My Toshiba satellite L500 laptop can no longer charge when the current is low. I can only use it now at full current. This is a new development and I don't know why it is happening. Please what could be the cause and how can I solve it? Thanks.

you have mentioned the problem already. Dont plug your charger to insufficient source of power supply.

But the same power supply was charging it initially. I have even bought a new charger but it is still happening. I'm thinking it is from the system. It is difficult to have a full current from NEPA like generator.

as far as the voltage from NEPA is low, it can never be from the system.
You can conclude the fault is from the system when the system refuse to charge/power-on when the voltage from nepa is ok.

To be frank, I'm very confused. The same voltage was charging it few months back and no issues. Besides my other laptop get charged with the same voltage.
Another thing I should mention is that when the laptop is off, it charges with the low voltage, it is only when I switch it on and start using it, it will stop charging except when I'm on Gen.
But laptops don't require 220volts to charge naa. I just need solution, fuel is costly now

the mistake you are making is thinking alll low voltage should charge your laptop.
If you care to learn, there is a minimum voltage that must be available to your laptop before it can charge or switch on.
Your eyes or brain is not a voltmeter that measures electric volatage. The reason the low current was chsrging it before is probably becsuse the amount of voltage still falls within the minimum value that can power the laptop. Now that it isnt working again, the voltage has probably gone lower and cannot power it anymore.

It may also be that the unstable voltage has damaged the charger or the laptop!

if it is integrated or dedicated, forget about replacing it cause its not worth it or may not be feasible.

It is normal for the power time of your battery to reduce with time. Its not an issue. Just get ready for a replacement .

am so so sorry if was been rude. The problems aren't from your explanation, I think its from the person that upgraded the system, he didn't drive the system. I took it to another engineer and he explain some mistake the first engineer made

Check ebay for the price. That Dell is a US system. Getting it casing here can be a daunting task
