Palm nuts is actually one of there favourite foods, African Grays are known to raid palm plantations, another good food for them is Sunflower seeds.. I use to have one back in the day but it flew away thanks to my careless brother..It was 25k back then.

Sorry for the late reply, I use them get them from one hausa guy in Enugu, this was about 7 years ago though when i was in school.. Am sure you can find it in pet stores or jumia but it will probably be expensive.. My friend was giving his back then a mixture of dry tigernuts, cashew, peanuts, ukwa ( breadfruit seed) and the bird was doing ok..

Go to iddo market in Lagos, you'll get all kinds of birds there.

There's nothing like Senegal grey parrot. It's just Senegalese parrot.
Green in colour and screams like a mad hatter.
Some are trained to mimic speech, but not as the African grey.

Thanks for the correction. The grey pple attach is due to d color of it's head not really the green color.

I really don't know why its expensive in the south here! My dad bought two from the north for 30k(although they were less than two months old). They are so trained now that they can sing some hit songs like 'lompopo' ,'shoki', 'sekem, etc

Let's set the facts straight here, parrots are lovely birds and a good pets to have but u must know how to handle them cos they can injure, it's best you get them when young if u really wanna handle them and you must have time for your bird, now there are over 300 species of parrots and not all can talk. The one with the best ability to talk is the African grey parrot also know as the Timothy parrot. Because a parrot has the ability to talk doesn't mean it would, it needs training and needs to be kept where it would hear people talk all the time so preferably it's best it's kept indoors, feeding shouldn't be a problem cos there food are not expensive they fruits and nuts. For those who want to get parrots in lagos I have a contact who can get you the parrot of your choice
