somehow:
Too bad OBJ and his friends ate $19B that would have been used to upgrade these equipments during his time.

The reasons why they'll never fix electricity problem are multi-faceted.

1. They would have lesser reasons for outright fraud on power projects. This is self-explanatory.

2. The gap between the developed parts of Nigeria and the underdeveloped parts would be further widened. Someone in Abuja is afraid of what Onitsha, Nnewi, Aba, Agbara, Ikeja Industrial Estate or Lagos would look like with constant electricity.

3. Nigerians' spendings on Petroleum products like diesel and gasoline would reduce. This means lesser profits for Oando, Conoil, NNPC Mega Stations, Capital Oil, etc. These guys are some of the largest contributors to elections.

Ppl keep saying transmission lines are weak and old, sometimes I wonder how old id old. For the western world where transmission is underground, how many times in a century do they replace the lines? Do ppl experience blackout for days for them to draw out the line and do the replacement.

They should simply handover the PHCN to like 5 different core western investors for 99yrs while we concentrate on other things and save billions we pour into this electricity generation abyss. We would even still tax them and make more money. People think Nigeria has enough electricity generated. If few companies in Otta or Agbara Ogun state switch their engines to PHCN, Nigerians will stop seeing light.

If we do what you propose, we would be paying power bills as high as N20000 a month for a room and parlor on a prepaid meter.

Keep in mind that investors are not coming to give/dash us money, they are coming to make money.

A country full of saboteurs, the moment they noted that this government is taking accolade on electricity supply, the next thing they do is to disrupt and pass the blame to Buhari directly.

The country most truely be a zoo, we need to tame some people that derive joy in peoples pain and agony all in the name of dirty politics.

There is no sabotage.

The problem is transmission...it is bad and in need of replacement....and it is going to cost $100billion....which is far more than what we have, and which means taking more loans....while paying increased bills.

It has been off since over a week here in Ondo city which implies that there was even darkness before, during and after the New Year but fortunately for us today it was on 3 hours ago.
Are you guys just experiencing yours today? Well, let's keep enjoying the change we voted for grin

Ours is Benin electricity distribution com and now it's the turn of Eko electricity distribution company? Well my advise is that all other states with different distribution company aside the above mentioned ones should stay tuned we are all gonna be served well wink

Restructuring is the answer o, Many Northerners are very comfortable without electricity by default, In fact most Hausa I know rarely watch TV , use battery powered radio and old nokia phone . Electricity is not priority to Nigeria Government, they see it as a luxury

1.You need to get out more.

2.I can tell you many Northerners use electricity well, well, well. They use it to watch tv, power their businesses, and a host of other things.

3.Electricity is a priority. The problem is that we need $300 billion to fix things. That is why the last admin privatized the whole thing...because the private sector has a better chance of raising the cash...

4.Another problem is that most of you Nigerians, Northerners and Southerners, and many govt agencies dont like paying your bills. You refuse to pay your light bills, you bypass the prepaid meter, you bribe DISCO guys to not disconnect you.....and then you complain when you have no light.Well...the DISCOS and GENCOS cannot perform if you are not paying your bills....ie expanding services, building new power generation plants, etc.

All these are issues restructuring....or giving the whole South the oil money, which is what you really want...won't solve.
