The reason why some of you are unemployed is that in reality you lack the key ingredient of critical reasoning.

It is even written, it is a social intervention programme.
A stop-gap.

It is meant to be a bridge between 2 stages in your life.

One even tried to bring in the issue of connections as a criterion for being a beneficiary. Now think about it.

There are 200 thousand beneficiaries. It would require each state to produce 5,555 connected applicants.
Can't you see already how flawed your argument is?

Let us even assume 200,000 people were selected by way of nepotism, if it were possible.
It still means 200,000 people have been taken off the unemployed train.

To the issue of age : As much as I wish a programme could be created to accommodate everyone the reality is that a country of 200 million cannot take on that role.
It would be a logistical nightmare and project that would never take off.

I hate to use the word ingrate but some of you really need to apply introspection and caution in how you express bitterness.

The country is rich in resources but it is not wealthy.

If you ever thought it was you should have a re-think.

If you still believe it is . I daresay, you are unemployable.

Note: I am a private individual with no connection to this government.

Only money I have ever made from government was during my NYSC days.

N-Power is a social intervention programme for the unemployed in Nigeria. On the other hand, it is addressing some of the perennial inadequacies in public services.

As an N-Power beneficiary, tell us how what you do helps the society.

You engage graduates for two years, place them on a stipend of N1000 per day. They feed, pay for transport, buy detergents from this token. You couldn't even place them on graduate entry level salary for that two years! What happens to them after the completion of their two years? You lay them off and take another set to replace them? Do we even know what empowerment means in this country?
If you really want to empower people or graduates. Give them permanent jobs, or train them in business and give them a lumpsum capital to start their own, or give them equipment to start their firms or company. You can't be paying someone 30k a month in this era of hyper inflation and expect him to become an employer after two years. Mediocrity everywhere! Pathetic!

naijapips04:
Npower is a scheme to shortchange Nigerians.

Instead of government running a proper recruitment for positions, they are using graduates as a means of cheap labour.

Imagine working for N30k a month.

Sure-P was more realistic. The solar borehole established by SURE-P in my community still stands till today but sadly has been left to rot by this evil admin.
You meant to say that government was supposed to be maintaining it for you? Your community couldn't organise themselves and have an account into which you guys save whatever you are contributing into just for maintenance? Government gave you borehole and you still wanted her to maintain it for you? You and the other people in your community are not serious.
BTW: I like your comment on Npower. FG said that she is addressing the issue of unemployment, then what happens to the beneficiaries after two years? Everyone goes back to the streets?

Some people are just bitter because, they aren't pre-selected by Npower. This is not a permanent job, the two years period will give you an ample time to get better offer.

Some are saying you get it with connection, I know many people that aren't connected but they were preselected.

You love to call him minister of darkness, never minding what he inherited. Once the situation is good you begin to say he hasn't done anything worthy.

I'm not sure of that. Those I know who filled that form got shamed in the end. Till now I still make jest of them.
Back to the question, if the government really wants us to correct the ills in the public service, they should start by expanding the coverage of Npower, what stops us from working in ministries and parastatals... The likes of CBN is meant for their children while we are to be correcting ills with a stipend of 30k that can't even cater for my weekly needs.

If you like say I don't appreciate it.. Their children in CBN, NDIC and other...getting job through the back door aren't better than average Nigerians

I laugh in Spanish... I have lost fate in this administration, the only person I support is my Fashola, others are just birds of a feather!

Really? When were these "improvements" that testimonies were so muted?

Every government has inherited projects even from PDP to PDP. Yet, the issue of power has never been addressed .

Today, people are beginning to give sweet testimonies on power supply.

The minister of darkness must enjoy the plaudits after taking the brickbats

How I wish it is converted to a permanent job not empowerment because when they leave their ppa it will return again to how it was before then the effort of the Federal government might not be seen on a long run.

What anyone likes, let them say. Npower scheme is the only or most beautiful idea from this administration. Those complaining are those who ruined their own chance of being selected or lost the pre-selection because of ignorance and pride.

Working in a FG agency that is involved with the programme, you see how Nigerian graduates display folly. Some came up with fake documents for verification and some other were even called to come and they tell us we are scammers. Now you come to Nairaland to spew nonsense.

You give Npower wrong and uncoordinated information, you pick wrong answers during test, you fail to submit your test answers correctly and you say its someone in government that decided that you should not be selected

You should remember as well that quota based on how much participants needed in the areas and number of applicants per state was considered during pre-selection..

Go and know what you are talking about before you come out to say nonsense. You just talk without getting the right information.

You are a typical example of an African man! Lack of objectivity. Even when the truth sits right in front of you, you will still claim mr right. You can sit in your dusty office and hail the government while the better jobs go to their wards and patron.

No matter how good you are, how hard you try, the best of the places in the public sector will never be for the masses but for their wards and patron because you know what- merit doesn't stand a chance there, when last did any high profile/paying parastatal or agency recruit.. No you won't know because its meant for them alone.

While the job of 30k that will expire in 24 months is for the masses.

Sahara reporters published the list of those who got job during this administration in CBN through the back door... Now its history. The earlier you realize the Nigerian structure is eternally stratified, the more you should think of leaving that your dusty office for a saner clime. Do that not for your impaired soul but for your innocent kids

You can keep on thanking God for the 30k part-time job, but he also gave you the brains to think but not solely for appreciation and asslicking!

Dear N-Power,

Might I suggest that the beneficiaries of this scheme be absorbed into the civil service? N-Power beneficiaries have passed a competency test, received training, and are not ghost workers. They make a great addition to the government workforce.

Wait, are u a Nigerian or an Indian? your grammatic expression seems illogical! looks like u are translating mothers tongue to English language.
Away from that, the truth remains that nothing good come easy! half bread is better than none, Npower job has affected lives & a lot of Nigeria welcome it well. 30k is better than nothing, if u think other juicy jobs in federal public sectors are not for poor Nigeria, think about those who has gotten this job in a plater of gold. don't 4get, Rome was not built in a day. the problems with today youth is that, they want to build heaven & health in a day without going through any stress. i presume u are one of such person.
