But still they are indirectly telling us that ..."look the problem is not from us but rather from the dependencies required for power generation and distribution to take place" grin its good though at least before the opposition parties begin to latch on this for political gains.

The rudderlessness of the Buhari government is a new low in the history of Nigeria. Bear in mind that this " system collapse" is coming about 24 hours after his much criticized empty new year speech that sounded more like a campaign manifesto in which he ululated his 7000 mw power generation.

On power, he claims we are at an all time high in power generation but you and I know that our power sector has been bedevilled by poor distribution networks. So why the constant chest-beating when all the megawatts generated is not reaching our homes.

Under this administration, our teaming youths have borne the short end of this democracy as it has made small the unemployment "wahala" we witnessed under the PDP era.

I am no card carrying member of any political party in the land but with the way this country is being run, I see "Iran" being slowly replicated sooner in Nigeria.

"Our mumu really don do"
In a thread talking about Nigeria's rotten power infrastructure, you stuck up a quote from a PDP lawyer accusing Buhari of being a certificateless illiterate; you indirectly inferred that the 'certificate status' had something to do with poor power infrastructure. All I did with my comment was remind you how a PhD holder just recently ruled for 5 years, spent billions of dollars, but still handed over a rotten carcass power sector. So go think deeper about that when next you want to ascribe Nigeria's dead power sector to the certificate status of Buhari who has only ruled for 2.5 years.

You have started this nonsense in 2018.

GEJ did not spend $8.5b on the electricity sector. Provide a quote to back that up.

GEJ privatized the sector. That's what he did for most of his tenure. Every money spent was in completing existing power plants, boosting transmission capacity, and rural electrification. The money he realized from selling off the generation and distribution part of PHCN was used to pay gratuity to the workers. Every last kobo of it. It is on record.

OBJ wasted $16b on power, yet you guys were falling at his feet in 2015. If I were to blame him, I wouldn't say it's because of the amount he wasted, because he was our first president in the fourth republic and he at least had to try to make it work under government hands. What I'd condemn him for is how long it took him to realize that he had to privatize the sector. It took him too long.

Why do you think he decided to sell the refineries?

GEJ got elected, saw all the stats and knew throwing money down the pan would not yield anything tangible. He also found that restructuring NEPA to PHCN didn't do much either, so he decided to unbundle it and let the government run only the transmission part. It is that same transmission part that has collapsed an average of 30 times annually since 2014. Including in 2015, 2016, 2017, and yesterday was the first of this year. It would collapse again before this month is over.

All of you politicizing power in Nigeria are completely disgraceful.

And Nigeria was not generating 2000 MW when GEJ handed over. We have a bloody government-established website tracking power generation in Nigeria--https://nsong.org.

It gives daily updates. The peak and lowest generation always varies and it's been between 4000-5000MW peak and 2500-38000MW off-peak since 2014. Occasionally, it drops below 2000MW, like it did in March 2016 when it dropped to 1580MW -- https://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/03/power-generation-drops-to-1580-6mw/.

So, don't be stup*d! If you have nothing tangible to say, sh*t your trap!

@LordAdam, this is 2018, don't you think it's too early to begin raining insults at people while you expose your ignorance?

POWER SECTOR SPEND
Firstly, cant you hear how incoherent you sound?... You first claimed OBJ wasted $16billion, then you claimed GEJ didn't spend much on the power sector, and then you stated again that GEJ only spent money to complete existing projects. If I may ask, what existing projects did GEJ complete (if not for the numerous projects previously started by OBJ with the $16 billion)?... Can't you see how hypocritical and ridiculous you sound in your desperate attempt to demonize OBJ and sanctify GEJ?... Whilst OBJ may have mismanaged the $16 billion, the fact remains that he commenced all the NIPPs and most of the expensive heavy equipment, turbines etc. were already procured and were rotting away in the ports with the funds meant for their clearing and installation squandered/looted. GEJ like you said only picked up from where OBJ stopped.

But then, you emphatically stated that GEJ spent nothing on the power sector, but below are some reports which claims he spent over $8 billion (still to no avail exactly just like OBJ), I did not create these reports so you have no right to call me stupid.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2015/08/power-sector-senate-probes-obj-yaradua-jonathan/
http://thenationonlineng.net/jonathans-dark-power/

POWER GENERATION
You posted a link to the NESO website (https://nsong.org), but if you were half as smart or meticulous as you brag, you should have at least opened the website you supplied to verify my claims before jumping to make a fool of yourself in public and calling me names. Below is the report of peak and minimum power generation just a week to handover and on the handover day showing generation dropping to below 2000mw
www.nairaland.com/attachments/5381093_powergen_jpeg1c9f6029b22df1fe842d7c86b55cae51

Below is a news report on the week of handover to that same effect:
http://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/headlines/183496-nigerias-power-generation-at-all-time-low-crashes-to-1327mw.html

So now that I have provided some evidence to back-up my claim, who do you think is actually being stupid and should shut-up between us both??

You people must really think Nigerians are stupid, dumb, reterdded, have amnesia or memory loss.

You can cut and dice your meaningless rubbish anyway you like, but we know we gave the PDP/Jona 16 years and $20 billion to give us stable electricity, but all they did was stole the $20 billion and gave us continued darkness in return, we basically spent 16 continued years in darkness, lost 16 years and our $20 billions in private bank accounts.

Jona wasn't any different, he was part of the same crooked, corrupt and incompetent PDP government that kept us in darkness even after your so-called privatization and selling off valuable government power assets to his and PDP cronies for cheap, they didn't have power business experience and zero funds to invest and improve their operations.

The only reason we are doing better today is because of the competent people we have running and making strategic decisions in the power ministry and other government agencies working in tandem and in sync across the board to make sure we stay on track and keep moving forward.

Jona left the same MWs and inefficient power system he met with zero improvements, but we've moved past that and in less than 3 years and we have fully efficient agencies capable collaborating and addressing serious outages within hours with minimum disruptions.

1. They addressed the problem in record time.

2. The collaborated across several agencies to get it done.

3. The issued a timely public service announcement to clearly explain and articulated what happened, how they address the situation and ultimately the most import thing, calming public fears and anxieties.

These acts should be normal in Nigeria, but never have been till now which we find very refreshing, it says a lot about the people running the system at this point, it says a lot about their competence, dedication, and sense of duty and savvy public relations skills.

There's absolutely no need to keep boring us with the PDP and GEJ because Nigerians gave them 16 years and $20 billion to solve our power crisis, but they failed and left us in darkness, but in less than 3 years and without $20 billion power funds, we are seeing dramatic change across the board not only in improved power supply but also in the competence and positive attitude of the people running the system.

You can bore us with all the worthless essays your heart desire, but we are not going back to the dark ages your PDP uncles left for us to endure.
