More.

I went to the donation center. Bought a jeans and a top plus sweater. Total of 12$.

The donation center is like a clothing/furniture/electronics store.

They have good stuffs. Grade A okirika.

But you know women things are better looking than men. We men sabi use things. Lots of women stuffs looks like new.

you go see some men shoe, dem don use am, e don change color. but go to the women section, it's like the ladies donated unused things

Please ignore my grammatical blunders on this post. I really have no idea how to go about the topic

African Americans

Our notion (Majority of US in Nigeria) about African Americans isn’t entirely correct. We have the sentiments that they are rude, uneducated, ignorant, disrespectful, always fighting and shooting each other and not family oriented. None of these points is entirely true. It is like saying that Nigerians are “Yahoo-yahoo” people. Is that true? Well, to some extent. Is it a reflection of majority of Nigerians? NO. I agree we do have few bad eggs that are cyber criminals. The issue is that this few are so persistent with this crime and so bold about it that their actions affects us all.

I do understand that living in Nigeria, we know few things about African Americans.
From the contents we see in the news and social media, We have been conditioned to believe that African Americans are nuisance and all they do is fight, rob, shoot each other, loot stores, baby daddies and baby mummies etc. However, statistically, More blacks in 2017 are owning their own business, properties, graduating from college and starting a family than ever seen in the history of US. So, do not let the videos of few ignorant people fighting sums up your experience of African Americans just like you wouldn’t let the news of another Nigerian caught with drugs in Vietnam sums up other people’s reflection of Nigerians.

Also a lot of African Americans have limited knowledge of Africans in general. Majority thinks we run around in the bush naked chasing Lions and antelopes. That is what they generally have been conditioned to believe. However, times are changing and you will meet more open minded AA than ever before (don’t let the few ignorant ones you meet discourage you from reaching out)
If you don’t live here, you might find it hard to understand the systemic oppression black have had to endure (and still enduring) in America. It is hard to explain if you don’t live here.

Coming to America, I want you all to be open minded. Be ready to mingle and interact with people regardless of their background.
Don’t look at people by the reflection of their skin. Understand that people are just people. Good white people, bad/prejudiced white people , good black people, bad/prejudiced black people, good Asian people, bad/prejudiced Asian people etc.

The big difference I have seen here in the US concerning justice is that Whites are always given the benefits of doubts when a crime is committed. It is as if people just automatically assume that White people don’t do crime. People and the justice systems make excuses for whites committing crimes. I have seen it several times happening.
So, black and white people don’t really get the same justice. Working with guy M, I have had stories upon stories from them (guy M and R) how they use to party while younger, do drugs (cocaine, heroin etc) over and over and over. Now in their 50’s they have been sober for a long time, clean up and own their business and doing well for themselves. I have been told the same stories about people close to them. Majority got clean and are well to do now.
The thing is when it come to AA, no one give second chances. You don’t get that second option of going to rehab or getting clean. You get jail time. Go to jail for some years, you come out, it stays on your record, you can’t get a job or carry out some certain functions. You kinda end up in the cycle.
I am not making excuses for anyone doing crime. I am just saying that When it comes to Whites and Blacks, People want white teens/young adults to just be kids and make excuses for their irresponsible ways by saying “kids will be kids” but when it comes to the same black kids, they get to face the full wrath of the justice system.

I'M A LIL BIT ANGRY(MY FRUSTATIONS)

My Parents worked so hard to raise us well and to give us the best in Life. I used to imagine and wish having my own house and 5 cars parked in my compund( EOD, EVIL SPIRIT, MUSCLE, PENCIL AND VENZA each one serving different purposes), I used to tell my friends rushing abroad that "I will stay in this Nigeria and make it big time"..

Jan to Aug 20xx is the day i can never forget, it was during my nysc and infact I have never experienced that kind of sufferness in my life. my friend and I wld buy 6 groundnuts and 1 sugar to drink garri everyday to the extent I became a well know customer there. Along the line Mr A and Mr B came to my rescue.

They housed me, fed me for free(they saved me from sufferness) and treated me like their own blood. As time goes by, I realised my WISH and IMAGINATIONS are washing down the drain and that was why i took a step of faith in seeking for greener pastures.

Sept 20xx, I saw little money after my first Visa denial and I was telling my friend that I will stay in Nigeria and make it in life(Of course I was fooling myself), My Parents are retired and inturn looking up to us(their life investment) but I myself was looking onto God.

Jan 2 20xx, I left Nigeria and some people on fbk messenger will be asking me when am I coming home all the time? My question is HOME TO DO WHAT? I have known people that has spent over 5 year in America that never came home to settle down, You are saying me should come back home.

I lived in a small town and Just moved to Chicago. Chicago wey Obesere dey use sing back in those days wey i dey always dream of, I never spend up to 30 days here feeling the real america and pple are saying I should come home. Do they have something for me at home or just acting like my Village people?

America that I stepped my foot on rekindle my hope that my wish CAN still come true and it WILL come true. America has changed my thinking and it still changing my thoughts to "NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE".With God all things are possible.

I used to pass through O'Hare Airport and admire those airplanes A380 and 747 but i have never once imagine myself in that plane coming to Nigeria. My real Nigeria is in America. America even without $1, I get hope i will eat 3 meal a day, something I can never guarantee in Nigeria without money, America that has made me realised I can be whatever I can be without cutting corners. A day job in America is some people 2 months salary in Nigeria

My answer to you people asking me when am I coming home is simple. I and Nigeria are like parallel lines(for now). I ain't coming nowhere. I have endured sufferness in Nigeria, when it gets better, I will only come and reap the sweetness and come back here again. I HAVE SUFFERED ENOUGH IN NIGERIA.. Tell your leaders to fix up Nigeria. I even sleep in a house without burglary proof without any fear.

I am full blooded Nigerian but God Bless America.

Apologies to people living in Nigeria but I gave up on Nigeria loong time ago.

Thanks to my american wife that took me out on Nigeria

I have been in US more than a year but I lived in a small town. The kind of town even if you live 20 years, no one will believe you go Yankee until you live in the main city.

I have access to african food. The only thing I miss abt nigeria is "lawlessness" where you can do as you want. I prefer to live in a sane environment

Look at the start of snow days.
It is beautiful. And quiet.

There is an explanation of why it feta quiet during winter/sniw storm.

The snow drops traps sounds ( or air, i think, i have to look it up again)

While this is true, there is some nuance too. If you are black, but rich, you also get the benefit of the doubt. You will never find the children of Michael Jordan, Barrack Obama, LeBron James etc. doing jail time for drug offences either.

I've been here 12 years, i find the longer i stay, the farther away Nigeria recedes from memory. I still remember a lot about growing up in Nigeria but going back there is like going back to live among aliens. I can't relate to a laissez faire attitude anymore, "Nigerian time" has become a foreign concept to me, lawlessness gives me heart burn and the thought of having to use a generator to see at night... God forbid.

I wish Nigerians back home all the luck they can get.

You guys' thought of Nigeria makes me weep. I felt thesame way when i left Nigeria for a few months.
I cursed our leaders every new day, seeing how America and the developed world are being run. I saw the UK system also, the saddest part is that all these leaders have dual citizenship along with their children so if anything happens to Nigeria they are out, leaving the masses to slug it out.
I used to be of the school of thought that the followers are the problems of Nigeria but that changed a long time ago. Our leaders are our problem, they ensure people are hungry so that they cannot br challenged.
The justice system has been perverted and you could end up in jail for walking on the street if you don't know anyone.
In all, home is always home.
I pray for Nigeria that God will heal our land and give us peace.

Nigeria Is A Very Difficult Place. We've Been Going On Multiple Industrial Action Since 2009 To Force The Government Into Implementing An Agreement They Gladly Entered Into But They'd Not Have Any Of That. Goes To Show That Even When You Have A Job, You Can Almost Never Live Well. I Procured A Passport Since 2015 Looking For Any Opportunities To Step, Just No Luck Yer. I Need Help!!!

@owols Leaders, including our religious leaders, they played a big role in harming the masses. All they care about is squezing money out of peoples pocket instead of calling peoples attention on how to conquer this challenges at least the've all traveled out of the country, someone once told me that if Nigeria system would be like that of those foreign ones it will take them additional 100 years by then peoples eye will have been forcely open.

I got my visa (B1). Moving to the US by March..I do not know anyone there, but trust me,I'm gon pull through. It will be difficult at first...but I give myself 3 months & I will stabilize. All he 'holier than thous' should not come here and tell me how people like me give an already useless country a bad name. I'm not relocating to do crime, but to work.. And work I shall..legal or not.

I don suffer enough for 9ja. Putting in so much work & still can't afford my basics. What kind of hopeless life is that?

Thanks BJ for being so open & truthful. Someday,I'm gon remind & probably send you gifts for being so real.
Pls, do you think $2k will be enough to start off? Any advice you can give me?

Can you please open up a bit on tax please

What does a minimum earner gets as salary and his final take home after tax.

If he does more dán 1 job, how is d tax calculated?

Do people owe tax(I mean try to pay prolly in the coming month)

And also since u earn on daily basis, How is Ur tax deducted?

Why am asking, I got this quote somewhere

'If a person who earns $5,000 per month pays 15% on her salary over $3,000 and up to $5,000, she will pay $300 pee month.
If a person who earns $5,500 per month pays only 30% on his or her salary, he or she will pay $150.00
per month.
