Thats a lie I have a cousin who had been tryin to gain admission into U.I some years back but couldn't get into U.I but now the dude is a student at the University Of Miami. The fact is just that our education system is poor, infact some countries don't accept Nigerian Bsc certificates
I thought you would say the cousin gained admission into UI eventually.

He was not good enough for UI, but he was good enough for the Miami University because abroad, it is your money that will determine if you go to College or not. College is expensive there, so, you will not see every Tom, Dick & Harry there as you will see in Nigeria.

If Federal Universities increased their fees to 200K per session, do you think there wouldn't be a decline in seeking University admission?

You can be an average student in Nigeria, but you will get admission abroad as long as you can afford the schooling.

This UI issue is very sensitive for you obviously.

Its about standard of their education not your cash the exam the dude wrote before he could gain a UM admission wasn't a joke. If a Nigerian graduate was giving those questions he/she may fail woefully and yet my cousin who had be denied by a mediocre Nigerian Uni gained admission into a top American Uni

how much did he pay? Was his fees the same 20-60K Federal Universities charge?

You think if the University of Miami was charging same as UI that more of the UI aspirants wouldn't apply there?

The exam was no joke, if your cousin could pass it, many more admission seekers in Nigeria will, after all, thousands of Nigerians apply for schools abroad and get admitted, na only money fit stop you.

This is impressive, UI is an institution I respect in the South west. With such acceptance rates, lecturer-student ratio is bridged to a favourable standard.

However, the incessant strike action is what UI should look into, probably pull out of ASUU, NASU, SSANU and the likes, seek better means of generating funds besides federal government allocations, attract alumni funding (which I'm sure they're on it) and UI would rise above to be among the top 900 in the world.

If after doing all these they are ranked in world first 900, what must they do to be among world first 10?

Just thinking the impossible

Their decision to allocate about 70% of the studentship slot to PG is mostly financial.
Most people know this.

just compare the UG and PG fees and see the Stark difference in proportion.
Really? Pls like how much does PG pay in comparison to UG?

It is not impossible. They just need so much money to achieve it. UI wants to be top 250 and not top 10. They can very much achieve it. If they have money to encourage quality publication they would help. They also need 19% of their students and staff to be from Foreign Universities and must encourage top notch foreign co-research.

But it is not impossible. However, a lot needs to be done. Imagine what the likes of Harvard, Oxford, Cambridge, Stanford, MIT are doing (or have been doing) to stay top. We have a long long way to go.

We know your type.
You all come online to call a university mediocre after failing woefully and couldn't buy your way into the University.

Your brother failed because he wasn't good. This same Ui that doesn't have good standards is the same Ui myself and my friends stormed and passed in colours.
tackle your brother's poor performance and not the university's standard.

Boy you know nothing and you lack sense of reasoning, no ng uni is among the top 1000 even university of makerere in tanzania, Uni of ghana, uni of pretoria are among.
Lets assume U.I was among the top 600 why can't it make top 10 or 20 when even a uni in singapore is among the top 20 http://topuniversities.com/university-rankings/world-university-rankings/2018
