[i]For days, we kept going from places to places begging for food and money. Felix was very displeased with me in all through our journeys, he looked bitter and frequently swore never to forgive me till he have his revenge. We seeked refuge under bridges for almost two months and in those months, it was hell. Most times I dreamt of been chased by Wumi with a cutlass with deadly intent, or my father throwing me into the well. One night I dreamt Ajumoke was in pain in the labour room, she was finding it hard to deliver the baby and then cursed me before she died. I got scared, I cried and prayed for forgiveness but the nightmare got even worse, the thought of my death kept reoccurring to me and it got me terribly ill. Guilt was gradually eating me up, I had committed a great abomination, how could I had slept with my half-sister...I do deserve death. Ajumoke was the cause of it all, she was too clingy, she had lured me and I fell for it like a fool. I wish I could explain, but of what difference would that be.

[i]I opened my eyes to the realization I was suspended in the air with my hands banded with rope, as I had no cloth to clad my sweaty body. Every part of my body was swollen and arched in excruciating pain. I felt blood dripping from my mouth as I tried called for attention in the dark room. Suddenly, the door was flung open to a man who gently walked in, he turned to switch on the light before slowly closing the door behind him, the illumination was red and then I could see the figure majestically walked up to me in an air of desperate ease.

After a week in the solitary confinement in an army barrack with little food and water for six months. I was eventually released a changed man, yes for I was close to death in every sphere of me. I cried knowing I had suffered for another man’s crime. General Umar had me treated in a military hospital for five days as I had already lost my mind, lost my body and as I had later found out, he woundn’t want me to lose my life. The general accommodated me, fed me, clothed me and made sure I was in a better shape again.

“You were lucky, you know I initially wanted to have you terminated” General Umar spoke up after a long penetrating stare at me. He had earlier called me to his luxurious parlor for a discussion. His facials made his words undoubted and even made me feel he might still have a change of mind if I stare into his eyes any longer. “But I had to honor the wishes of my late daughter whose love for you was all that made her happy after she returned” he continued and went on to inform me of his proposed journey outside the country. He wanted to have Marvelous along with him abroad permanently and also handling to me his entire property within Nigeria. I was extremely happy. He can keep Marvelous for all I care.

Everything I had ever wanted fell on me just like that.

[s]GUYS LET ME TELL YOU WHAT I DISCOVERED WITHIN MY SHORT STAY WITH GENERAL UMAR PRIOR TO HIS TRAVELLING[/s]…This man had married Memunat’s mum who died of sickle cell anemia shortly after birth. Father got too protective of his only daughter who also had sickle cell anemia as well. His over protectiveness for his only daughter got the daughter uncomfortable and as well unknowingly depriving her of the social life she craved. At 21 years of age, poor Memunat wanted fun and as well craved for adventure so badly that the 300-level student of law had to flee far away from her father in Kaduna. As soon as she got to Abuja, she hides herself under a new identity of a different look, personality with the name Lilian. She got the love and adventure she wanted from two young men living next door to her apartment, then suddenly disappeared back to Kaduna. I guessed she told her father about the newly found love, all the escapades, about her pregnancy…bla bla bla and bla. I sensed Memunat had insisted on keeping the pregnancy even against her father’s wish. I heard she died shortly after child birth but had earlier made her father promised her to find Felix, make him give the child a name and make him into a man worthy of his daughter...FOR CHRIST SAKE, WHO DOES THAT IF NOT A GIRL WITH A HEART SOAKED IN BOILING RIVER OF LOVE.

About three months after General Umar and Marvelous travelled out of the country, I got back with Jennifer whom I had bumped into. Wait, I think she was the one who bumped into me. We instantly rekindled the love from the past and solidified it through marriage after a year. It was on my wedding night, I had rushed to go open for a knock at the door. I saw shocked to see Felix standing out there inside the rain, staring into my eyes furiously. It made me remembered the first time I ever met him.

“Where is my daughter?” Felix shouted demandingly.

I ignored his rudeness by putting on a welcoming smile but he kept shouting in downright incivility. I walked up to him and try to embraces him but he pushed me away roughly that I almost fell. I wanted to tell him how I had went in search of him but he was never found, he had relocated and changed his phone number but he kept on demanding for his daughter and threatened to have me killed but I ignored as I pretended to not knowing what he was talking about.

“Don’t give me that look” he waved me away “I know you know what I am talking. I heard you exchanged my daughter for all this wealth” he shouted as he yanked me a disdain look.

“Honey what is it?” I heard Jennifer’s voice approaching from behind, I instructed her to go back into the room immediately. I feared the worst with Felix presence at that moment, he can be violent and rough, but it was too late. Jennifer was already behind me in her skimpy gown, one that leaves almost nothing for imagination, she was prepared for sex that night and had come summoned me to action.

“Wow wow wow!! And who do we have here” exclaimed Felix with a genuine smile as he licked his lips, he looked excited for a moment as he kept his brimming gaze on Jennifer then frowned at me. “You even got yourself a woman, I see!!” he nodded his head scornfully as he slowly clapped his hands in despise gesture. Suddenly, he pointed his fingers at me with a frown to go with and said slowly “I swear to God, I Felix Aguda will take back from you all that belongs to me, go mark my words” he spit on my foot, turned around and walked away into the rain and out of my compound.

“Who is he?” Jennifer asked still standing there behind me.

“That’s Felix Aguda, he was once my brother”

The thunder immediately struck, accompanied with a flash of lightning like they had corroborated for a graphical effect to my anger.
