I agree with anyone who thinks Fab should have shown more effort at getting that pass, however, I don't want anyone to absolve Chris of that decision. The decision to make a cross pass in that area was irresponsible. The best players make those passes like you alluded, but those choices come with responsibility and trust in the execution and when it does not happen you raise your hand first.

I want you to watch Iniesta and Messi's reaction immediately the ball left Chris's foot. Infact, it was that bad that Suarez immediately left Rudiger to put pressure on the stray ball. It was like a Tiger making its first bite through the neck of its prey! They pounced immediately because they knew it was an errant pass in the wrong area and that was why it was easy for Iniesta to beat Azpi to the ball.

There is a difference between being slow and having slow reactions. A midfielder can be slow at sprinting over long distances, but have enough acceleration, agility and/or strength to ensure that any contest over a short distance is his to win. Fabregas is slow in his muscles, lethargic in his joints and weak in his body. Even if you are slow, at least be sharp and agile.
