you charged with, tried and found guilty of?

Anyway, were you convicted and jailed for fraud based on the original case or you
were remanded in custody for contempt of court?

The answer will determine whether you have to pay or be re-arraigned in court.

Don't know...but would think that's the end of the case since that's how they usually end.....guilty/not guilty...if guilty fine/imprisonment or both. But how much more did you need to pay back if the fine was 10K? Why would you choose to go to prison instead of paying the fine?...is prison conditions now luxurious? Hope you learn not to spend money that don't belong to you.

What the prosecutor said was that i refused to accept the charges levelled against me. I outrightly argued with him even in front of the judge that i didnt deny the charges. Even the complainant attested to it that i deny that i have shortage or the amount of the shortage i have.

Money cannot just disappear like that like when Betnaija has a detailed record system, you used your boss money to play game and lost or you used it to solve a pressing personal issue; Stop all these half truths.

I have a friend who owns a betting shop and his staff did exactly what you did and he arrested the offending staff.
What you did is setting your employer's business back.
Its a case of defrauding your employer and you got jailed for it. Case closed.
He can go still back to court to ask for his money to be recovered, you are not fully out of the debacle sad

Am not a lawyer but I think u have served ur verdict/term, 6months in prison or option of 10k fine.

But the court fuckedup sha, how will they give u option to settle out of court and on d day of settling they slam you with a sentence. Lawyers in d house is this normal?

Anyway, your case closed! U have done what d court asked. U don't owe nobody shìt. Goan look for a new job.

Cheers.

I'm on the process of looking for a job. Thanks bro

I'm a lawyer and I will go straight to the point, though this monicker Lomprico2 has answered your question. The position of the judge in his judgement was that you should either go to 6 months jail or pay the sum of #10,000 for misappropriation of your boss funds, that simply means you're charged for stealing. And you've performed one of the options produced by the court. You have nothing to pay back to anyone. "But the person can still pursue the civil aspect of the case through court action and get part if not all the money from you"

Sometimes I wonder if u reason with ur anus. The guy said he had an unaccounted shortage. Its obvious u ve not worked in an acct section before if not u should ve known that shortages are meant to occur. Call your lawyer, he is in a better position to know. You dnt have to allow ur short payment to get to dat extent, go throughh your work at d end of d day, it elps alot

God will see through and u won't pay a dime..... I've encountered such, even worst before but God set me free. The judge was confused, he couldn't remember anything again despite the prosecutor lawyer doin his best but all to no avail. That same God will deliver u and u won't pay a dime. Leave everything to God and see how HE (God) confuses and convinces man

What 'god' is this that confuses and convinces man....?

There was a pronounced judgement (evidentially based), you were found guilty and you've served your term.
In the eyes of the law, the matter is settled and out of record.
The sad part for the prosecutor is the forfeiture of the claim(plus, it wasn't mentioned in the ruling that you should pay the money back).
The sad part for you is that you're an ex-convict.

All of you guys saying he should not pay are mad. Would you be happy if someone misappopriated 132k out of probably less than 500k business? That is the problem with our judiciary system, they should have simply told him to refund the money by serving him or through other means instead of one useless jail of 10k option.

Op, dont put yourself in a serious trouble you wont be able to get out of. An employer that get time to take you to court because of 132k can do anything to retrieve his money if you refuse to comply with his term or pay him off.

The judgement of the court is Jail time or 10,000 naira fine.

Since you have paid the fine, you are a free man before the law.

Note that I said "before the law"

No body can do any lawful thing about the money again unless the guy goes to court a second time and file a civil suit against you to claim damages.

But the guy can still use illegal means to try and collect money from you, so do well to keep your distance from the guy.
If he truly believe that you stole his money and you got a light punishment, he might come to try and punish you through other means.

he can't sentenced again for that same crime even by a higher court for a crime he has already served time for. all over the world is the same,
