After watching Tunde Bakare on State of the Union Sunday telecast, it dawn on me that most people who make promises outside of Government failed to implement them when in government, not because they purposely renegade on their promises but they came to realize that the structure just doesn't allow them to take initiative

We don't need promises of job, anti corruption security etc, we just need to restructure first.

Will the North be comfortable to give such a person votes? If no, can he get enough votes elsewhere to be elected?

But a lot of Yoruba's are hiding under the umbrella of the north when issues like restructuring is tabled.

Op, the north aren't the only people to bring forth another leader....

We need to scrap that North/South presidential zoning...And just elect a president that will liberate the country instead!

The way that zoning was constituted, Benue indigenes might never smell presidency...

They merged southwest to the south and then all the northern states stand independently!

Yes, and as long as he or she fulfill this 11 requirements:

To every presidential aspirant, here is our requirement checklist if you actually want us to cast our votes for you in the coming 2019 election.

We don't care about what political party you belong to anymore -whether old party or new party, popular or unpopular; we don't care about what religion anymore; we don't care about what tribe or region anymore but
You

1. Must attend not less than 3 presidential debates: how do we know you're mentally stable and not a slowpoke if you cannot give reasonable responses to simple debate questioning?

2. Must undergo medical qualification tests: both the psychiatricals and others. The result must be verified by a notable medical panel and must be made availale to the general public.
People do medical tests even for secondary school admission, so why not for presidency aspiration.

3. Must have of governing plan (just like a business plan or a master plan) and make it available to the general public through the all the social media channels.
Bank cannot commit their cash to people without a good business plan with clearly written goals and objectives, figures, strategies and a guarantor, so how much more should we commit the life, future and properties of more than 150millions Nigerians to you without a plan.
In the plan must also be indicated your personer track records of successes.

4. Must have more than secondary school education. (There's nothing new about this)

5. Must have at least one of your children educated in a public university in Nigeria (not private): by this we will surely know that you believe in the future of Nigeria and that you will work towards her betterment.
This is a price not too much to pay if you realy love us.
We are tired of insensitivity of government towards the development of standards of educational setup in Nigeria, the strikes and industrial actions.

6. Must be a patronage of Nigerian made products and services and you must believe in capacity building of Nigerian indigenous businesses to provide exportable products and services to neighbouring countries, Africa and the world at large.

7. Must be wide reader and self development enthusiast: If you don't constantly feed your mind with transformative, educative and informative ideas through books, you don't have a business doing with presidency in Nigeria.
We are tired of archaic approaches to human governing. We need mordern, liberated and future oriented leaders to lead us in Nigeria, not power mongers, who just want to be in government for power, fame and monetary gain.

8. Must be within the working age range (younger than 60 years): "what's good for the goose is good for the gander".
Towards old age, people become less and less physically, socially, mentally and psychologically fit to cope with occupational demands, not to talk of rulling a nation of more than150million citizens, so retirement is compulsory.
The retirement age in Nigeria civil service guided by decree No. 102 of 1979 that dealt with pension and gratuity pegged the statutory age of retirement for public officers at 60 years, while it is 65 years for judiciary officers and 70 for academic staff of universities. However with reform of civil service decree No. 43 of 1988, retirement age has been put at 60 years or 35 years in service.

9. Must have no public record of hate speech, tribalism, nepotism, crime against humanity, pending corruption charges or history, and or affiliation with any millitant group or religion fundamentalist group or terrorist group :
We will never ever think again that people will change. Ascenssion to power only gives people the chance to express their true self.

10. Must have done something contributary to the development of your immediate environment: this is simple, is'nt it?

11. Must be well educated about the constitution of Nigeria. We are tired of reminding the government what to do and what's not to do. We are tired of reminding the government about what's in the costitution they swear to uphold. This is 21st century.
The INEC in collaoration with the National Assembly and the Judiciary Counsel of Nigeria should create an online platform where common citizen can get proper education about the Nigerian constitution. They should maku use of shot animated videos and other training material. Certificates should also be awarded.

WHAT IS RESTRUCTURING?

No Nigerian president can restructure Nigeria - No matter where he is from.

Reason is that Nigeria is the cash-cow of the elite-club from all regions - plus their foreign collaborators.

Nigeria was merely created to extract resources and share same among the connected few from all regions and beliefs. None of them will ever restructure anything. Even an outsider like Osibanjo has changed his tone.

So, anyone who tells you otherwise (or promises you a true restructuring) is merely playing on your intelligence. Such a person can't even access power let alone using it for restructuring.

Thus, the only way to get this oppressive and extractive union dismantled or restructured is through an all out mass revolt.

The people need to take to the streets, sack the current fraud that we wrongly call a constitution and demand a new beginning for everyone based on peaceful negotiations - which must include the option for total but peaceful disintegration and self-determination if any group so wishes.

The core problem of this country is rooted in the offensive phrase that says: "the unity of Nigeria is non-negotiable". You can only say that to a bunch of animals, not to a nation of humans in this 21st century.

Unfortunately, so rarely can mass revolt be led by a professional politician or anyone who has a serious stake in the norm. Maybe all hope is lost until folks begin to unashamedly weep for the emergence or reemergence of their hitherto ridiculed but true compatriot and deliverer. No president can help you in this fraud of a nation.

WHAT IS RESTRUCTURING?

Restructuring is changing the structure of government and giving more resources and responsibilities to States or Region by moving items from the FG Exclusive list.

This way developmental policies can be tailor-made for the specific regions rather than forcing a policy that is a way of life for some part of the country on another part that are totally different eg the Cattle Colony - a very innovative policy if your mainstay is livestock but not workable nationwide.

The only issue the north have with this is that it might be too sudden and they might be rendered incapacitated to pursue any form of developmental catch up.

To solve this, this article about the "Oil Equation" proposed that whilst all natural resources should be controlled by the state/region, the petroleum resources should have Onshore/Offshore Dichotomy where all petroleum resources within 100 or 200 nautical miles belongs to the bordering states while deep sea oil production would be shared to the Economically Disadvantage states for a fixed duration during which they can use the petroleum revenue to pursue a 10 year development plan for self reliance.

The reason the north opposed restructuring is because, for some years now, they have been encouraging mass breeding to increase their population for a larger share of the national cake, now these population are not productive and will be a massive burden when free petrodollar from the Niger Delta is no longer coming in

president can't restructure without legislative support. Nobody has that unless he will give half of legislators 1 billion each

The Prrsident of Nigeria cannot restructure Nigeria. Only the national assembly has the power to restructure Nigeria. The best a president of Nigeria can do is support restructuring by using his influence to bring it to the floor of the national assembly were it will be voted on.

However, the core North control more than half of the votes in the national assembly and they do not support restructuring

Restructuring is not possible in Nigeria
Re: Would You Vote For A Presidential Candidate Whose Sole Agenda Is RESTRUCTURING? by bloodmoneyspita: 6:21pm On Jan 14, 2018
OP just in case you didn't know the APC Government ran campaign based on restructuring. In fact their manifesto is also based on on restructuring.

So we the Nigerian people have already voted for a presidential candidate whose sole aim is restructuring and it did not work out.
