Evening all

Hope our Sunday is going on fine

On timetable, the two E-exam timetable we have so far are draft which means they are still working on them to make sure all courses are inputted and no one will miss any exam, there might still be another draft before the final one. The final one will have FINAL TIMETABLE as it name but note that the final might still be amended.

On TMA not available, I believe the TMA not loaded yet are the ones missing in the timetable, such will be rectified before the final timetable is released therefore continue your preparation

Exam hint

For those that doesn't use the system quite much don't worry it will be fine it more of clicking and typing is little, from your first exam you will pick up fast don't let that affect your cognition

Please learn how to use copy and paste because some questions are repeated that you can just copy the answer from one question and paste in the other but if it is so difficult you will be giving a piece of paper if you demand for one which you can use to write them down

Note spellings are very essential if you miss a letter in your spellings you will fail the question, also spell the way they spell, that is, even if the spelling is wrong and that is what is the answer spell it that way, that is why we urge you to revise with your TMA and also get past questions (more hint will be made available)

Thanks
We stop here for today.

Enjoy the new week that leads to your exam LOL

I have an issue in my portal please

Studying Accounting, 2nd Semester

During the course/code changes, my SMS 208 was changed to FMS 208, same title: Computer Appreciation for Managers. Till now, no TMA

Now the problem is that during the same course changes, my coursemates' SMS 208 was changed to CI8208: Information Systems, with complete TMA even.

I've gone to my SC to complain, but they(the IT man and 2 other staff members) insisted that my portal is reflecting the right course for my program and my mates' CIT208 is wrong. Their reason, SMS 208 is rightly FMS 208(going by the list of changed courses) and has no business with CIT 208. Secondly, going by the titles, "Information Systems" is not an Accounting course while "Computer Appreciation for Managers" is.
Their conclusion was that I shouldn't be worried.

Please is there anything else I can do to get "the issue" rectified?

In a recent interview with Fortis of Lade’s Signatory, President of the Congress of National open university of Nigeria (NOUN) Students (CONS), Lurd Bouch has disclosed that students of conventional universities cannot stand students of NOUN universities. Read excerpts from the interview below;

Can WE MEET YOU?

My name is Lurd Bouch. I am just a human being who loves to do things unique and differently. Lurd Bouch is an everyday person. I’m a 400 level student of National Open University Of Nigeria in the department of Computer Science who by nature of humanity loves co-ordinated things.

How do you feel being the President of Congress of National Open University Of Nigeria students?

(Laughs) No,that’s a big post. First of all, we have just one president which is President Muhammadu Buhari. I’m a servant of the Congress of National Open University Of Nigeria students.

Being the President of a Congress of students who are branched in various locations across the country and ensuring that people who don’t have the privilege of involving themselves in the day to day hassles of university life get quality education. What does it feel like?

Well, I am happy that people are beginning to understand what NOUN is.

NOUN is a federal University and it is a great joy to see people coming together to project that brand.

It is delightful because everyone can now have access to quality education because right now we have over 76 study centres across Nigeria.

National Open University of Nigeria is an Open Distance Learning (ODL) Institution and what it does is to bring the flexibility of education to you. This translates to mean you can be anywhere and still get good education.

It is not for the old but for everyone who wiahes to be educated. Laughs I am not old but I am here.

Another misconception is that it is seen as a succour for students who have been frustrated by JAMB and a place for less privileged students or cannot afford the fees of other institutions. This again is not true.

Some people even think it is a lesser university compared to a conventional one. I am happy that today lot of people now understand the true meaning of NOUN. Let me sound it clearly. NOUN is a Federal University. Disregard us at your own detriment. Laughs

Considering that you have 76 study centres across the nation, How do you hope to bring about effective harmonisation of students?

We have left the analogue age, and social media has been of great help. I can tell you right now that we have over a hundred and fifty thousand students harmonised.

By virtue of the wisdom of the Vice-Chancellor, he has said all study centres should have a students’ forum. We are essentially trying to connect these centres. That’s the main reason why I am in Ilorin.

The National Association Of Nigeria Students have just recently approved us as the students body for NOUN, that’s anothee big force that is helping us.

What is your main agenda concerning NOUN students?

I am there simply to serve so there is no different agenda other than the CONS agenda which is to promote the NOUN brand by uniting everyone across board. So, my aim is to unite, promote the act that established NOUN and improve the overall welfare of NOUN students academically, professionally and all the about.

What are the challenges faced by NOUN and what are the ways this are been tackled?

A major glitch is the misconception about NOUN which I already talked about. but thank God things are changing. The NYSC and Law School saga are also things that worries a lot. Fortunately, the Senate has passed a bill to rectify these. We therefore call on the President to sign the bill into law so NOUN students can begin to serve and admitted into law school. NOUN is a Federal University for God’s sake, It should be treated as so.

As an ODL Institution,NOUN surely needs effective technological input to work out. How is this being done considering the poor IT state of the country?

NOUN is doing its best despite the state of the economy as the economy of Nigeria improves, NOUN will improve and as we grow, things are bound to get better. You cannot be faster than the car you are driving so we are improving and will continue to do so.

What are the steps taken towards rebranding NOUN?

We just set up our media team to work out modalities on the issue of rebranding. I as an individual do not associate myself with mediocrity. I make sure to carve a ninch in all I tend to do. This is the spirit behind the drive. We are tutoring students of various study on positive branding and how they should be of good behaviour. Very soon, jingles would start rolling out on radios and conferences would be organised to make the NOUN brand known in proper light.

What ways can the Senate Council of the school come in to better students welfare?

Because of the structure of NOUN,The school will not want to be entirely responsible to/for students. As an ODL Institution, students have been psyched to just Read, Write exam and leave that’s we are changing that perspective. NOUN is evolving. On the other hand, the Senate Council is doing its best to provide resources that enhances quality education and students welfare as should.

On National politics now, what are your views on Restructuring?

First of all, are we ready? Restructing is an individual thing that must start with our mindset. if you and I do the right things and our families changes we will have a better society.

What I see we are practicing today is virtual change. To effect change we need alot of passion, we need a lot of will, we need a lot of sacrifice and sincerity of purpose.

Youth participation in politics,Are we ready?

I have been a campaigner of youth leaders but I have come to realise that we are not fronting for things we should be fronting for. Everywhere, you see youths who are bike men without aspirations or youths who come together to plot out to catch a new girl.

Youths in Nigeria have lost focus and we need to get back our senses. While conversing with a Senator sometimes ago, we talked about it. He said “Who are the youths, the ones that don’t know themselves? You people are not ready yet”. Funny, I said this thing to someone and he told me it was a mind game. But let’s be truthful to ourselves, are we ready? And the answer is clear WE ARE NOT READY! The elections is drawing close and some coins must change hands, once that happens, youths will sell out. If there is no receiver there won’t be a giver.

During the last election, whilst I was about to vote someone offered me #2,000 to vote for his party and I offered him #5,000 to vote for mine since we have all decided go stupid, let’s go stupid laughs What I am trying to say is again, the efficacy of little coins in our polling units remains potent and until we change that narrative, we would continue to have missing money and bad leaders. Also people who don’t have their PVC, those who have but won’t come out to vote are problems too. Youths should involve in active politics. To answer your question, yes in 2019 I am going to be vying for a post in the Delta state House of Assembly.

Your message to all NOUN students?

I have just a message for them. you are a star. In life, everyone was born stars, while some are Superstars others twinkle stars. It is in your own hand which you wish to be. A star in this context is a NOUN Student with that Nigerian Never die spirit. It is not easy to read without lecturers and pass. NOUN is not an environment where you can go and block your lecturers. Dear NOUNite, be focused, do things for yourselves and take things seriously. You are the real star.

Your message to all Nigerians?

To all Nigerians

NOUN has evolved, NOUN is improving, NOUN is progressive. So, to those who doubt us, us just give us one more year and see how we will take over the educational sector. As a NOUN student if you graduate with a 2nd class upper give thanks to God. You are the real MVP. NOUN is the best university in Nigeria and many students of conventional universities can’t stand us. Our 2nd class upper graduate will beat most 1st graduates. I’ll say it anywhere.

The things people are afraid of about NOUN is our capacity in students strength, the ability of our students to do the extra compared to theirs. But they shouldn’t fear. We are not contesting the right to supremacy with anyone. We are just saying we are NOUN students smiles.
