This people fail to understand that the calendar we are using is a westernized calendar.. The Catholic Church has it's own year starting on the first Sunday of advent sometime in December.. So if everyfaith was to clamor for New Year holiday, I guess we would have so many New Year's..

Calendars we use in the world is 2(Gregorian and Hijri calendar) Solar and lunar based calendars respectively, In islam we use Hijri calendar and also have a new year.

He's also pushing that Hijri calendar new year ought to be celebrated too with a public holiday. Understand the point before criticism and insulting anyone.

We use just one calendar for government and business world over and it is the western calendar. It was the calendar introduced for uniformity by the colonial masters who were essentially business men not christian leaders. So if the Arabs had got their acts right before the western colonialists, Hijri calendar would have been employed and integrated in government and business. So why the hues and cries?
