The laws in this country r 4 d poor & downtrodden. If he had been let out all d 6months he was remanded wouldn't he have paid back d 40k he owed? But he was kept back in prison for a whole 6months meanwhile those who stole 4 even their 5th generation r left to patrol d streets & even have d guts to vie for political positions. Dis country & the d arms of government r in a pity state. Who will deliver us?

I have been saying this a long time, their is this madness going on in Nigeria courth. Where they bill a poor man to provide a shortee just because of 40k or 50k and the shortee will have Tax credidentials and the amount for bail is not even small with rigorous process... U will end up in prison and when u enter prison the money is almost tripled.. Many are still in detention because of this madness

Guy pray youre not in a frustrated Condition.

There is a proverb in my area that says a person will still boast to be a hero only when he has not met a superior and defeating war, when is confronted with a superior war he would realise he is just ordinary....

Hunmm why would someone be remanded for Just 40k....

how much bail would they grant him if he should apply for bail.
small time, they will say our prison is over congested.
The amount here is too meagre to detain him for, mind you he did not steal it, He owed, even Nigeria owes IMF

why won't he jump, he has been remanded in prison for six months over 40k, and they still want to judge the guy again..
I just keep thinking what kinda law we have in Nigeria, where you steal billions and walk free, then you steal a phone you get sentenced to death by hanging..
only God can judge our judge...

He must have been frustrated...remanded for 6 months cos of 40k? This is inhuman....when some people are roaming the country stealing billions of naira and nobody to even question them because they feel they are above the law? This is bad. This country jst dey spoil dey go everyday...I really feel his plight...may God rest his soul

Hmm, I am really yet to understand our judicial system. Even generally worldwide, the legal system tend to be more lenient on the rich while harsh on the poor.

That's because the rich and upper class created it. One wouldn't create something that wouldn't work in his favour, would he?

No, no one is useless, they're wicked and heartless instead..

This is very touching. Heard stories, some years back it was discovered a man had been awaiting trials for 15 years, for what reason? Coz he stole a plate of food. This happened in Edo state. In Akwa Ibom state a few years ago a 16 year old girl who had just written her SSCE was alleged to have bought a stolen phone for 4k, she bought the phone and was using it for phone call biz so as to raise money for her higher education. Guess what, she was locked up for about 2years + or so. All of these because they're poor and have no connections.

There're countless others who are either in prison awaiting trials or in remand for very minor offences, they've been there for years with no hope in sight. I agree with the Op, the law should have a human face.

The law should surely have a human face, especially for the poor and downtrodden.

It already does for the Sarakis and Athiefkus of Nigeria.
My friend, pls do urself a favour and get ur facts right b4 spilling rotten beans here. Wat exactly was the judgment of the court, dat u feel the law didn't have a human face? Wen dat subsidy thiefess grin was sentenced to over 7 years imprisonment, didn't d law have a human face then? Wat exactly happened. Is dis wat u were taught in sch? To make conclusions without facts?
