Goodluck Jonathan Reacts To Fulani Herdsmen Killings, replies El-rufai by stephanie11: 3:13pm On Jan 13, 2018
Former President Goodluck Jonathan has reacted to the recent killings in Benue, Taraba by Fulani Herdsmen.

Jonathan, in a press statement by his Media Reps, condoled with the victims and also responded to reports that 756 people were killed in his tenure by Fulani Herdsmen.

The statement read;

'"Former President Jonathan wishes to express his condolences to the government and people of Benue, Kaduna, Taraba, Adamawa and Nasarawa states, over the recent spate of killings occasioned by herdsmen/farmers clashes.

"His heart bleeds for the sufferings of Nigerians and he calls on the authorities to do everything in their power to put an end to these needless killings.

"Having said that, let it be known that we find the statement by the Presidency stating that 756 Nigerians were killed by Fulani herdsmen in two years under the government of former President Jonathan as a mischievous assertion by a callous Presidential spokesman who thinks that death is something to be trivialized.

"For the avoidance of doubt, let it be known that the figure of 756 is wrong. But the issue is not that it is a false figure, the issue is that former President Jonathan was not inactive in the face of Fulani herdsmen killings during his Presidency.

"While in office, the former President knew that the capacity of the Nigerian police would be challenged by the sophistication of arms available to the herdsmen and so after he was elected President and sworn in on May 29, 2011, former President Jonathan summoned a National Security Council meeting and ordered that Fulani herdsmen attack must be decisively dealt with.

"In July 2012, the Plateau state government reported that herdsmen killings had reached a head in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area leading to tens of deaths of Nigerian citizens by Fulani herdsmen, many of whom were not even Nigerian citizens.

"Then President Jonathan, when briefed about the situation insisted that there would not be such impunity under his leadership and immediately ordered the army and the Air Force to go to the affected communities and fish out the perpetrators and bring them to book.

"The military immediately obeyed the then President's orders and sent troops and helicopters to Barkin Ladi Local Government Area. They ordered all residents to leave their residence for temporary accommodation provided for them so they could conduct a joint air and ground operation to flush out the armed herdsmen who had been suspected of killing innocent Nigerians.

"The residents complied and the soldiers went in and not only did they clear the area, they made arrests which led to trials and convictions.

"We wish to remind Nigerians that when this episode was being carried out, it was precisely members of the opposition who later became the All Progressive Congress that heavily criticized then President Jonathan's orders.

"In fact, a prominent member of the APC and now the Governor of Kaduna State and a known confidante of the President, Malam Nasir El-Rufai tweeted his now infamous tweet on the 15th of July 2012 threatening that 'We will write this for all to read. Anyone, soldier or not that kills the Fulani takes a loan repayable one day no matter how long it takes.' (his exact words).

"So the question Nigerians need to ask instead of allowing themselves to be distracted by the statement from the Presidency is this: Are Nigerians now repaying the 'loan' that El-Rufai threatened to make Nigeria repay?

"If the then President was not active in decisively sending the military after herdsmen, why would El-Rufai have been so pained to have made such a statement?

"Let it be known that the former President views herdsmen who kill unprovoked and with the intention of advancing their own economic and other interests as terrorists, pure and simple.

"Not only did he treat them as terrorists, he also put the military on high alert to protect Nigerian lives."

These guys should shut up.

President Buhari and his minions trying to defend him should shut up.

President Goodluck Jonathan and his supporters should shut up too.

There are hundreds of Nigerians getting killed by the Fulani Herdsmen, and Buhari and Goodluck wants to go into an EGO fight?both of you are not okay upstairs.

Was it not under Goodluck Jonathan the said Benue was attacked a whopping 33 times?but you are no longer the President, and that is why I see no sense in Buhari or his multitude of tiny minions trying to drag your name into this.

President Buhari. I know you are a Soldier, and a combat veteran who has seen and drawn blood. But have you been seeing the pictures of both babies and women getting slaughtered by the Fulani's?

We should not normalize this. This is wrong and very sickening.

A President is supposed to show strength. A President is suppose to protect the Citizenry. A President is suppose to heal.

I am sorry to say Buhari, that the Benue massacre has shown me in particular that you are a weak man,and that first you consider yourself a FULANI man before being the President of ALL.

People here still don't get it right? that I do not reply to mentions that I consider both the author and the writeup intellectually bankrupt.

If I ever reply to my mentions, that means I consider you or your write up very balanced.

The useless vindictive weakling has issued yet another derisory statement reeking of daftness in an attempt to leverage on the current crisis to demonize El-Rufai.

It is on record Jonathan has never been decisive in tackling any form of insecurity, at his watch the now dismantled Boko Haram metarmorphosizes from ragtag insurgents to fully fledged sophisticated foes that brings disrepute to the Nigerian army, attacking at will, displacing millions and forcing our brave soldiers to desert battlefields wearing women wrappers. All because of the ineptitude, incognizance and Dumbo's unwittness that pave way to unprecedented level of gargatuan pilfering by hordes of unscrupulous vultures on our common wealth.

Just see this quote from above pitiful statement:

"For the avoidance of doubt, let it be known that the figure of 756 is wrong. But the issue is not that it is a false figure, the issue is that former President Jonathan was not inactive in the face of Fulani herdsmen killings during his Presidency.

Imagine the bolded, yet the useless fool went on to claim he has done well in tackling the menace.

The El-Rufai he loves to loathe and pathetically trying to pass the buck to has done amazingly well in tacking insecurity in his state, El-Rufai has not only device a solution to the problem by initiating a thorough investigation to the root cause, he has since embarked on implementing it heads on as well, and it is bearing fruit, insecurity in Kaduna today is receiving bloody nose and crime is no longer attractive.

If Jonathan had any sense/shame left he should advice Benue government to adopt Kaduna's method of addressing the farmers-herders strife Just like the Plateau government did.

Peace is not a priviledge it is a fundamental right, no man shall be killed because of the leaders shortcomings. Enough of the blame game and instigations. I hope the perpetrators and those fanning the embers receive the worst comeuppance in million folds.

I don't understand why GEJ is giving a reply.

Even if 1000000 Nigerians were killed by Fulani herdsmen during his time, is that enough to justify the present killings?! Is it an administration thing now? Are the killings now normalized?!

We live in an insane country. Why would anyone even draw our attention to the number of people killed when GEJ was President? How does that solve any problem?!

As the days go by, I see newer and more disgusting reasons to be proud of being a Nigerian. And the more you access the situation, the scarier it becomes. So what if PMB rigs the 2019 election and has to continue his reign of terror? What can we do?!

Good but

to every presidential aspirant, here is our requirement checklist if you actually want us to cast our votes for you in the coming 2019 election.

We don't care about what political party you belong to anymore -whether old party or new party, popular or unpopular; we don't care about what religion anymore; we don't care about what tribe or region anymore but
You

1. Must attend not less than 3 presidential debates: how do we know you're mentally stable and not a slowpoke if you cannot give reasonable responses to simple debate questioning?

2. Must undergo medical qualification tests: both the psychiatricals and others. The result must be verified by a notable medical panel and must be made availale to the general public.
People do medical tests even for secondary school admission, so why not for presidency aspiration.

3. Must have of governing plan (just like a business plan or a master plan) and make it available to the general public through the all the social media channels.
Bank cannot commit their cash to people without a good business plan with clearly written goals and objectives, figures, strategies and a guarantor, so how much more should we commit the life, future and properties of more than 150millions Nigerians to you without a plan.
In the plan must also be indicated your personer track records of successes.

4. Must have more than secondary school education. (There's nothing new about this)

5. Must have at least one of your children educated in a public university in Nigeria (not private): by this we will surely know that you believe in the future of Nigeria and that you will work towards her betterment.
This is a price not too much to pay if you realy love us.
We are tired of insensitivity of government towards the development of standards of educational setup in Nigeria, the strikes and industrial actions.

6. Must be a patronage of Nigerian made products and services and you must believe in capacity building of Nigerian indigenous businesses to provide exportable products and services to neighbouring countries, Africa and the world at large.

7. Must be wide reader and self development enthusiast: If you don't constantly feed your mind with transformative, educative and informative ideas through books, you don't have a business doing with presidency in Nigeria.
We are tired of archaic approaches to human governing. We need mordern, liberated and future oriented leaders to lead us in Nigeria, not power mongers, who just want to be in government for power, fame and monetary gain.

8. Must be within the working age range (younger than 60 years): "what's good for the goose is good for the gander".
Towards old age, people become less and less physically, socially, mentally and psychologically fit to cope with occupational demands, not to talk of rulling a nation of more than150million citizens, so retirement is compulsory.
The retirement age in Nigeria civil service guided by decree No. 102 of 1979 that dealt with pension and gratuity pegged the statutory age of retirement for public officers at 60 years, while it is 65 years for judiciary officers and 70 for academic staff of universities. However with reform of civil service decree No. 43 of 1988, retirement age has been put at 60 years or 35 years in service.

9. Must have no public record of hate speech, tribalism, nepotism, crime against humanity, pending corruption charges or history, and or affiliation with any millitant group or religion fundamentalist group or terrorist group :
We will never ever think again that people will change. Ascenssion to power only gives people the chance to express their true self.

10. Must have done something contributary to the development of your immediate environment: this is simple, is'nt it?

11. Must be well educated about the constitution of Nigeria. We are tired of reminding the government what to do and what's not to do. We are tired of reminding the government about what's in the costitution they swear to uphold. This is 21st century.
The INEC in collaoration with the National Assembly and the Judiciary Counsel of Nigeria should create an online platform where common citizen can get proper education about the Nigerian constitution. They should maku use of shot animated videos and other training material. Certificates should also be awarded.

I know one day, we shall see the light of the truth.

Have you ever wonder why there were so much torror attack, ranging from the like of niger-delta millitants, kidnappers, boko-harram, fulani terrorist and others in Nigeria...?
This can be term as proxy war.

There are evil people within and beyond us that wants this country to fall apart by using the above tactics.

So Jonathan is trying to wipe the sh1t that stain his anus. Hmmm

Nobody asked Mr "I had no shoes" to give us a crash lecture about fulani herdsmen killing during his tenure as president. Expressing his condolence is more than enough. Though I wonder why he didn't express his condolence to the family(ies) of those killed by Boko Haram when his president. His ineptitude still reeks like fresh adult sh1t.

after all said and done

after all the outcry against fulani herds men and the lukewarm attitude of the govt to stem the genocide

let us ask our selves

where are the David Marks

the Barnabas Germades

where are the political heavy weights of benue

where is our Vp

where is C.A.N

why can they not speak now that their voices are needed more than ever

during the crisis in numa, the Sultan himself spoke against killings of fulanis

except Pastor Enenche, which pastor have come out boldly to speak against it

why do we not have unity in Christiandom or the south in general

what if big business men or christains in the North buy cattles in d very large number and ranch them. over time we would not have need for cows that these fulani are using to get inroute into people's ancestral lands

imagine if Christians slaughter n butched Muslims in cold blood, what do you think the reaction would be

the silence is too loud

this calls for sober reflection
