There was a total blackout in the country due to high frequency transmission this evening, but it seems in some parts of the country, the power has been fully restored
Report from your area...
Power has been restored some minutes to twelve o' clock

Reporting from Diobu, Port Harcourt

Power generation has really improved!

If you are close to any power generating station in places like Ilorin, Niger, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Rivers State, Aba etc you should expect light because, these stations will supply directly to their respective states without sending to the national grid until it is fixed.

I stay in mile 2, mile 1 and ikwerre road axis were leading in the past years but now mile 2 has steady power supply. All parts of Diobu has steady supply especially the mile one area closer to us.

Don't make a big deal about this grid collapse.

It may surprise a lot of you, but grid collapse happens in Nigeria an average of 30 times a year.

As at July last year, the national grid had collapsed 14 times in the first 6 months -- http://punchng.com/power-grid-has-collapsed-14-times-this-year/

In 2016, it collapsed 21 times in the first 6 months -- http://www.informationng.com/2016/07/nigerias-power-grid-collapsed-21-times-in-first-six-months-of-2016.html

Usually tho', there will be a same-day or at most 2-day (typically only a few hours) wait before partial restoration. It's been that way since the 2000s.

So don't panic. If it hasn't been restored in your area, it would be at some point.

That said, if your area rarely gets electricity, this changes nothing. Nigeria only generates an average of 4000MW per day for 180m people. Everyone would not have light at the same time. And everyone would not have 20 hours of light like the poster below me.

As for the update from Fashola. It is commendable, but also political. Let's hope the updates on Twitter keep coming every time there's a grid collapse, because going by recent data, it'd collapse at least two dozen times before the year ends. Unless of course, this is about 2019 and is just politics!

Nigerians use your head. It's a new year. No let politicians fool you.

-Lord

God Bless PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI for responding Abruptly.
