The Oxford English dictionary describes a colony as: A country or area under the full or partial control of another country and occupied by settlers from that country.

Nomadic pastoralism is an old occupation across Africa, my early study of history taught me about West African nomadic routes that crossed from Mali - Niger-Chad down to Nigeria, while inside Nigeria the established grazing routes are Nasarawa, Plateau, Taraba, Benue and Enugu, these herdsmen from different countries in Africa have always migrated and intermingled unchecked in search of greener pastures for their cattle across Africa, that’s why we have always been told after every mass murdering, that the killer herdsmen are not Nigerians.

Today due to civilization, population explosion and some other natural causes such as erosion encroachment, global warming etc., the pastoral lands are no longer available for cattle grazing as the aborigines have reclaimed those grazing areas either for farming, buildings and some other uses, while the government have also used part of those grazing routes for road construction, building of schools and hospitals as civilization demands.

Though there has always been pockets of these hostilities across Africa where ever the herdsmen strays for greener pastures or water, but with the collapse of the economy which led to economic recession in late 2015 and forcing every one and every community back to farming, most of the communities that have coexisted with the herdsmen now decided to use their arable land for commercial agriculture and sustenance purposes leaving the herdsmen with little or no space to graze without encroaching and destroying plants and crops, such actions has naturally attracted anger, forcing the affected communities to want to forcefully quit the herders and their cattle out of their communities and in so doing the herdsmen who are usually aggressive armed with dangerous weapon due to the nature of their business always launch reprisal attacks on such communities killing everybody and everything insight including animals, women and children.

But outside these known triggers of disagreements between the Fulani’s and their host communities, there are other forms of criminality which the Fulani herdsmen had carried out where ever they are hosted or camped, crimes such as rape, armed robbery and most recently kidnap for ransom has become a common occurrence and if the communities dares as much as complain or try to punish the criminal, such a community will be visited with the worst from of massacre known to man.

From Plateau to Nasarawa, Taraba, Benue down to Enugu no community that had coexisted with the herdsmen had come out without tales of woe, tears, sorrows, blood and deaths, the call by the federal government for states to allow the herdsmen spaces within their neighborhood without putting into consideration the security of the people by working out appropriate protective laws for the safety of the host state, is such that is not only intolerable but should be rebuffed.

Cattle rearing is business, so is crop farming, and in Igbo land every parcel of land is owned by an individual, family or community irrespective of the Land Tenure Law of 1962 and any person or group that wants to do business in any form or guise I believe should be ready to get all the mechanism necessary for such business to flourish before embarking on such a business venture, cattle rearing inclusive, and no one or group under the Nigerian legal system possesses the right to infringe on or destroy anothers businesses.

Permitting the Fulani herdsmen a space anywhere in Abia or Igbo land in its entirety is consciously inviting death to ourselves and at such I commend governor Ikpeazu for outrightly rejecting it and I urge other south east governors to follow suit for the sake of our lives, our families and our communities.

Normadic way of rearing animals is a very wrong way in this modern day & time, the earlier the Fulani's realize it the better. Cattle's are better reared now through ranching & it is even more productive & beneficial if ranching is practiced. All right thinking southern states should reject the federal government ideal of colonies because it is another way to acquire their lands & later transfer to the Fulani's.

Bubu wants to settle his boys in before the next ellection. He is planting his foot soldiers for the future capture of Nigeria. By the time they have settlements, they can do millitant planning and training away from public view under the guise of this is our land and here is proof. When the Northerners are ready, they would have had tens of thousands of such Fúlàní terrorists pouring the the streets in a good midnight catching people off guard. Combing house to house and killing all at sight by morning you will find a whole street wiped out. Make una use long spoon eat with the devil o.

With reference to Enugu, was this before or after bridges were built over the Niger-Benue?
How did the fulani cattle herds cross the river to get to Enugu?

Historically, transhumance by the fulani ended at the Niger-Benue valley until when the construction of bridges gave them access to the South
