I want to know what each person would do to fix Nigeria if he/she were elected president.

What policies would you implement in order of time?

On Dec 15, INEC approved the registration of 21 new political parties. Some comments on the vanguard website included - "Confused country", "Madness, bunch of political loafers.", "wat nonsense . who benefits from these confusion".

What is your take on this?

Going back to the drawing board remains the answer. I will convene a robust national Confab. After this I will hire foreign experts to understudy it and draw a road map. I will keep the experts by the side for advice.

I will make mine simple and precise
1. Electricity

2. Good road networks, bridges, trains and so on

3.Education

4. Security

5. Health

The rest will fall into place automatically cool

I'm seeing a lot of horseshit comments. . .
One man's horseshit is another manure

as far as I'm concerned, the President has very little power unless both the upper and lower chambers support his agenda.
Pikin yen no comot him papa farm go say na in big pass

Not saying he won't be able to achieve anything but it'd be marginal.

See above
See how Obama's "legacy" is being blown to smithereens by Trump.
1 it's a stupid legacy
2 not Trump, American ppl, voters and Congress, republicans

I don't even know if Nigeria grants the president powers to sign executive orders. But since everyone is used to blaming the President, a lot feel the person in that seat can do wonders.
You don't need executive orders to ensure budget is properly implemented

See that one saying he'll "clamour for a new constitution". Lmao. When it takes ages and processes upon processes to carry out amendments,
All it takes are Ghana must go bags of money

oga is saying he'll create a new constitution. Nigeria can only become better the moment the populace starts taking interest in lower levels of government, and the legislative arm at each level. But I mean. . .most people don't even know that they can hold LGA chairmen responsible for the 'clay' local roads, running water, etc. Even the LGA chairmen themselves are a bunch of touts that gather with their friends to share their allocations and drink beer. Lol
Toh since you know this why do you think a willing president will not have the leverage required to fix the country.

got many things but first
I'll implement the constitutional conference report that will bring about regional government.
How
Only Nass can implement laws changing

if that is done..we shall abolished bicameral house and make it a Parliamentary system...

See above

I'll appoint technocrats into every ministry of the government to forestall massive development and growth...

And what about the ppl that campaigned for you or you think you can survive without them impeaching you

in fight against corruption, ill move a motion for capital punishment to erring corrupt government, politician, civil servants or individual who is found guilty of the crime by the court...

Again president can't make laws
Will corrupt Nass agree?

power generation shall be topmost priority. we shall make other sources of power a do or die affair.. viz a viz. solar, wind, thermal ,coal, nuclear so that we can have production at it's maximum..

With which money
They can't run industry in short term

agriculture shall be second to non..all our agricultural produced shall be processed here before been exported. this will bring industrial revolution to our country which will created employment and boost foreign exchange....products like cassava, cashew, plantain, oil palm, cocoa, rubber, rice ,cotton, millet, sorghum, cow hides, etc will be processed locally...

Electricity nko and

these are just some of the agendas that will be implemented when I'm the CiC of the armed forces...subse

quent policies will be derived from this setup..

if I were to be the president of Nigeria
I will do the following
* make everyone pay tax for each property you acquire, I.e pay tax for 5 cars each
* diversify the economy, put more interest into agriculture than crude oil
* increase import rate, so Nigerians can patronize locally made goods
* make sure everyone retires at 50
* create more job opportunity
* no govt official is allowed to go abroad for medical check up
* dissolve ghost workers
* call for investment from foreigners

Only a well-meaning dictator, like military authoritarian can sanitize this country. It's beyond democracy & rule of law. To fix this land, u must trample on lots of toes, even int'l toes like countries & other int'l organization.

Can a Democratic president just wake up & say all political offices salaries be slashed by 80% Rule of law, due process & human rights are our problems.

If I av my way there, first thing is to become a dictator.

All I see here is I will , I will . The real question is how will you do it . From what I have read here 90% of Nigerians don't know how government works , they think if you just become president you can wave your hand and money starts falling , laws start changing etc it takes more than that

Centralization based on SS/SE oil
Restructuring based on all man to himself.

that why I said I would encourage a robust tax regime if 1 , if 2 it opens up a broad range of fund esp from some of the northern states and plateau in mining esp iron ore, columbite, some uranium, tungsten e.t.c but this would require a very heavy turn around in our mining sector, that sector is worth hundreds of billions of dollars annually but its left in the hands of very few individuals. if keeping status quo do not forget that gas is there.

but I thought that every state owns the oil well located both inland and within a few feet of land and that's why they can demand royalty from oil coys through the FG. anyway I support restructuring but not in the way everyone is going about it. left to me I would choose UK system of only fg and LGA. I believe the states are the problem in nigeria. those governors are money guzzlers

If generating tax from the Northern states is so easy, why do you think they depend entirely on SS/SE oil & gas despite being encouraged to do away with oil & gas wealth.

Illiteracy is not knowing that the root holding this status quo that prevents states from depending on themselves, is SS/SE oil & gas.

I would encourage Nigeria nationalism and patriotism.
I would implement a new tax regime which would tax according to your income/wealth.

Why
Taxation kills incentive to produce

implement competency test which would do away with lurkers and ensure employment/promotion based on merit.
Yet these lurkers put you in power
You think they will vote next election? Or if you get impeached

invest heavily in agriculture in fact I would borrow Saddam or Gaddafi's model of government involvement in agriculture esp for rice and cassava for at least 2 yes before other crops as such heavy investment in rice in 4 million hectares can easily earn the country over $1billion annually and Nigeria has over 36 million hectares of arable land.
OK my wish too but still how do you get Nass to move whole budget to agric legally

privatise the railway as it seems the required capital needed for its expansion would be to much.
revisit or revoke privatisation on power.
Why
Govt has failed at this
Private sector better at everything

Everything including welfare

nationalize the transport sector esp interstate transport.
See above
Ask Nigeria airways and Nigeria Shipping

stop issuance of contracts esp road. the ministry of works is not there to be ministry of contracts and employ people to wot
Understood but private sector will always be cheaper and more efficient than govt. When you leave they will start hiring their brothers and sisters and party supporters that are not needed
Penny wise pound foolish
What you should do is monitor proper compact bidding and delivery

invest in health sector esp putting a model where the senior minister is in charge of public healthcare, disease breakout e.t.c and the junior is in charge of health infrastructure, hospitals e.t.c and ensure the take off of the NHIS scheme.
Again leave private insurers to compete

encourage states to sell/privatise the football clubs.
Just stop subventing the clubs
Privatise the stadia
It isgovt officials sharing the gate proceeds instead of investing in the sports

a full capacity stadium of about 65,000 can at the very least net a club over #890mn per season. also invest heavily in other sports, university sports to remove youths from idleness and give them a source of livelihood.
Leave private sector otherwise you will be back to square zero as we are with sports in general

invest in the education sector and encourage both old and young to go back to school .
Private sector o
But provide Scholarship for the worthy indigent not everyone
Awoof de run our bele

make sure schools teach ethics. stop lecturers from striking.
Where will you get their new salary from in short term
Leave to private sector

try all possible best to make education as free as possible.
nothing is free
Chickens will come home to roost

it is a right not a privilege

It is a privilege that is being abused
Only God almighty has right to anything
. encourage start ups and research in the universities to encounter inventions.
in science and technology encourage think tanks and research institutes. Nigeria once had one of the best crop research institutes in the world, its time to take that position back. encourage research in alt fuel. also research paranormal claims.
discourage teen and unmarried pregnancy as this brings unwanted social trouble, also encourage adoption and discourage more than 3 children per family in order to put our population dynamics under control.
Don't mess with nature
Ask India and China
Capitalism will reduce population naturally

discourage the propagation of bad morals being passed by celebrities by making laws to discourage such and also discourage pirating/copyright infringement. also encourage arts and crafts and tourism
ensure the security forces are trained in public skills and punish severely those who violate human rights. let every agency know its jurisdiction and not be used for grudge or revenge mission. buy new weapons/ for them esp the police, set up an internal affairs unit that monitors officers and also hire trained psychiatrist and psychologist.
That's all for now my hands are paining me. will continue later

You cannot do this without:

1. The agreement of the National Assembly first;
2. After which you require the agreement of the people by way of referendum.

In other words, forget it. This is practically impossible.

We need a president who can set realistic and achievable goals.

The Nigerian challenge is simply put, that of "the individually satisfying but net counterproductive pursuit of non-collective/noninclusive success".

To reverse the vicious cycle is counterintuitive but also simple if the challenge is well understood:

"A government that guarantees and meaningfully deploys all its supportive and protective resources behind any and all socially responsible enterprises will manifest the promise of the country (while holding each one accountable for their social contracts)".

Outcomes: employment, inclusiveness, ethnicity transcendence, meritocracy, brotherly love. With these, mass prosperity is inevitable.

Provide jobs and wealth and ppl will stop fighting over resources

saraki's trial, and even sale of parties form)
what is undemocratic about party form.

even if the new constitution passes they would manipulate it to the point that it would be worse than the previous one.
And your lawyers will be looking at them?

do you think they would go for a constitution that backs the FIRS to seize any Ill begotten wealth or a law that backs free education or a law that makes it possible for the gov to ask for the source of wealth or a law that allows for the suspension of immunity once misdeeds can be proven. such laws will eliminate the powers of sacred cows.

These laws already exist
Just no political will to enforce cos everyone is more interested in loot
Do you know that only a few of the security agents meant to guard us are in reality guarding us. most of them guard the so called big wigs, their family and worst of all their empty houses. funny thing is if the big wigs/politicians do their job right there really will be no need for their guards.

Those are the guards you voted for via the bigwigs

Truth of the matter is we have to look at a party system that would favor us either the USA virtual two party system with independent candidates or the semi European style of Israel(but with multi party, multi ideological - because a political party is just a big boys club if it has no clear ideological goal) or the Chinese communist system or others to numerous to mention
