Lingard has scored more starting games than Martial. Martial has more substitute goals.

You should try to understand how Lingard and Martial came into the equation. My initial post was about Salah's ability to do damage from outside and inside the box and then score goals in comparison with Lukaku. I brought it up because of prior arguments here.

The issue is not Lingard. We didn’t have an argument about Lingard. Lingard didn't cost us 75 million and was never given the burden to score or Assist goals. He was meant to be a squad player coming in for Mkhitaryan, Mata, Martial where there is space. It is the poor performance of those guys that Lingard got his chance.

Lukaku has to be compared with the best scorers because he was bought for £75m to bang in goals. Ibrahimovic scored 17 goals and was deemed to be very poor. Similary, Rooney scored 17 goals under Moyes playing behind RVP, sometimes in central midfield. He was said to be poor. He reached double digit in Assist too, yet almost all and sundry here told us to the figures were too small for a number 10.

Now, 25 goals is no longer the benchmark but strength used in helping others. I have nothing against Lukaku, but I don't know why crowd come to defend him when he is criticized.

Our build up play is slow and our fullback are most tasked with defending rather than joining the attack (sorry Luke Shaw), we are treated to uninspiring football after spending bucket loads but no, let's blame Lukaku who gives his all on the pitch.

We should have used same logic to back Mkhitaryan because he played in Mourinho's defensive system. Mkhitaryan was the highest Assist provider before he came here. Are we rating players on what they did before they came or what they are doing now?
