Just stay off drug dealing and prostitution and you'll be fine

Stfu already

Must u attach sentiments in every little discussions?
The fact that many igbos are owners of pharmaceutical shops in kano does not mean they all sold codeine to the public without prescription. People who don’t know will support your half baked stories anyway.
Most at times I even wonder if people like you knows the primary use of codeine.
Now tell me how is it an igbo man’s business what you do with a medicinal product after purchasing it?

Are Igbos responsible for selling sholi(gum) and other crazy stuffs your almajiri brother take in every corner of kano?
How many of those almajiris can even afford codeine?

Just get hate out of your soul and you will be fine.

Choose to believe what you want to believe then. Are the pictures sabon gari or not? Foolish liar even after seeing the sabon gari bridge you're still claiming it is not sabon gari.

If it's not sabon gari it is ur village in the south I guess.

Thank God you said based on what you've been hearing.

Here's a little bit of surprise, I live in Kano presently and I've lived in Lagos. Talk about dirty, I swear to God, Lagos is the most dirtiest between the two.

Though Lagos have more infrastructure than Kano I agree but you can't take neatness from Kano compared to Lagos.

That's just the fact bro.

Lol. You don't need to reply him bro. He was born and raised there we agree. But the question is, is he still in Kano to see the latest developments in Sabon Gari?

To be sincere, I give it to Kano.

I even see some idiots saying Oil money. Even though it is oil money, it was judiciously used. What have their government in their oil producing states done with theirs despite the highest allocation?

Seriously bro, sometimes you don't need to lecture their ignorance. They won't budge.

I should be asking you if you know what you are talking about, not the other way round.

You asked how much in % Agric contributes to the GDP and I thought it was objective. How can the same you ask if that constitutes what is shared from the Federation Account monthly?

I would leave the Mining sector contributions to the GDP and stick to your question. Agric contributes over 24% to the GDP and accounts for more than 70% of the jobs in the Nigerian economy. The manufacturing sector depends hugely on the Agric sector more than any other sector for raw materials, therefore making it a major offshoot of the Agric sector. Of what use is an economy without jobs? What percentage of jobs does the oil / gas sector contribute?

In case you don't know the power of Agric, let me give you a little stat. The Netherlands made about $90billion dollars last year exporting meat, vegetables, flowers, diary and eggs etc, which is significantly more than what Nigeria earned from crude oil - almost three times what Nigeria earned.

The abandonment of the Agric sector in Nigeria is chiefly responsible for most of the socioeconomic situations that we face today ranging from unemployment to economic instability and rising insecurity.

You went all over the place with plenty grammar and words without answering my question.
Can I take that to mean that farmers in the north contribute ZERO to the federation account, which is shared in Abuja monthly?
Should we not collect money from the farmers in the same manner that we collect taxes and royalties from oil companies for exploiting the minerals in the soil that make the crops grow?
If we do that, as we used to in one way or another prior to 1966, agriculture will be revived as you claim to desire. Are you ready to lead such a movement in line with your desire

I am sure that the vast majority of Kano State is like a refugee camp filled with poverty-ridden squalor.
Paid propagandists of all the useless 36 governors will be showing fanciful lights that don’t represent up to 1% of their entire state. The saddest part is how empty brained youths on nairaland will be doing competition over such fraudulent photos instead of asking tough questions about governance.
No wonder we have been stuck for three years with a man who has only NEPA certificate and he has wrecked the biggest economy into a recession.

am not a northern so u won't say am speaking in favour because am from there.

first: I'll dispute the fact which u said that "kano is built by SS oil money"
I was opportune to serve in kano state as a corper. and ever since then I was forced within me to shade off the old philosophy I had against the north.

prior before now agriculture was our main stay and a sector which our dear nation was surviving on. and till today agriculture( I may not say the main stay of our economy) is still driving our economy.

the people of SS survive also from the hard work of the north. mostly all the farm produce we consume in this country is from the north.

I wept at my first visit to kano.
the zeal and hard work of these people.

the business opportunity there,

kano state is highly organize.

no police will ever stop u and demand money. u hardly see police on the High way collecting money from people or harassing people.

an average northern (that I've met) are very honest.

almost everything is very cheap.

I give a round of applaud to their town planner
different market for different commodities.

the good infrastructure. ( kano state has the longest overhead bridge,)

good electricity supply (that I ask a friend our we still in Nigeria)

non of this things are been done by the federal government. the question now is what is our own governors doing (SS AND SE Governor)

I also served in Kano, till today I can boast that's it's on of the most wonderful times of my life. mind you I'm not Hausa. I was born, lived, schooled in Lagos. all my life was Lagos. island, mainland. to me if it's not Lagos, it's a Bush.

But my orientation has changed, the people are honest.hardworking, nice. roads, transportation is good. stress free state. good and wonderful roads.
I went to different local govts, villages, even outskirt of kano bordering jigawa....I can say all the roads leading to these places are all tarred smooth roads. I wonder why Lagos can't be like this. and their road networks are great. I can go to a particular location through like 4 routes.
but the sad thing is it's only sabon gari and part of fagge LGA that have poor infrastructure and road....obviously beacuse most Christians/non-indegenes(Igbo's, yoruab's southerners) reside. It's really bad of the government.

my only issue with North is their doctrination caused by religion.... little children are taught to kill non-moslems...my ppa was a school and my children shared this with me. they go to Islamiyaa and are taught hatred. also JSS1 students vote during elections.

if only Nigerians can genuinely Love one another, this Country will be the best cos in out diversity we are made stronger. diversity is actually beautiful

Really, I get hurt every time I come on Nairaland and see obviously prejudiced opinions, largely unsubstantiated, being bandied as the truth by ignorant people.

The politicians and clergy have stolen the promise from the youth to oppress the same youth who in turn torment themselves. A never ending cycle.

When would we come of age and stop spreading unnecessary hate and anguish?

You asked how much Agric contributes to the GDP and I told you over 24%. You made it look as though Agric was useless but I clarified that it indeed contributes more than 70% of the jobs in our economy.

Where does the 24% earning come from if nothing is paid to the government by the farmers?? What about the taxes of the over 70% employees of the Agric sector?

Don't just post for the sake of it, you have to rationalize properly. Maybe, you think you can just wake and take your produce for export for free.

It worries that you could not even find where I addressed the questions you raised in my response.

Below is the extract from the January 2018 federation account sharing. Why is there zero contribution from farming in the north?

N80.604 billion was from proceeds of Value Added Tax (VAT) with the federal government receiving N13.091 billion, state governments, N40.302 billion and local governments N28.211 billion.

Statutory of N540.446 billion received for the month was lower than the N549.533 billion received in the previous month by N9.087 billion. The minister explained that the decrease in crude oil export sales by 0.59 million barrels resulted in decreased revenues from export sales of $11.65 million.

Mrs. Adeosun disclosed that the accruals into the Excess Crude Account still stands at $2.317 billion.
