Oh don't worry, I know Karma is real. It may take a long time coming, but it finally claims its targets like you. I am on the sidelines watching. And I known that just as dawn follows the night, evil will surely claim you and halt you in your tracks, soon.

Better get off the sidelines before a karmic bus tears you to shreds. Nothing dey happen my broda.

Those people who enslaved our ancestors hundreds of years ago were better christians than you could ever hope to be. What has happened to their countries and their children? Are you better than them?

Karma -- or whatever mojo you believe in -- will work if we are the initial original transgressors ... I even think I am an agent of karma. Haha.

You dey mind am? In this same country, are people like the young Nigerian who created Paga platform, through his ingenuity and hardwork. The guy is making legit money in millions on a weekly basis. Take the likes of the guys who set up Interswitch, Andela, Etranzact etc, who are using their brains to make legit money and create jobs for others. But the scammers are too backward, lazy, weak and reta'rded to create anything of value. That is why they have settled for defrauding unsuspecting innocent people....

The backwardness of your thinking made me swallow a huge bolus of eba unknowingly. Nearly damn killed myself.

So is it without education or capital that such ventures came out from?

The founders of these three people you mentioned schooled and lived abroad for many many years.

They brought back home their capital and invested. How can you as a young Nigerian access 100K dollars to setup a business with a long reach?

If you do not see "work" as a means of capital accumulation, then I'm afraid, you're nothing but a slimy salamander, a bumbling bonobo.

Oh no, you mean you did not choke? How sad. sad Obviously, you believe that the easiest way to accumulate capital is to scam others.

There are several others who did NOT school abroad, who had no capital but still used their talents and intellect to create value-adding enterprises and rose to the top.

I do not know the foreign university that the owner of Computer Warehouse attended before he set up his ICT firm. It was after he had made it big, that he got offers to even lecture in schools abroad, and embark on a postgraduate study.

Mitchell Elegbe who set up Interswitch did not study abroad, neither did he bring in capital from any foreign country. He attended University of Benin.

Val Obi of Etranzact attended UNN, John Tani Obaro of SystemSpecs one of the top ICT firms in Nigeria, attended Kwara State College of Technology and Ahmadu Bello University. His parents passed away before he graduated, so he had a tough time growing up. He did not turn to scams or crime to make a headway in life. There are so many other examples. undecided

But I won't bore you. It is so obvious that you believe crime and fraud are the bedrock of 'making it' in your so-called life. And it is clear that "you're nothing but a slimy salamander, a bumbling bonobo", who relies on scamming others, instead of using his head to create value-added legitimate businesses that would stand the test of time. Only shallow, mindless people choose such a route, to earn a living. sad

Nope, didn't choke, but I am sure you will not be as lucky when you eat dinner tonight.

Now, back to the question at hand; why, you make very good points but in your haste to counter without thinking, you missed out the substance of my post: it is damn hard to access capital in this country.

For every individual who was able to access capital, there are literarily thousands of others who will not be able to. I'm thousand.

Have you ever sought a loan in Nigeria? Have you ever looked for investors, little runt?

Lol. Better drop this lost-cause of yours and smell the coffee.

Remember you have a date with your dinner tonight so it might be a good idea to start preparing for your journey.

Cut the crap. sad It is not a question of whose ancestors were better Christians than others. That ridiculous hypothesis is what you use to justify your fraudulent deeds.

Do some research. sad The real slave traders were your own African ancestors who sold fellow human beings from their own homeland, to the white merchants.

I am not bothered about the semantics or funny spins you are trying to pull here. All I know is that Karma is real. What you sow, is what you reap. You cannot sow cocoyam and reap plantains. Same way, you cannot sow scams and fraud, without reaping evil somewhere along the line. undecided

Pity. You should have choked. sad That would have meant, one less scammer peddling his trade.

Do all businesses require a loan? Maybe at some point. But I know countless others who did not take a loan, but struggled to master their craft and use their skills to solve pressing problems affecting the greater populace.

The chap who wrote the code for authenticating transactions for NIBSS, was just doing what he knew how to do in a legit way - coding. sad And a legitimate need came up which required his skill, and he was able to sort it out. The rest as they say is history. The problem was solved, he got paid his millions and today he is a big shot in a software firm.

The problem with people like you, is that you have been wired to believe scam and fraud, are ways to make money. undecided

You and your ilk are too lazy or clueless to explore legit, authentic ways of making money, adding value to society and solving problems that arise. It takes a person with a passion for deep thinking, rigorous research and proper application of knowledge, to do all such things. These are skills that scammers lack, so they choose the easy way out by opting for fraud. shocked

By the time evil starts dodging your footsteps, you will smell the coffee. Please do not blame it on the witches in your village or sheer bad luck. undecided

See how myopic you sound and I am sure you are educated. If you don't know let me tell you, I left school in Jss 3 because there was no money to further and parents were even destitute. I am sure you had the advantage of having being provided for up until you become somebody. Not everyone has the chance to access education like you did.

The youth who has a chance to make a better life for himself through "work" is better than the youth riding okada or doing conductor or being a labourer. The "worker" brings foreign exchange, he pays for the education of his siblings, the neighbourhood gets some nice cashflow. Please, tell that youth that "work" is bad.

You view Nigeria like the western world where anyone who has the will to be educated will surely get an education. You have rose-tinted glasses and morals which you project upon everyone regardless of their social reality.

I am not an intellectual. I do not have the intellectual capacity to think sophisticated thoughts and build businesses. Why? Nigeria never gave me a chance.

Everything I am today -- from the clothes I wear, how articulate I am, the lands I have bought, the food I eat, the vacations I have taken, down to the house I live in is a result of my "work".

The problem with all you folks who were the products of a functional and financially well-off background is that you believe your moral compunctions should bind to other individuals.

"Work" has made me who I am today. In a way, I am smarter, I am more intelligent and I have many projects in the pipeline.

Please, come and stand in my face and tell me "work" is wrong and see if I will not wipe your thick skull with a 2x2.

Ode.

You do not know me neither do you know how I acquired an education. sad So do not even presume to make any assumptions where I am concerned. Assumption is the mother of all fvck ups! undecided

You chose the easy way out, because you were too lazy and clueless to explore legit ways of meeting your needs. Every scammer, armed robber, kidnapper etc., always has a sob story to tell. It is their stock in trade. sad Sorry, I don't fall for such exaggerated tales. Don't expect me to sympathise with scammers or fraudulent dolts, because their modus operandi is something I abhor. Anyone that causes misery to innocent hardworking citizens, by scamming them of their livelihood or hard earned legit money, deserves to be tied to a stake and thrown into a dungeon.

Are you the first person with a poor, deprived childhood? shocked If everyone in this city turned to crime to make a living, what kind of society would we have? Even you, would not be able to live within such a Hobbesian culture. On the contrary, I do not wear rose-tinted glasses. I deal with reality on a daily basis.

From the hopeless wretched young girls who think prostitution is the only solution, to the marijuana/cocaine sniffing drug addicts who don't even know what day of the week it is, I have met them all. Quite a large number of them, do not even know their parents. Many of them sleep on the streets wherever the night, finds them.

Most of the time, I see people like you among them - those who glorify crime as the next best thing. I always tell them that the proceeds of crime, carry the seeds of bitterness, and it will never go far, because it always lands the criminal in more trouble.

I am much too aware of the hardship and challenges that pervade the Nigerian society. And I am aware that getting an education is a struggle. But I have seen so many people beat the odds in our society, and still acquire an education with discipline, hardwork and integrity.

I once had a female classmate, whose talent was hair braiding. She was disabled, and came from a poor background. cry But every single day she used her hair braiding skills to earn a living. And guess what? She became a 'banker' to so many of us in her class, lending money to students with a small interest fee attached, because she was never short of funds. She graduated with a 2nd class upper, missing 1st class by 4 points, while the rest of us watched in awe. sad

Sometimes, I see a few who have the guts and courage to turn their lives around, and embark on the journey to self and success, using the tools of integrity and discipline. But sadly, there are still too many who are used to the stench and filth of easy lucre, and are too dim-witted to see beyond their noses. For those ones, I always know that it is a matter of time, before retribution catches up with them. Too many times, they pay for their crimes, through ill-health, losses of friends, family and close ones, or even inexplicable spiritual attacks. sad What can one do? There is a limit to the help you can render to a man or woman, who is hell-bent on self-destruction. undecided

I met a pretty young girl over a year ago, with the voice of an angel and the body of a temptress. She was peddling her fleshy wares in the oldest profession known to man. I tried to talk to her to give up her sordid lifestyle. She refused bluntly. Her story was similar to yours'. No support, no family and no money. undecided

My colleagues and I offered to help her with funds to start afresh. She wasn't interested. Sadly, she was diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, a few months after that. She could have used her unique voice to earn millions through singing, but she chose to waste her life on prostitution. Each time I remember her, I always think...what if?

Those who rise from grass to grace through sheer legitimate hard work, talent, discipline, craftsmanship and integrity, are those I respect and acknowledge their work. Earning a living through scamming and fraudulent means is NOT and can NEVER be considered as "work." It is nothing, but sheer crime. Let us call a spade, a spade. sad

There was a pregnant, unmarried lady who worked as a bricklayer/labourer on my client's site, once. I was shocked to learn that she has an OND. shocked From that point on, every one went out of their way to help her. At the end of the day, the civil engineering firm that handled the site, gave her a permanent job with their company, and trained her as a project manager. She has been sent abroad for training in 3 different foreign countries. If she had turned to prostitution, or decided to lock herself up in a room to scam others, I doubt if she would have gotten her lucky break. undecided

Nigeria does not give anybody, any chances. Each person has to seek out his own purpose and assignment in life, and look for opportunities to fulfil that purpose. You do not need to be an intellectual to set up a business, or earn a living in an honest diligent way. God blessed every human being with a talent. It is sad, that people like you have chosen to deploy their talents for evil. undecided

Karma has its own way of taking care of those who sow the seeds of pain and evil. That scam you are merrily painting as "work," will one day land you in the deepest dung creek, without a paddle. And that is just a polite way of putting it.

You are particularly skilled at speaking from both sides of your putrid mouth. As this discourse drags on, your penchant for ignoring given facts and backstory surprise me less and less.

Pray, tell, how did you begin working in construction? Without an education right?

When I gave you a glimpse of my backstory, my objectives were to make you see that we have different backgrounds and you could not in all honesty project your moral leanings unto me or any other individual. That purpose seems largely lost on you.
But I will try -- god knows I will try to talk sense into your slime filled dura.

I have sufficiently acquainted you with “work” so henceforth I will drop the quotes.

You see, the mistake you make is thinking work is the easy way out. It is fraught with its own dangers and challenges.
I daresay society is better on account of the type of work I do. I sell happiness, I sell hope, I sell big dreams. Just remember it is not up to me to deliver the fruition because everything I sell is just dreams.

The young girls who sell their bodies I do not blame. In fact, I see sex work as a viable career choice. This stance is not “Hobbesian” nor backward. The most progressive and advanced countries of the world have even legalised sex work, so what is your point exactly? That the girls are less human for choosing the work they do?

Sample size, you bonobo, sample size!

For every one sex worker who contracts HIV, there are thousands of normal people with whom do as well, and since you’re feeling so in your elements I presume you will be going around to tell those people that their diseases are as a result of their choices.
It is my experience that those who wear the thickest rose-coloured glasses are those who are mostly oblivious to it. You say you have seen everything on the street, albeit from a distance. Lol, I live and breathe the street.

Have you lived on the street bonobo? Have you seen the effects of Nigeria on the street youths. Selling us hope will not work because our existences have been sans hope for as long as we can remember.

Not everyone has the strength of character to come out of the myriad of problems Nigeria bring to those whose parents do not have money. For every one success story, there are millions of not so great stories.

If the system isn’t designed to cater for the youths -- sure, there will be some success stories -- alternative ideas will take hold.

Karma has nothing on me, bonobo. Let the Karma come. Let it come in all its fury. I do not subscribe to the notions of retribution or sky-daddy so you have to use something else to try and scare me.

I will be so happy to wipe a 2x2 log on your skull I swear. Since you have chosen not to think, it behooves me to reset your slime filled brain.

Eeyah! shocked Why are you so pained? Does the truth hurt? Is that why you think that hitting a log on some one's head, is the easiest way to get your points across? I do wish you would try it. You would land your ass in a cell before you would even be able to blink. That is if the person you hit does not hit you back with even greater force, and crack your skull. undecided

Anyway, where was I? Yeah, working in construction has many sides to it. There are jobs that unskilled workers with little education can do, and there are jobs that require those with technical skills or advanced educatíonal qualifications. Take your pick.

There is nothing rose-tinted about my viewpoint. sad I have seen those with no support systems and little money, get an education and earn a livelihood through sheer diligent honest hardwork. They used the income they earned legitimately, to sponsor their education. undecided

Public universities and polytechnics are not that expensive. shocked Some still charge under 40k per session. A former classmate of mine was a shoemaker all through our days in school. He designed and manufactured shoes, slippers and sandals for various people. He used the proceeds to pay his fees and sustain himself. He finally graduated with a degree in Estate Management.

Yes, anyone can contract HIV, not just prostitutes. cry But the propensity for contracting it according to experts, is much higher among those in that class.

I have seen people live on the streets. sad And I have seen those who got out of those streets, through legitimate work. The problem are those like you, who justify and enjoy crime, using the excuse of a poor background to continue in their slimy trade.

Even though the Nigerian society is challenging, there are still those who earn a decent honest living through hard work. If every single young man from a poor background decided to go into scams and crime, the whole city would fall apart and even you and your family, would not be able to live in it. shocked

You know quite well that you cannot go into any public place or social gathering, to introduce yourself as a yahoo boy or a scammer, if asked about your profession. Unlike the way an accountant, plumber, carpenter or farmer would proudly announce his profession, if asked the same question. sad

Even if a legit business came your way now, you would refuse to give up your criminal activities, because it is now engraved in your skull, and you are too lazy, clueless and shallow to think of going straight. undecided I have seen too many like you.

Finally, you said you are waiting for Karma? Oh, great. I pray it locates you speedily. undecided So that the evil you have dished out to others, can be visited upon you in greater measure.

One last word: Stop deceiving yourself. shocked You do not sell happiness, dreams or hope. You sell deceit, hopelessness, dishonesty, pain, despair and putrid crime. That is why those you scam curse you, instead of praising you, while those who know your stock in trade, despise you. sad

When your child grows up if you have one, ask him to tell his mates in school, what his father truly does for a living. And wait for his reply. They certainly would NOT applaud him.

As for commercial sex workers, yes - their profession has been legalised in some countries, but that does not make it acceptable across board, in every other country.

It takes a huge toll on the bodies of the women who engage in it, and most of them will tell you that the money they make from the trade, fritters away as fast as they make it. sad

Talk to old prostitutes over the age of 45, and see how worn out and saggy they look. undecided If your daughter tells you she wants to become a commercial sex worker, I hope you would give her your blessings....
