Harlequin Icthyosis. It is a very rare genetic condition. Babies with this condition are born with very hard, thick skin covering most of their bodies. The skin forms large, diamond-shaped plates that are separated by deep cracks. These skin abnormalities affect the shape of the eyelids, nose, mouth, and ears, and limit movement of the arms and legs.
There is a chance the baby survives if properly taken care of.

Just kill the baby and let him come back again than letting him pass this horror while growing up

I believe the mother is from the west or north the way they pratice child abusive marriages is alarming....

On the other hand if its genetic two things are involved is either she comitted incest sex with a fellow relatvie or coincidentally meet someone who also is a carrier of this deficiency for this to occur...
But for my northern and western brothers i believe it could be the former

I can account on westerners who pratice underage marriage just like the north mostly the yoruba muslims Pasay

And for the baby what choice do you give it i bet even surgery wont work on him look at his eyes all bloody its not just skin defection alone ...probably give it a chance to survive it wont ...
Probably donate the baby for an experiment so it help other people ...dont forget the wisest decision is the hardest to make

There are very young people who get married in the ss.. i have personaly seen 16 year old Ijaw and cross river girls in family homes... What do you have to say about that?

What is the reason for collodion baby?
The collodion membrane is due to abnormal desquamation (a peeling process). It is due to mutation of certain genes and is usually an autosomal recessive, congenital ichthyosis (scaly skin condition).

It is called a "Collodion baby" which results from a genetic disorder called Harlequin ichthyosis. There is defect in desquamation (scaling) of the skin. It is a severe disease with a poor prognosis.

Its a disease called harlequin symdrome. The baby may survive but sadly it will be stuck like that for the rest of it's life.
