How pathetic Nigerians dying over beef they hardly eat. by Blue3k(m): 3:52pm On Jan 13, 2018
Dozens Nigerians are getting slain over meat they hardly produce or eat. It's pathetic considering fact Nigerian eat less beef than Nigeriens. Nigeria banned beef imports because the country decided on yet another protectionist policy that won't solve production issue. Instead of copying ranching or just importing more beef the country wants set up cattle colonies for herders.

The state are old but still relevant. The consumption hasn't changed radically. Nigerians still eat more goats and lamb but we dont hear a lot if noise over this.

It's annoying to listen to these primitive propagandist run their mouths saying these herders provide so much beef. Nigerians eat goat and mutton more and chicken a little less than beef but you don't hear these farmers running mouths.

Nigeria a weird outlier despite having a higher GDP per capita than a lot of the Our ECOWAS neighbors we still consume less than them. Nigerians could all be happier if we just import the meat people dying to have on dinner table. The herders have no intention of leaving primitive business model. The owners have money to start a cooperative. It's up to sophisticated businessmen to ranching.

if we have to look into the business side of meat.it will reveal a totally different view.
the goat supply is spread all over on Nigeria and one region cannot lay claim to dominance of the market but rams are in states like zamfara, jigawa some parts of illorin and etc by people who practice both farming and animal husbandry and these are shipped by road from the north to south.
but the Fulani cow herders and their owners are a practically different scenario all together.it is tribal clan that has refused to accept the concept of ranching.the killer herdsman is a totally different group of Fulani's. these are the mercenaries. anyone who has lived in interior north who know them

Eh, indeed, Nigerians don't eat enough meat therefor beef boycott would be useless is it? Instead, Nigerians should fight one another along religious lines because the Herders are all realy just Islamists executing jihad. And when the entire nation is engulfed in religious wars in one corner, ethnic wars in another corner, we would be only useful as a War Economy for Westerners in one corner and in another corner a Nutritionist Economy for aid agency and Fulani Herders selling the UN beef to feed the refugee camps.

Please Nigerians Boycott Beef, if you could it would cripple the Herders philosophy, undermined government intransigence and serve as a blueprint for how to impact Nigeria. The aftermath would pave the way for creating that public national unity capable of influencing government and break the hold politicians have on Nigerians because of tribal allegiances to them.

Boycott Beef!

From what I read in past it's southern Nigeria that raises goats more. Anyway the herdsmen still at end if day don't provide much beef. You still on average eat less beef than poor nations like Niger Republic. Then you compare countries that choose to ranch majority of meat they have Niger beat. Mercenaries don't fight for free and they seem to be after farmers.

The worst part is the other meat categories similar in percentage like poultry. If you combine pork and poultry I t's more. I know for sure it's mainly non Muslims eating that. I can't say for sure who raising it.

yes the statistics point to Nigeria's eating habit but the issue in the middle belt states now is about how the way of life of the people who are involved in agriculture are seriously clashing and the resultant effect is death and the use of mercenaries. for one group that has land for farming in its traditional homeland as compared to another group that is practicing animal husbandry that is constantly encroaching farmland.
unfortunately there are very few examples of cattle ranching because fg does not promote cattle ranching due to a lot of factors

for cattle ranching to work.one must apply for land to start a cattle ranch in the various state.then. their is financing required for the running of the ranches, then the multiple tax system that is practised in Nigeria. Compare that with what is going now?
it is not a small matter for either agricultural family(wether farmers or herders)

Actually it's both eating and production. The stats already prove what everyone knows ranching is better since thats how Tanzania, South Africa and Kenya do it. The federal government doesn't banned beef imports yet they didn't encourage ranching.

What you brought up is failure of government to enforce rule of law. States like Benue and Taraba already banned the open grazing so herdsmen have no business in state. The mercenaries and herdsmen are still in both states. The same federal government trying to repackage their grazing reserves in form of cattle colonies now.

Honestly the federal government can be neutral if it wanted to if it simply enforced rule of law. Open grazing is legal in 34 states anyway. The food import bans is next big issue. The ban hasn't made Nigeria more productive in beef, pork or poultry.

Lol I see your feeling are still hurt from the other day. Try to negate my argument with facts instead of using strike function like child.

Nations like south Africa has the White farmer who are exposed to ranching and federal laws at least protecting the ranches because it f its export potential.
for Nigeria it is a good ideal if you look at the food import ban but how does Nigeria develop a ranch system thereby promoting its own brand of beef without affecting farmland

The other countries don't have the white farmer influence as major factor and they still outdo Nigeria. How do you develop ranch system you simply remove burdensome regulations like you mentioned. States are already proving incentives. The last question is a contradiction. If you devote land for ranching you can't use it for farming. The government supposed to protect lives and property regardless of it's export potential.

oooduancalmdown lol typical genetic defect. Thanks for bumping my thread. It's much appreciated.

Everything written here applies to every meat producer and farmer. Cattle ranchers won't be special case. Besides I mentioned cattle sell for at most $1000 in Nigeria. If these guys start a cooperative they can have sucessful ranch. Land is cheaper in North. Hay and water can be sourced.
