Angry Father Calls Out Private Schools For Giving Students Too Much Homework by IamHeWrites: 6:19am On Jan 12, 2018
An Angry Nigerian dad took to his Facebook page,
“Esv Jibrilla Madu Gadzama” to call out teachers in private schools and accused them of shifting the responsibility of teachers to parents, by way of giving them too much homeworks.

Below is what he wrote on Facebook;
"FRAUD BY NIGERIAN PRIVATE SCHOOLS
HOMEWORK! HOMEWORK! AND MORE HOMEWORK FOR PARENTS.

It has become clear to many parents that the task of teaching their children has been shifted to them despite the huge fees they keep doling out to private schools.

Children come home with homework that requires over 6 hours to complete and the children are usually clueless about the topic. Clearly some of these topics were never introduced in class and the burden of breaking in the topic is shifted to the parents.

In some cases a topic is given a very brief introduction in class then a slew of tasks is bundled as assignments and becomes the parent’s responsibility to ground the child in the subject.

Nigerian parents remain docile. They know they are being shafted but continue to take it.
Some schools try to drive the narrative that all other kids are up to par and only yours is finding it difficult.

Bull! The teachers are trained to sell you that line (the only training they seem to receive). This belief gives every parent a catch-up mentality. So you either enroll in their “extra lessons ” or you find yourself doing homework for your children everyday.

This phenomenon (fraud) was prevalent in China until parents got together and fought against it.

After paying exorbitant school fees, the schools pay peanuts to the teachers. Some private school teachers in Nigeria consider themselves unemployed because their remuneration is so small!

They can’t be bothered to be dedicated. Besides many just simply are untrained.

The private schools have found a solution: transfer the teaching tasks to the parents!

Parents must individually reject this fraud!
Insist on only one assignment per subject per week. If the schools won’t comply then we must refuse to pay school fees this January!

Insist that teaching must be in the classroom! Not through ‘extra lessons ‘!

It is a big lie that every other child except yours is doing well! They only exploit your competitive spirit!

Enough is enough! Teach our children or we will not pay the school fees! If we are doing all the work we might as well enroll them in the LEA public schools!"

Lead the Protest #Tag,Homework must reduced....Though i am sure its a strategy employed by these private schools aimed at trying to convince parents that they are actually working and that the arbitrary high fees charged are justified.

Good if the teacher will mark it

You get to school the following day and teacher ask you to exchange your assignment with your colleagues, solve it on the board and mark your colleague accordingly, before you complete that process, the period is over.

Some teachers can never be forgiven

Very true. Some homeworks are meant for the parents and not for the children.

How can a teacher ask in a homework...What work does your father and mother do? What time does your father go to work? Does your father drink alcohol?

Some schools need to be shut down.

grin If you don't give them now and you see your neighbor's kids busy with theirs, you'll still complain. So we understand.

A friend once told me. He said, "Joseph... This town parents are illiterates. Let's bombard this kids with homework as to make parents to take us serious. grin Some said their kids play a lot at home. Please don't pity them."

Truth is most teachers are lazy to even mark and score appropriately. To them, marking this homework gives them ample free time to gossip about. After all they're busy too.
Some kids have learnt this. They would never do theirs, after all, na to flog last last. We end up recycling and producing same garbage of students.
The best is class quiz or class work. Let them go home and read. Yes they won't, yes we know. Give them something little they already know to keep them excited and busy. Weekend should be for resting, except for special kids that requires weekend lessons.
I don't subscribe to too much homework. Is it not a child who understands class work that will do well in his or her homework?

Assess this kids in class, that's what you're being paid for. If I have the time and chance wouldn't have sent them to your school. Because we know you manipulate and teach lubbish. You're just their waiting for a better picture.
But for what friends and neighbors would say, let them just follow their mates and be there while we have our time to hustle.
Some parents would want their children to be in school till they're back from work. Some don't like the midterm break and some don't like the long vacation. grin
Some parents don't like their kids staying at home, so we understand all this. So we're your nannies, just pay we need that your money. I know you would pay in disguise that they're doin' extra lessons... Lol. grin Who is fooling who? grin We already know that you're dodging from your kids disturbance and all, reason you brought them here. So don't expect any sudden change because we too are not your garbage dump. lipsrsealed

I keep saying it,, the system is very unhealthy for these kids,, imagine a 7/8year old kid going to school as early as 6:30am for morning class before assembly.
Then the school closes by 2pm.
Extra lesson till 5/6pm
Comes home worn out with barrage of assignments.
And during weekends,, the whole neighborhood won't even be enough to finish the homework the teachers give to these kids.

Pls don't give them brain tumor fa.

One assignment per week? Hahahahaha later when the child starts misbehaving due to idleness, they blame the school. Nigerian parents have become lazy. They have transferred total training of their children to the schools, both academic and moral training.
And by the way, no teacher can give a student six hours worth of assignment. That's a big lie. Do you know the number of assignments teachers will mark? Lazy parent
