Why are there so many bad reviews especially about Peugeot 407, with regards to reliability?
Petrol or diesel? U need to check the reviews again...
DONT BUY A RHD CONVERTED TO LHD...
DONT BUY DIESEL CONVERTED TO PETROL...
aside this no issue bro... I get my parts from France, Belgium and Germany... No issues I followed all the manufacturers recommendations... I don't abuse the cars... I service my cars with recommended engine oil

Ok reviews are mostly diesel, obviously good and proper usage is key

As regards resale/second hand value...
Transport vehicles don't have good resale values, they were used for commercial purpose, they were used extensively buyers don't buy them well...
For instance- DANFO BUSES, BRT BUSES,TOYOTA HIACE BUSES, CARS USED BY BANKS AND COMPANIES, CARS USED FOR UBER/TAXIFY ETC...
I can't buy a corolla 2003/2004/2005 that has been used for two years on uber a taxify for more than 800k,but I can buy a privately used Toyota corolla for 1.3m. Why will I bother myself on resale value when am gonna make my returns in less than a year, after two years I can give out the car...
PEUGEOT 407 Nigerian used is about 1.1m to 1.4m PEUGEOT 406 2003/2004 Nigerian used is 800k to 1.2m(very good one) Toyota corolla Nigerian used is about 1.2m to 1.3m( good ones) SO TELL ME HOW A PEUGEOT 406 AND 407 NEVER HAD A GOOD RESALE VALUE...
VERY SOON LAGOS RESIDENTS WILL NO LONGER BUY TOYOTA COROLLAS AT HIGHER RATES BECAUSE MOST WOULD HAVE BEEN USED ON UBER/TAXIFY...I WATCH COROLLAS DEPRECIATE SOON IN LAGOS AUTOMOBILE MARKET...
My opinion...

I don't know why some people reason this way. Experience they say is the best teacher and every business has a strategy and best tools for doing it.
This thread is meant for sharing experiences & learning as it concerns Uber/Taxify business.
Of course one can disagree with one another gently and respectfully to agree on the same page as well. Moreover it will be so foolish of me to argue and disagree with someone over what the person has used while I'm yet to use same too.

Everyone who wants to be sincere with him or herself knows that Ogunvic41 & Romeo3 have done a lot of good for people on this thread. They were once and even still Uber/Taxify drivers with great on-the-job experience. They have been assisting a lot of people, giving out ways and strategies on how to succeed on this business which every active Nigerian Uber/Taxify driver on this thread can confirm the helpfulness of the inform they give out.

Their strategies in succeeding in this business which they were dishing out were not only the time and days to work, where or location to position, type of phone and Service provider to use, but also the type of vehicle MOST SUITABLE FOR UBER/TAXIFY BUSINESS IN NIGERIA but it seems some people, due to their biased mind are now thinking and seeing what those guys are doing from different perspective.

My cousin has used 2002 Peugeot 406 for over 8years. He sold it in 2015 and bought 2010 Toyota Camry which he also use for Uber. Till today he has been regretting why he sold the 406.
What am I saying, only those who live in Nigeria, own and drive cars in Nigeria, especially those that have used different types of cars in Nigeria, and are familiar with Nigerian roads will concur with what Ogunvic41 and Romeo3 are saying.

The type of vehicle for Transports biz is different from the type you use for pleasure.
I use 2001 Toyota Camry which is acceptable by Uber but I don't want to drive it on Uber because the shocks and other underneath components are too fragile. My friend has 2014 Toyota Avensis and quickly registerd it on Taxify and Uber. Under 4months he spent more than N100k replacing shocks and linkage. After one month he replaced the shocks, a/c had problem, he spent over N112k changing compressor and other a/c components.

I remember sometime someone promoted Hyundai Elantra and I ask, how much is the Engine and transmission sold in the market? Get the price and also ask how much is 406 Engine and transmission sold in the market as well.

Those who want to succeed in this e-hailing business should know that you're in the business to make profit with minimal expenditure on the tools you're using g for the business.
That's my little contribution.

Don't really appreciate how this guy talks. Are you running a business OR A PERSONAL EMPIRE.

"I CAN AFFORD COROLLAS, I HAVE OWNED A COROLLA AND I CAN SAY PEUGEOTS ARE BETTER" (I, I, I: The beginning of downfall bro)

Watching to see where your business goes with this kind of attitude... Not everyone who criticizes is an hater, APPRECIATE CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISMS...

What was constructive about his write up? A man has got a right to like any brand of car he chooses without permission from another guy. We're in this business to make money. Whichever brand that helps you achieve that, go ahead & let others be. Nobody is bound by another's advice. If you don't like any, like many here for me, waka pass; don't try to form an opposition party.

Ogunvic4 and Romoe3 pls stop trying convince people to buy Peugeot. You've explained yourselves enough for discerning minds to choose.
No need trying to argue with those who prefer corollas.
My manager can never buy Peugeot again on his life.
My wife can never buy a Toyota.
Both based on experience

I think we should bury this debate here.

If you like, buy your car for 5 million or buy a 508 for 18 million like someone was asking me without thinking or buy an electric vehicle for 11 million, no uber driver will give you more than 40k a week.

let that sink in slowly.

At the end of the day. You can have the best car or strongest cars. It will boil down to driving style. Give a crazy driver a 407 and am sure wetin 4 weeks that car will be wrecked or any other car for a fact . There is no car that is bullet proof let us get that straight now. This is from experience, we need to look at both angle of the fence.
Most of the parts we talk about in nairaland. That are oem were are they coming from . A lot of parts are pass on has oem .anywere in the world parts are not cheap at all I don't see anybody getting OEM parts for 20k that is less than $100 especially if you are talking about shocks. If you are getting the oem shocks for Toyota, trust me they will last longer than what you are claiming. Best thing get the original parts for the cars that you are complaining about. And do an observation for six months. My shocks for my elantra were gotten on ebay. Am observing how they are going to last. I got them for $100 dollars on ebay. Which is about 36k naira for naija used shocks

No problems I can see that you an agbero who is ready to pick fight with anybody. I am not the type who will pick fight with you.

You should keep shouting for people to buy Peugeot or go to any carmart to stop anybody who wants to buy corolla for Uber.

Better still You can tell copart to stop auctioning cars for potential uber partners

If you are not satisfied with these you can go channels TV or you can carry placard announcing to the whole world that Peugeot is better than corollas.

And if people continue to buy corollas for Uber you can hug the transformer around your house or just speed into any army barracks in sight.

Conclusion
You and Ogunvic4 are mannerless and highly narrow minded mofos. I can never buy Peugeot for Uber... come and beat me

Who cares what you buy? Your choice is totally inconsequential to me. Did I draw a gun to your head to buy a Peugeot? Who cares? Have I ever quoted you before asking you to buy anything?

I don't care if you call me mannerless. Moves me not.

Every car brand is OK for E-hailing. Never get it twisted... Every man has an opinion and stands by that which works for him.

As a fleet manager or transport investor, finding that which gives you optimum ROI against every factor that competes with returns is a sensible strategy.

But note, when e-hailing started, there were rules to the game and those rules made people purchase 2007 vehicles upwards and people still cashed out. When those set of rules were bent, then did we see the influx of low end Cars that still gave comfort, efficiency and reliability.

If back then I knew little of what I know now in this business I would have owned a mighty fleet. But then we all learn on the job and grow each day.

I have stood by it that the KIA RIO has proven to me to be the best option for this business but I will not rub it in any one face unless u ask my opinion. Every car will perform best to the way it is handled ...

I am a fan of the KIA brand and I can say a thing or two with facts.

I own a 2010 kia forte (cerato) in my fleet which I imported may 2017 and till date I haven't changed the shocks or experienced major over hauling

I own 3 kia rio in my fleet ... just one will be going for shocks replacement after 3months of usage.

Every part acquired for your vehicle has a life span which factors like driving style, good roads etc contributes to.

The argument of whether na 807 or Toyota is really not relevant ... over skill na wetin dey kill monkey.... Use that which you are comfortable with and enjoy it while it gives returns ....

don't cut corners on maintenance n repairs

There really is no need for this Peugeot/ Corolla Ding bat fighting. To each person their own.Experience still remains the best teacher.come here and still observe what is being shared and take vital notes but when you hit the road you will see things for what they really are and you can learn your lessons, lick your wounds or even celebrate your victory.I remember being told by Ogunvic not to use a car not working properly for uber but i did strong head and suffered for it for 3 weeks till now that partner owes me 30k and still the car is not okay and it was a peugeot and when light would break and we discovered wrong wiring issues the guy stylishly took his car back but has not paid me for all i spent on his car but i needed that experience becuase it exposed me to a lot and now gave me confidence to get my 407 naija used and seriously abused but thank God ave been able to use it but need to still do some repairs but reading through different forums even here on NL has greatly helped because just as there are lots of negative 406/407 notions just as there are positives same with corolla and kia/elantra so i guess people would learn more from their own personal experiences.

in other news have Uber riders reduced or Dru 23 and FleetXpert have used their cars to take all the riders i was only able to do like 8 trips between 2pm and 11pm but fortunately mostly long trips otherwise eye for red small oo..i did not even have any back to back trip and most times even on the island i stayed for 20mins no ride..enjoy the day ahead people.let it be fruitful for everyone by God's Grace..

FAST INTERNET SHORT WAIT TIME...use 4G, I RECOMMEND SPECTRANET...
