Wait guys whats with this bug of a thing!

Why do China have to bug AU building ? The f*ck is going on in that AU building ?

Come to think of it... There's nothing secret about AU :
The General Assembly, which is the most powerful organ, meeting is always public on National TVs.

They met to ratify AFT in Kigali this week and it was public as usual.

Morocco is not a member of AU since God knows when and Rabbat still stand tall.

What possible reason could there be for almighty China to bug AU building... When they can just walk up to one of their African puppets and collect all information.

Ok maybe China will bug AU expecting Egyptian diplomat and his Nigerian counterpart to gossip about how Donald Trump want to slam fatal Tariffs on China goods...?
Lol grin grin

Who gives a f*ck about AU ?

The entire AU went to Kigali this week to sign Free Trade Agreement, Nigeria did not go. Nigerian government is bullying the entire AU...

Now imagine what the Chinese, who hold Africa by the jugular vein, could do !

I will not doubt it if China is trying to bug Nigeria, or Egypt or SA...
But that they can bug a Building where everything going on there is virtually public ? I will pass !

Maybe I have been reading too many conspiracy theory books, but I believe that AU building constructed by Chinese is bugged.
And if they construct ECOWAS building too, it has to be bugged.
Heck, why shouldn't they bug them?

The only way that they can truly figure it out that the building has been bugged is to totally tear it down. The doors, fans, ACs, chairs, paintings, tables and whatnots could be powerful listening devices with battery that can last for years.
much aDo about nothing. China will not construct ecowas building the Technology needed for the construction of an ecowas structure is readily available in Nigeria or ecowas. Although China does not sponsor projects without having it's contractors handle the job. But this may be different we have asked for grants, let's wait and see if It will be given and the conditions associated with it.

Easy for shallow thinkers to overlook the Trojan Horse or concessions the Chinese offer. Wiki leaks is only a recent story of state espionage.

China which isn't the most democratic state with 'looser rules of engagement' (as per use of information) can use whatever is gleaned to subtly undermine one's development via offering better trade terms at risks to African farmers, miners, etc on the continent.

China's ascendancy today has not been without aggressive use of information from everywhere possible, including theft of intellectual property, usurping and getting in front of others.

Did These Computer Scientists Solve the Cuban ‘Sonic Attack’?
Three computer scientists reverse-engineered a recording of the sound and think they know what got 24 people at the American embassy in Havana sick.

A technical report from the University of Michigan offers a stunningly simple theory for the source of the Cuban “sonic attack”: a pair of eavesdropping devices too close to each other and tripping the ultrasound that ironically was supposed to make their presence quiet.

More importantly, it might not have been done with malicious intent.

“It doesn’t prove it’s the cause,” Kevin Fu, an associate professor at the University of Michigan and one of the co-authors of the study, cautioned. “It’s a correlation. But to us, it seems like a strong correlation.”

A recap: Last September, the State Department recalled 21 American employees from the U.S. embassy in Havana. These employees, along with three Canadians, reported dizziness, cognitive difficulties, headaches, and hearing loss, among other medical issues, according to an official statement made by Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. The victims of what was being termed a “sonic attack” reported hearing a high-pitched sound that made them physically ill.

In December, the AP reported that patients showed “unprecedented” neurological damage, with hearing loss, memory problems, and cognitive issues. This prompted further speculation as to what the “sonic terror” device was: Some thought it was an advanced Russian tool that was sneaked into the embassy; others thought it was poisoning. A Cuban panel of scientists thought the “psychogenesis” was brought about by stress.

To add to the confusion, doctors weren’t sure either what was going on. In a preliminary report published in JAMA, physicians treating the patients could only say a “novel mechanism” caused the neurological damage. A companion report in JAMA published last month came to no conclusion as to what could possibly be causing the neurological damage patients had suffered.

But in the technical report published from the University of Michigan on Thursday, Fu and his colleagues came up with a totally different, less spy-novella-ish technical mishap, not a “sonic attack” at all.

In fact, Fu and his co-authors were accidental investigators of the Cuban sonic attacks. Fu’s daytime job is researching computer security and privacy at the University of Michigan; he’s also chief scientist at the health-care security company Virta Labs.

“I look at how security can fail,” he told The Daily Beast. “My laboratory studies how sound waves can cause bizarre malfunctions in computer systems.”

About six months ago, the AP released a video of the sound, recorded by a victim at the embassy. (Warning: This sound might be painful to some people.) read more https://www.thedailybeast.com/did-these-computer-scientists-solve-the-cuban-sonic-attack

kenya wanted to build a highway and negotiated with IMF and world bank for 10 years for the loan.after those 10 years the loan was declined, the then kenyan government negotiated with china and within 3 months .the loan was given and work started.china may not be the most democratic but at least they aren't the most racist.for decades the west demanded that africans countries fight corruption or reduce the number of its civil servants e.t.c and at the end of the day no loans were given.

Lol, in 3 months...it doesn't sound fishy to you?
What concessions did your government also grant them? Imports of cheaper state subsidised textiles that wipes the floor of your own local factories and whatnot, incredible access to your mineral resource, etc

Don't get me wrong, the Chinese are good to Africans but sometimes we allow them overdo and exploit the continent willy-nilly because we want short term bargains without thinking far ahead.

we don't have textile industry to talk about because most of our clothes are second hand from mostly america, which already threaten east africa countries who ban them.will suffer severe economic repercussion.the mineral that has being found in kenya, which is titanium is mined by an Australian company.the real narrative is white man has being raping us for decades and now wants to demonise china because we aren't going to beg him for handouts.china actually has invest mostly in countries in africa which have no minerals

Nothing is fishy there. The Chinese have good business sense. If you're not satisfied with their conditions, then you don't have to take the loan.

Applies exactly to every lender out there. Not expecting you to answer for them, but why then do some dunderheads here vilify Western lending institutions?
After all, the IMF is a lender of last resort. Meaning you've fvcked up your economy so badly commercial banks won't touch you.

No such thing as a free lunch in this world, but then again here on Nairaland I've come across "people" bragging that their country is the 2nd largest African recipient of US aid. Not pride-inducing trade, but begging bowl aid. Bragging, FFS!

Will Nigeria also be taking action in line with what's happened in Israel?

Israeli shipyard suspected of bribery in Nigerian warship deal

Israeli officials have arrested three Israel Shipyards employees over a suspected bribery scandal involving the sale of Shaldag patrol boats to the Nigerian Navy.

According to The Times of Israel, three senior Israel Shipyards figures were arrested in Haifa on 18 March on suspicion of bribing a Nigerian official in exchange for supplying the patrol boats. They are suspected of bribery, fraud, money laundering, tax offenses and breaching export laws.

The Nigerian Navy received at least four Shaldag Mk II patrol boats between 2009 and 2013, according to the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s Arms Transfers database.

Nigeria’s Vanguard reported last week that the House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions recommended cancelling the $195 million contract saying it would lead to capital flight.

Nigeria has acquired other defence products and services from Israel in the past, including Aerostar unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and a Falcon Eye maritime surveillance system. The latter was inaugurated in June 2016. It is designed in Israeli by Asia Global Technology but manufactured by United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Falcon Eye Technology. It uses a number of electro-optic systems and cameras operated from a command centre to detect and pinpoint vehicular and human movements. Nigeria’s system has a range of up to 35 nautical miles from the coast and uses six electro-optical stations to monitor vessels, aircraft and offshore platforms.
