Yea, u are correct but not for 5 years uninterrupted... Not possible for now in this Nigeria

Chief, it's possible.

It may be though that he is staying in a location that gets off-grid power but the managers rotate with grid power and he got a blackout when the collapse occurred.

The collapse didn't affect everyone, not at the same time anyway. Fashola said, it happened at 8:20. Many comments reiterated his submission, but mine happened at a couple of minutes past 9.

There's an area in my city that has uninterrupted power. It's off-grid, but it isn't close to the city center, which is why I haven't moved. It's entirely possible that they may also be tethered to the grid, and may have been affected by this collapse.

Or his blackout had nothing to do with the grid and was just a coincidence as his off-grid network had issues at the same time.

If you are close to any power generating station in places like Ilorin, Niger, Osun, Akwa Ibom, Rivers State, Aba etc you should expect light because, these stations will supply directly to their respective states without sending to the national grid until it is fixed.
lol... all generated power is transmitted to the national grid. Nothing like direct supply.

In Minna Niger State it's total blackout, even before now, a state that pride itself as power state can hardly boast of three hour light daily. I am surprise a state that own Shiroro dam that generate electricity can be thrown into darkness with the state government going about unperturbed, sometimes ago the citizen of the state protested about the shoddy treatment of AEDC on Nigerlites, nothing seems to have changed since then.

Don't speak authoritatively on what you know little of. The National grid is not the problem bedevilling electric supply in Nigeria. The main culprits are the EDCs. That is why you can have places with 20-24hours light supply and less than 6 hours in others. The supply from the grid is constant. How the EDCs distribute that supply is another story.

In Itu axis of Uyo, there is almost 24 hours of light, and not just any light but 220volts light! In my home state of Delta, we have less than 12 hours of light in many places. Yet in both instances, we work with the same national grid although with different EDCs.

There are even cases where the EDCs choose to supply steady light to some areas that pay bills steadily (judging from the general) than areas that prefer to cut corners or bribe electricity disconnectors (also judging from the general). In such areas, there may be exceptions of people who pay or do not pay but what the EDCs are concerned with is what the general populace does. In Uyo, for instance, people faithfully pay their bills and only a few cut corners (at least from what I have observed). In Delta, the case is very different.

I get what u are saying, the national grid it's about 5000 megawatt, it's definitely not enough to serve Nigeria's 180 million population. I have noticed that in Nigeria we have what we call industrial line which is 33kv and resident line which is 11kv. The industrial line is constant unless there is a fault, what most communities do is to pay the disco to supply them from the industrial line, that's why most areas have constant light while others don't, but some estate I have seen having 24 hours light are usually not connected to the National grid.
